투명 소재에 의한 도시 이미지의 형상화에 관한 연구

Abstract

Through the ages and diverse social environments, the method of expressing modem fiber art has overcome the limit of format and has enlarged its method of expression in fabric, and technique. Amongst the medium of expression, the fabric itself is playing an important role in expressing the artist's individuality and creativity. In this thesis, I have created my art work using the plaiting method and a synthetic textile called mono filament. Before going into creation, I previously studied the art works of domestic and foreign artists who expressed the transparency image. The method of expressing transparency can be divided into fabric and technique. The former method would use transparency of the fabric itself, and the latter would use off-loom techniques such as knotting, netting, and crochet. Furthermore, I also analyzed the method of overlapping display. There general motif of transparency expressed in modern art includes expressing mystery and fantasy, continuation of space and time and expressing cosmic abstract, expressing the infinity of the soul, the enlargment to an open community through warm sensativity of humans, expressing not the limited space but circulation of sensativity, the spectators transition of feeling towards the movement of light, and the metophoric expression of life itself. In creating my artwork, I have overcome the opacity of the existing fiber works and pursued the freedom of the human spirit overcoming the standardization and boundaries of the modern city environment. In my work, I have metaphorically expressed the concept of light as a motif of transfiguration of the artificial city environment through human sensativity and at the same time the restoration of human nature through interaction with nature itself. In other words, by passing light through a transparent dimensional structure, I have given the meaning of life and have succeeded in transfering the message of purity. In order to give the sense of a modem artificial industrial structure, I have used industrial material such as mono filament, and P.V.C vinyl fabric in creating various pieces using the plating method. By overlapping the pieces I have created a dimensional piece of work. Also by displaying this dimensional piece of work in space, I wanted to express a profound sense of mystery using the transparency expressed by the direct indirect light shining through the art work.

;현대 섬유예술에 있어서의 표현 양식은 시대적 흐름과 사회적 환경에 따라 다양하게 확대되었으며 다양한 소재 및 기법이 개발되었다. 특히 표현 매체로 사용되는 소재는 작가의 개성과 창작 의욕을 표출시키는데 중요한 역할을 하고 있다. 본 연구에서는 모노 필라멘트라는 투명한 섬유소재를 사용하여 플레이팅(Plaiting) 기법을 응용하여 작품을 제작하였다. 선행 연구로써 투명한 이미지를 표현한 국내외의 작가 연구를 시도하였다. 투명한 이미지를 표현하는 방법으로는 소재와 기법으로 나누어 분류할 수 있는데 전자는 투명한 소재를 사용하여 제직하므로써 투명한 소재자체에 의한 투명한 이미지를 표현하는 방법이고 후자는 노팅(Knotting), 네팅(Netting), 크로셰(Crochet) 등의 Off-Loom 기법을 통해 투명한 이미지를 표현하는 기법을 통해 제직하므로써 투명한 이미지를 표현하는 방법이다. 아울러 설치 방식에 있어서 작품의 분석은 중첩을 통해 투명한 이미지를 분석하였다. 현대 예술작품에 표현된 일반적인 투명성을 주제로한 작품은 첫째, 신비하고 환상적인 표현, 둘째, 시공의 연속성과 우주적 관념표출, 셋째, 영혼의 무한성, 넷째, 따뜻한 인간 감성에 열린 세계로의 확대, 다섯째, 한정된 공간이 아닌 순환되는 유동적인 감성 표현, 여섯째, 빛의 움직임에 의한 관람자의 감정이입, 일곱째, 무한한 생명체의 은유적인 표현 등을 포함하고 있다. 투명한 이미지에 의한 본 연구자의 작품제작에 있어서는 일반적으로 인지되어온 기존의 불투명한 구조체 이미지를 초월하여 거대한 현대 도시 공간의 획일화되고 구획된 압박으로부터 벗어난 인간 정신적 해방을 추구하였다. 특히 작품에 빛이라는 개념을 도입하여 현대적인 인공적 환경을 인간의 감성을 통해 변모시키는 동시에 자연과 교감하는 인간성 회복이라는 주제에 대한 은유적인 표현으로써 이용하였다. 즉, 투명한 입체 구조에 빛을 통과시켜 생명체라는 존재의미를 부여하고 순수한 감성을 느낄 수 있도록 하였다. 현대 건축의 인공적인 산업 구조물이라는 의미를 부여하기 위해 산업 소재인 모노 필라멘트, P.V.C 비닐 소재를 사용하여 플레이팅 기법으로 여러 피스(Piece)를 제직한 후 투명한 각 피스를 반복, 중첩시켜 입체 구조물을 제작하였다. 또한 이 입체 작품을 공간에 설치함으로써 직접적인 광선은 물론 사방에서의 간접적인 광선에 의해 투과되어 표출되는 투명한 효과에 따라 오묘한 신비감을 표출하고자 하였다.
