평직에 있어 Wrapping의 부조효과에 관한 연구

Abstract

20C초 큐비즘의 회화에서 발생한 Collage기법으로 부터 시작된 오브제에 대한 관심은 미술사 전반에 있어서 재료의 확대를 가져왔다. 즉, 이러한 재료의 확대는 평면에서 부조로, 부조에서 입체로의 자유로운 전환의 계기로 발전하게 되었다. 이러한 경향은 현대섬유예술 영역에 영향을 미침으로써 기법적인 면이나 재료 선택면에 있어서 다양한 변화를 가져왔으며, 그로인해 현대섬유예술은 순수조형예술과 한 분야로 발전되어 그 위치를 확고히 하게 되었다. 본 논문에서는 현대섬유예술에 있어서 반입체적 3차원의 표현형식으로 나타나고 있는 부조의 표현형식들에 대해서 알아보았다. 그리고 이러한 표현기법중 래핑(Wrapping)기법을 활용하여 나타낼 수 있는 입체적 표현 및 동적 표현효과에 관하여 연구하는 것을 목적으로 하였다. 본 연구는 관련문헌을 고찰하고 래핑기법을 이용한 섬유작가들의 작품에 관한 특성을 알아보고, 래핑기법을 이용한 본인의 작품제작 및 분석을 병행하였다. 연구결과를 요약하면 다음과 같다. 1. 평직으로 짜여진 일차적 화면을 구성하고 래핑기법을 이용한 입체적이고 양김있는 선을 유기적으로 배열함으로써 동적인 표현이 가능했다. 2. 평직으로 짜여진 평면에서는 한 시점에서 보여지는 형태와 색채공간만을 표현할 수 있는 반면 부조적 입체표현에서는 180°공간내 어느 시점에서도 작품에서 나타나는 부조적 표현효과가 가능했다. 3. 래핑된 선의 굵기를 변화시키거나 일정한 방향으로 꼬임을 줌으로서 방향성 있는 흐름을 표현할 수 있었다. 4. 래핑된 선과 평직으로 짜여진 평면 사이에 공간이 존재함으로해서 그림자라는 또 하나의 입체표현 요소를 활용할 수 있었다.;The concern about the "object" which had been originated from the "Collage" of the Cubism in early 20th century have brought the various kinds of new materials into most areas of the art in the history. Therefore, this variety of materials has enabled the art works to be developed from plain work to relief and even further to the three-dimensional form without any restriction. These tendencies have resulted in many changes in the aspect of both techniques and material selection, by giving effect on the area of the contemporary fiber art, and as a consequence, the contemporary fiber art has established itself as a part of the pure plastic art. The objective of this thesis are first, to study the techniques of relief expression in the contemporary fiber art and second, to research the three dimensional and dynamic expression effects of wrapping which is one of those techniques. The research was progressed by studying documents, producing works, and analyzing them simultaneously. And also, wrapping works of the world famous fiber artists were reviewed. The summary of research results is as follows: 1. The dynamic expression was possible by organically arranging the three dimensional and voluminous lines of wrapping on the plane. 2. The three dimensional expression from any viewpoint within 18O degree space -which is the limit of wall hanging works- was possible, comparing with the plain tapestry in which the same expression from only one fixed viewpoint is possible. 3. By tapering or twisting the wrapping, I could express the feeling of flow on the work. 4. By allowing open space between wrapping and plain tapestry, I could utilize the effect of natural shadow which is essential to the three dimensional expressions.
