웹-기반 지능형 교습 시스템의 설계 및 구현

Abstract

지능형 교습 시스템(ITS, Intelligent Tutoring System)이란 컴퓨터를 이용하여 학습자에게 적합한 일대일 교육의 제공을 목표로 설계된 시스템을 말한다. 기존의 지능형 교습 시스템은 주로 독립형 시스템(stand-alone System) 상에 구축되었기 때문에 사용상 공간적인 제약을 받는다는 문제점이 있다. 이에 비해 인터넷 환경에서의 지능형 교습 시스템은 많은 학습자가 쉽게 접근할 수 있을 뿐만 아니라 풍부한 지식 자원을 공유할 수 있으므로 그 활용 잠재력이 무한하다고 볼 수 있다. 본 연구에서는 인터넷 환경에서 학습자 등록 정보를 분석하여 학습자 개개인의 수준에 맞는 문제를 제시함으로써 능력에 따른 개별 학습을 가능하게 하는 웹-기반 지능형 교습 시스템을 설계하고 구현하였다. 특히 학습 과정에서 시스템과 학습자와의 풍부한 동적 상호 작용을 통해 학습자의 중간 사고 상태를 정확하게 파악하여 학습자에 대한 효율적인 평가를 할 수 있도록 하였다. 또한 본 논문의 웹-기반 지능형 교습 시스템은 시스템 개발자와 인간 교수자 사이의 충분한 의견 교환 부족으로 인해 발생할 수 있는 문제점을 없애기 위하여 인간 교수자가 주제 영역에 대한 교습 내용이나 문제를 번거로운 프로그래밍 작업 없이 어느 장소에서나 쉽게 서버에 제공할 수 있도록 설계되었다. 본 논문에서는 이와 같은 웹-기반 지능형 교습 시스템의 설계와 구현 과정을 설명하고 그 과정에서 발생한 기술적 문제들과 해결책을 논하였다.;Intelligent Tutoring System(ITS) is a computer based tutoring system which can provide individual tutoring environment based on students' own ability. Most of current intelligent tutoring systems are stand-alone types and hence subject to space restrictions. On the other hand, the Internet provides a great potential as an ITS medium because of its availability and abundance of resources. In this research, we designed and implemented a web-based intelligent tutoring system which evaluates the user's level and provides material accordingly. This system enables dynamic interaction between human and computer to enhance the evaluation process by providing information on mental states. Also, this system facilitates a knowledge entry feature to make it easy for a human tutor to input his knowledge into the server without going through network programming. We also discussed the issues and problems that surfaced while developing the web-based tutoring system.
