북한 무용표기법의 구조와 특징에 관한 연구

Abstract

남과 북은 분단 이래로 서로 다른 체제와 이념아래 그간 몇차례의 교류가 있었음에도 불구하고 정치, 경제, 사회, 문화적인 상호간의 차이점을 극복하지 못한채 한 민족으로서의 통일문제를 안고 지내왔다. 무용예술에 있어서도 각기 다른 양상으로 발전해왔고 그에 따른 이질성을 인식 할 수 있다. 1990년대 이후의 동구 공산권의 몰락, 통일에 이른 독일과 같은 국제정세와 더우기 국제적 고립과 경제난을 앓고 있는 북한의 현실적 변화를 지켜보면서 남과 북의 통일에 대한 개연성이 더욱 높아짐과 동시에 통일을 앞두고 북한과의 대화의 폭을 넓히고 북한 무용예술에 대한 이해를 돕기위한 일환으로의 무용표기법 연구의 필요성을 가져다준다. 이 연구의 목적은 북한무용의 기록수단인 무용표기법의 구조와 특징을 연구하는데 있다. 이를위해 먼저 현재까지 연구, 고안되어 제시된 바 있는 무보법을 알아보고 실제 북한에서 제작된 문헌에 근거하여 무용표기법에 앞서 분단이후 북한의 정치 체제와 함께 발전해온 북한 무용의 흐름과 그 안에 내재되어 있는 이념, 무용표기법의 탄생 배경에 관해 살펴보았다. 그리고 북한 무용표기법의 구조적 체계를 이해하기 위하여 표기수단과 방법, 기록의 보존을 위한 무용총보 작성방법을 살펴보고 북한내에서의 무용표기법의 활용영역에 대해 연구해 보며 실제 북한에서 표기법으로 기록한 무용을 조사하여 살펴보았다. 다른 예술과 비교해 무용에 있어서의 기록법의 역사는 매우 짧지만 수세기에 걸쳐 많은 무보법들이 제시 되어 왔다. 그러나 20세기에 들어서 발전적인 양상으로 고안되어 발표된 베니쉬 기록법과 에쉬콜 와크맨 기록법, 또한 라바노테이션 등을 거론 할 수 있다. 그러나 최근 까지도 그 실용성의 여부로 끊임없이 연구 되는 실정에 있다. 따라서, 이러한 여러 기록법들의 제시의 하나로 볼 수 있는 북한 무용표기법은 북한 정치체제와 함께 발전해 왔고 북한무용의 기록수단으로 자리잡아 왔다. 먼저, 북한의 무용은 항일혁명 이후 분단을 거쳐 지금까지의 무용유형이 창작가에 의한 순수창작이기 보다는 이념과 사상을 중시한 사상예술로써의 정치적 목적성을 띄고 있는 것을 볼 수 있다. 그로인해 무용이 수단으로 이용되고 북한 무용표기법의 탄생 또한 목적성의 무용예술 발전에 있어서의 한 일환으로 풀이될 수 있다. 연구 결과 북한 무용표기법은 자모결합식으로 여러가지 형상표와 표식표를 이용한, 움직임의 표기를 위한 문자 결합식의 구조적 체계를 갖는 표기법 자체로의 내적특징과 북한의 무용을 한층 발전된 모습으로 제시하고 정치적 목적성을 뒷받침하기위한 것으로의 외적특징을 가지고 있다. 또한 무용표기법의 내적, 외적 특징을 통해 북한의 무용을 기록하는 한 수단으로 교육적, 창작적, 보급과 보존의 기능을 가지고, 단지 무용에 있어서만이 아니라 움직임의 원리로 된 많은 부분에 활용하고 있다. 이러한 무용표기법은 그 움직임을 구체적으로 나타내게 되어 있으므로 여러가지 표기기호와 간단한 서술로 다소 복잡성을 가지는 단점이 있으나, 움직임은 물론 구도, 소도구, 작품의 정서적 감정 까지도 표기 가능한 기록체계로서의장점을 가진다. 현재, 정치적 이유등으로 북한과의 문화교류가 활발치 못하고 그 폐쇄성으로 인해 북한 무용을 이해하는데 있어 어려움이 있는 현실에서 이러한 무용 표기법의 연구는 북한의 문화예술을 이해하는데 하나의 기저를 마련하고 또, 세계적으로 각 나라에서 연구 되고 있는 무보법의 연구 즉, 미래연구에 중요한 자료를 제시하는데에 가치가 있고, 서로 다른 예술양상을 보이고 있는 분단된 사회의 흐름 속에서 남북간의 대화의 폭을 넓히는데 중요한 역할을 할 것이며, 특히 북한 무용에 대한 이해 및 움직임을 기록하는 한 수단으로서의 새롭고 발전적인 공동작업에로의 기대와 예술적 측면에서와 무용 분석을 위한 많은 연구의 발판이 될 수 있으리라 기대된다.;The difference of ideology and system caused by the division of North and South Korea has left the homogeneous Korean people with the unsolved issue of unification. Although many political, economical, social, and cultural exchanges were made, both sides have yet to overcome their differences. These differences has caused the development of Dance Art to separate into two separate branches. With the demise of communism in the Eastern bloc, and the unification of Germany in the early 1990's, the probability of unification of North and South Korea has risen. It's main reason was due to the changing international trend and North Korea's fear of being isolated and it's worsening economic situation. With the increase of exchanges of both Koreas, the need to understand dance notation methods of the North is thought necessary to further understand North Korea's Dance Art. The object of this research is to study the structure and characteristics of North Korea's dance notation methods. To reach the objective, documents that were published in North Korea regarding the developments of North Korean Dance Art was studied simultaneously with the changes of political thought that occurred after the division. Such background information aided in the actual understanding of ideology behind North Korean dance notation methods. Also studies were made regarding the skills and application fields of dance notation methods in North Korea. To further understand the structural system of North Korean dance notation methods, notation means and process was studied. The record keeping process of dance publications was also studied to observe actual dance notation method that were recorded so that an accurate understanding of the actual characteristics of North Korean dance notation methods could be achieved. It can be observed that North Korean dance art that was developed after the Japanese occupation and the division of Korea placed its emphasis on idealogical art with political aims rather than being an art of pure originality. It thus gave a link between the emergence of North Korean Dance notation methods and the development of objective dance art to its role as a political tool. The research found that the inner characteristics of North Korean dance notation method was using the vowel-consentant combination style that uses many kinds of shape signs and signal signs as movement signs for the structural means of character combination style. The use of a propaganda instrument was the main outer characteristics of the North Korean dance notation method. Also through the inner and outer characteristics of North Korean dance notation methods. dance records were made with educational, creative, reconstructive and preservative functions, that was not merely used for dance art but it also became the principle of movements in many different areas as well. This kind of dance notation method although confusing due to the excessive variety of signal with simple description had definite movements. The advantage of this method was that it was able to express its emotion by not only the movement but also by its composition and props. It is hoped that this research on North Korean dance notation method could be a foundation in understanding the North Korean dance art, in a political situation where cultural exchanges with North Korea is difficult. The study also tried to show the differences in the dance art as a reflection of the differences of two cultures that became divided. Future cooperation of both Koreas in a joint effort in dance notation methods can further develop Korean dance art to a higher level. And by doing so, it is sincerely hoped that it can aid in promoting the relations of both Koreas so that one day, Korea can finally be unified again.
