옵·아트(Op.ART) 패턴을 응용한 디자인

Abstract

Art, which has undergone various changes with the times and social environment, has now taken on various forms and methods of expression. There has taken place a wide range of creative activities of art thanks to newly developed techniques in art and scientific development in computer science. Through 19th century, Movements, which aims to establish new pattern of plastic art, have been made incessantly. Aesthetic function of representation in viewpoint of individual aspect play a great role in art of fashion, because fashion, which is essentially different from other forms of art in the light of its expressing object, expresses not its creator but a person who is getting dressed. These movements in plastic art have great influence on many designer's concept on fashion and they have been trying to make use of techniques as Vasarely did. The purpose of this thesis is to study how to take a position a optical art in the field of fashion art and to focus on retinal pattern which frequently appeared in fabric pattern in the sixties. Most recently, Optical artists have disengaged color from even basic emotional qualities in order to manipulate the pure perceptual properties of color, unrelated to feeling, emotional expression, or symbolic value. They have given us an art depending for its effect soley upon the universal physiology of human eye and brain. Vasarely, among optical artists, combined the form of art in general sense with that of retinal art and he developed it into a art for popularity. With considering popular elements in the work of Vasarely as a motive, I make a try to find possibility of applications to new perceptual design. The performances of a work are composed of 9 pieces, which are employed with linen and silk chiffon. 3 pieces of illustration are added for the purpose of expanding applications of optical concept. Through the performance of the work, the effect which is aimed to express is as follows. 1. Three dimensional effect on the plane suface. 2. Effect of fantastic optical illusion by the method of double image making use of simillar transparent pattern. 3. Effect of motion illusion by the method of diffusion and concentration of small pattern elements. 4. New perceptual effect by interaction between pattern and its background. Finally, we should increase a degree of participation and understanding in the field of plastic art and bring about a form of high leveled plastic art appealing to our aesthetic sense.;오늘날 시대와 사회의 변천에 따라 많은 변화를 겪은 예술은 다양한 형태와 함께 여러 표현방식을 띠게 되었다. 예술 분야의 발전된 새로운 기법과 컴퓨터 과학의 발달에 의해 창조적인 예술형태가 광범위하게 발전해가고 있다. 20세기 전반에 걸쳐 새로운 형태의 조형예술을 정립시키려는 운동은 끊임없이 이루어져 왔으며, 개인적인 면에서의 표현의 미적 기능은 복식예술에서도 큰 역할을 담당하게 되었다. 따라서 조형예술의 이러한 운동이 패션에 대한 디자이너들의 기본개념에 큰 영향을 미침으로써 바사렐리와 같은 작가들의 작품기법을 응용하고자 하는 노력이 계속되었다. 본 연구의 목적은 복식예술 분야에서 옵·아트를 정립시킬 수 있는 방법모색과 60년대 직물문양에 빈번히 나타나는 옵·패턴에 초점을 맞춘 것이다. 최근 옵 아트 작가들은 자신의 감정표현 또는 상징적 가치와는 무관하게 색의 순수한 인식적 속성을 다투기 위하여 색과 기본적인 감정속성을 분리시킨다. 또한 그들은 인간의 시각과 두뇌의 보편적 생리에 영향을 주는 예술을 개발하였다. 이러한 옵·아트 작가중 특히 바사렐리(Victor Vasarely 1908∼)는 보편적 미술의 형식과 시각적 미술 형식을 결합하여 대중을 위한 미술로 발전시켰다. 본 논문에서 필자는 바사벨리의 대중적 요소를 모티브로 하여 새로운 인식적·디자인의 응용 가능성을 탐색해 보았다. 실물제작 작품은 총9점이며, 린넨과 실크노방을 소재로하여 만들어 보았다. 그리고 기타 3점은 일러스트레이션을 통해 옵(Op.)개념의 응용 확장을 돕고자 하였다. 작품제작을 통해 표현하고자 하는 요소는 다음과 같다. 1. 평면위에서의 3차원적인 입체감. 2. 투사된 같은 패턴의 이중효과로 인한 환상적인 시각. 3. 작은 조형요소들의 집중·확산에 의한 움직임의 환상. 4. 패턴과 배경의 상호작용에 의한 새로운 형태의 지각. 마지막으로, 복식의 조형예술에 대한 참여와 이해를 높임으로써 우리의 미적 감각에 호소하는 차원 높은 복식조형예술로 승화시키는데 도움이 되고자 하겠다.
