메세지(message)를 전달하기 위한 오브제(object)의 착용과 설치

Abstract

창작을 향한 순수한 열정에 의해 작업을 시작한다하여도 작가에게 있어서 무슨 내용을 어떠한 기법을 통하여 표현할 것인가 하는 것은 항상 새로이 대두되는 문제이다. 그리고 그러한 문제를 해결하려는 작가들의 노력으로 오늘날 그 내용과 기법은 작가의 수 만큼이나 다양해졌다고 해도 과언은 아닐 것이다. 끊임없는 새로운 기법에의 탐구에 의해 회화는 이제 기존의 틀을 벗어나 조각, 영상예술, 연극, 더 나아가 과학기술의 영역에까지 접근하게 되었다. 이러한 양상은 그만큼 작가가 표현하고자 하는 내용 또한 다양해졌다는 것을 보여주기도 하는데 이전보다 더욱 적극적으로 사회현실과 연관된 주제를 채택하는 경향으로도 나타난다. 그리고 사회현실과 연관된 주제는 작품을 통해 다른이들에게 전해짐으로써 그 의의를 지니게 된다고 할 수 있겠다. 바로 이 시점에서 예술과 현실간의 거리를 좁히고자 하는 현대미술의 흐름을 찾아 볼 수 있다. 본 연구에서는 오브제의 사용과 그에 따르는 설치라는 방법이 예술과 현실간의 격차를 해소시키려는 오늘날의 현대미술의 경향과 어떻게 연관이 되는가를 살펴보고자 하였다. 또한 더욱 가까워진 감상자와 작품, 그리고 작가와의 상호관계에서 중요한 기능으로 부각된 주제가 지닌 메세지로서의 기능 또한 연구해 보았다. 본인의 작품에서 오브제들은 간결하고 단순한 형식으로 조합되어지며 그들이 전하는 메세지는 은유적으로 나타난다. 본인은 오브제를 각각의 고유한 의미를 지닌 단어와도 같은 기능으로 작품에 사용하고자 하였으며 단어들이 하나의 문장을 이루듯이 오브제들을 서로 조합하여 메세지를 생성해 내는 것에 그 목적을 두었다. 그러나 회화적인 요소가 최소화된 이번 작품들을 통하여 작가의 의지에 따라 선택되어진 오브제들이 과연 얼마나 회화가 주는 조형적인 완결성을 보여 줄 수 있는가 하는 문제점 또한 드러났으며 앞으로의 작업활동에 있어서 이점은 더욱 중점을 두어 해결해 나가야 하겠다.;Though an artist started on his work with pure desire toward creativity, it would be very likely that he came to face the problem of which methods should he employ to express his thoughts. And it is not an exaggeration to say that owing to their trial and errors to resolve that problem, the artists have developed various artistic techniques according to subject matters. Through endless research, painting techniques have now gotten over that of the previous era and approached the whole concepts of sculpture, media art, play and further more, science. Such aspect shows that not only the technique itself but also the artistic subject has widened its ground, such as relating current social phenomena to subjects. Thus subject could finally achieve its true meaning by being delivered to people through its work of art. In that sense, it could be concluded that modem art is striving to narrow the gap between art and the reality. Along with the particular piece this thesis focused on the relation of an object and its installation to the current flow of modem art. Also this thesis focuses on the function of a subject as a message in the interaction of a piece, people and an artist. Regarding the piece of the work, the objects are associated in a very simple and brief form. The message it carries is rather straignt forward and frank than complex and allusive. The artist tried using each object as a word. She finds her purposes in creating a message by associating each object as words are combinated to be made up a sentence. But in the process of her working, the artist faced the limit in presenting typical formative conclusion due to the peculiar feature of her object. And hopefully that dilema should be discreetly solved in the future through her continuous search for the appropriate methods of expression.
