물질성과 서정성이 결합된 공간

Abstract

20세기 현대 추상미술의 흐름은 형식상으로 정신과 물질, 내용적으로 주관성과 객관성이라는 개념들의 표현 양상으로 전개되어 왔으며 여기에는 지성과 정서, 직선과 곡선, 계산과 자발성, 고전과 낭만 등의 이중성이 본질적으로 내재해 있다고 할 수 있다. 또한 현대 사회는 모든 문화 영역에서 진리나 미를 추구하는 고전적인 가치 체계 대신 다양성과 가변성이 수용되었는데 이런 다원적 경향은 다양한 표현 양식을 통해 회화에 나타나게 되었고, 과학이나 어떤 논리에 의해 예술을 정의하기보다는 오늘날의 예술을 문화·사회집단 또는 창조적 인간의 심리의 표출로 보고 있고 예술가를 둘러싼 개인의 삶과 삶의 진리에 도달하려는 탐구는 매우 중요시되었다. 이러한 생각은 본인의 작품에 많은 영향을 주었고 회화란 삶의 체험에 의해 생명을 부여받은 내면세계의 상징과 기호, 은유적 공간이며, 경험의 주관적 양상이라는 생각으로 삶의 체험 속에서 개인의 감수성과 서정성이 드러나는 작품을 제작하게 되었다. 본인은 오늘날의 일회적이고 획일적인 문화와 상응하는 자연의 이미지를 소재로 삼아 삶과 예술의 조화, 자연과 인간의 조화, 물질과 정신의 조화, 이성과 감성의 조화, 형식과 내용이 조화를 기본으로 하는 동양 특유의 감성을 토대로 시적 언어와 회화성을 결합시킴으로서 서정적인 추상 회화를 보여주어 자아 실종, 주체성 상실의 현대 사회 속에서 명상적 공간을 설정하고, 현대 사회 속에서 뒤를 돌아보아 자연의 본질적인 것, 인간의 근원적인 것에 관심을 가지고 작가 자신의 화폭 속에 자신의 영혼의 의미를 부여하고자 하였다. 이러한 점에서 본인의 회화는 추상표현주의와 밀접한 관련을 가지지만 단순히 화면 자체의 표현만을 추구하는 것이 아니라 여러 회화 양식을 모두 수용하는 다원적 표현 방식을 취하는 형식적 조형 실험을 함으로써 새로운 화면을 시도하고자 하였다. 본 논문은 이러한 작품 제작에 관련지어 내용적 연구와 방법적 연구, 그리고 본인의 작품 분석으로 구성되어 있다. 내용적 측면에서는 여백에 의한 개방된 공간의 연구로서 마크 토비의 명상적 공간과 비교하였으며, 삶의 두 양상인 물질적 외부세계와 정신적 내부세계의 대립된 개념의 결합 공간을 추상적 기호를 사용한 안토니 타피에스의 이중 구조로서의 화면과 그의 정신세계와 비교하여 서술하였다. 방법적 측면에서는 시간과 공간성을 은유하는 흔적의 표현과 추상 기호의 역할, 색채의 기호적 의미, 그리고 물성적 소재로서 돌가루의 특성과 사용 효과에 대해 서술하였다. 끝으로 본인 작품을 제시·분석함으로 작업에 대한 반성과 함께 앞으로의 작품 제작의 방향을 모색하고자 한다.;In the 20th century, the trend of contemporary abstract art may have been developed to express the concept of mind and matter in the aspect of form and that of subjectivity and objectivity in content. And it has intrinsically two faces of mentality and sensitivity, of typicality and atypicality, of straight lines and curved lines, of reckoning and spontaneity, and of classicism and romanticism, etc. Moreover, modem society has received variety and diversity rather than classical value system seeking after truth or beauty in all kinds of culture. This trend of pluralism has been appeared through various expression forms in fine art. So modem art is not defined by a certain logic or science, but by the mental expression of a creative man or of cultural social group. And it has been important for an artist to search for his own life and the truth of the life. These all above trends influence my art-works and I think that a painting should be metaphorical space, symbols and signs of inner world given a life by personal experiences and should reflect a subject aspect of experience. As a result of those ideas, I make art-works embody a personal sensitivity and lyricism by the experience of life. I make an attempt to combine poetic language and pictorialness based on peculiar oriental sensitivity on the harmony of life and art, of nature and man, of matter and mind, of reason and sensitivity, and of form and substance by the motive with images of nature against the fragmentary uniform contemporary culture so as to show lyric abstract pictures. Besides I try to make the space of speculation in the contemporary society which loses ego and identity and to endow my art-works with the significance of my own spirit through speculating about the intrinsic nature of human being and nature. In this viewpoint, my art-works are related to ABSTRACT EXPRESSIONISM, but I give new dimension of works not only to seek after the expression of picture itself but to assume pluralistic expression which pursues various art forms. This study consists of a theoretical aspect, a methodological aspect and analyses of my art-works. In theoretical aspect, it is a comparative study not only on an open space by blank with Mark Tobey's space for meditation, but on a joint space of the opposition concept between material outer world and mental inner world with Ambi-Structure and his mental world of Antoni Tapie's who used abstract signs. In methodological aspect, the metaphorical expression about time and space, the role of abstract signs, the symbolic meaning of colors, the peculiarity and the effect in use of stone dust as materials of properties of matter have been studied. Finally, the analysis of my own art-works gives the better direction for my own art-works.
