창(窓)의 양면적 공간성

Abstract

오늘날 현대미술은 하나의 사조나 흐름에 의해 정의될 수 없다. 이제 예술은 영원한 진리나 가치의 기준에 의지하지 않고, 다양성과 가변성을 수용하는 탈중심화 과정으로 특징지워지면서 각각의 영역이 독자성에서 벗어나 상호 침투하는 상황 속에 자리잡고 있다. 혼란과 불안정한 상황에 대한 우려의 목소리와 함께 새로운 예술을 향한 개인의 이상과 자유 또한 높아져 가고 있다. 이러한 현대미술은 그 출발점이 되고 있는 모더니즘과의 연계 속에서 반모더니즘적 성격 뿐만 아니라 모더니즘의 지속의 의미 또한 내포하고 있다. 본고는 지나친 형식주의의 추구로 인해 인간적인 면모가 배제되어버린 모더니즘의 한계를 직시하고, 포용적인 태도 안에서 예술을 통한 필자의 이상을 찾아나가고자 한다. 작품을 통해 창의 시간성과 공간성을 표현하고자 하였는데, 시간에 따라 변화하는 대상물로서의 창이 지니고 있는 안과 밖의 상반된 공간을 평면과 입체의 상호보완적 측면을 통해서 보여주고자 하는 것이 본고의 목적이다. 창은 갇혀진 내부 세계와 열려진 세계라는 상반된 공간을 만들어 내고 있다. 필자는 그러한 공간의 표현을 위해 평면의 회화 공간과 더불어 입체적 요철 공간을 화면 위에 적용해 보았으며, 시시각각 변화하는 창으로부터 받아들여진 색의 표현을 통해 가변적 시간성을 고찰해 보고자 하였다. 예술이란 축적된 생활체험에 다양한 의미를 부여하면서 사물을 재생하거나 형식을 조성하는 것으로, 작가 개인의 경험은 이러한 예술 작품 속에서 의식적, 무의식적으로 반영되어 나타난다. 필자는 경험을 표현하는 인간활동의 일환으로써, 일상 속에서 보여지는 창의 모습들에 관심을 갖고 감각에 기초를 둔 조형적 형식을 통해 화면의 공간과 시간의 문제에 접근해 보고자 하였다. 본 논문의 내용적 연구에서는 창이 지니고 있는 가변적 시간성과 공간의 개념, 양면적 공간성을 고찰하고, 방법적 연구에서는 공간의 확장, 사각형의 구성-창의 형태, 서정적 색채에 대해 다루고자 하였다. 끝으로 대학원 과정에서 이루어진 필자의 작품을 제시, 분석함으로써 앞으로의 작업에 새로운 방향을 모색하고자 한다.;It is impossible to define the modern art by a specific theory or stream. The art is independent from the eternal truth and value, and characterized by the decentralization including the variability that every domains interpenetrates each other. And the anxious voices in the suspense are increasingly accompanied by the individual freedom and ideal. So the modern art with those characters is in the coherence of the modernism which is the origin of the modern art, and connotes both the anti-modernistic aspect and the continuity of modernism. In this paper I am projecting to quest my ideal through the art with an inclusive stance against the modernistic limit excluding the humanistic aspect in the pursuit of the formalism. The time and space expressed in my works is intended to represent the duality of space which is the inherent merit of the window as the object changing every moment through the interdependent aspect of the plane and solid. The window creates the dual space obtaining the closed interior world and the open exterior world. So I used the method not only of the plane pictorial space but also of the uneven space on the canvas for the spacial effect, and tried to elucidate the variability of the time by the colour projected through the window. The art contains the various meaning of accumulated experience, and composes the form of the thing or reproduces the thing itself; the personal experience of the artist is reflected in these artistic works consciously or unconsciously. Thus I tried to approach the matter of time and space on the canvas by the formative type based on senses concerned about shapes of the window seen in our daily life. And this paper is composed of two studies: firstly, the study of contents concerns about the concept of variability of time and space, and the duality of the space through the window: secondly, the study of methods is about the expansion of the space, the square - framed shape of the window, and the emotional colour. Finally I am groping the prospect of my works by represent and analysis of the works painted in the course of graduate school.
