Abstract
Nature is the mother's womb of artistic creation and the best gift given to mankind by God that provides mankind wi th very important resources. Art acts as a go-between such as kind of ring that connects nature and man, and therefore artists, in their artistic work, choose natural phenomena as their subject matter. Natural objects existing within a law of endless transformation, generation, and termination arouses not only an aosthetic inspiration with its physical and plastic characteristics but also desire of artistic expression. Specilly, water and stone among numerous natural things have the endless potential of metamorphosis, are diretly linked with human basic, original life, and have always existed around our daily life, and in this sense, it is very significant and meaningful to find out the artistic, aesthtic value of water and stone, and then put it into some formative art work. In the present study, it was intended to find out both the internal nature and peculiary of usual, natural objects - water and stone, and then based on that, transform once again the essence of nature already transfomed physically in natural phenomena through some imagination. In the main part of this study, our prodesessors' view of the value and symbolic evaluation of water and stone was illuminated through a general review, and as a review of scientific aspects, the nature and pcculiarity or characteristic of water and stone, and the influence of water on stone - weathering and erosion by running water were reviewed and understood. And also, through appreciation of some art pieces in which the substantial attributes of water and stone were utilized by artists, it was tried to get some helf for this author's plastic work. In the method to produce works, in order to show the crude, rough texture of stone the neast, smooth line and plane of water, Slip - Casting technique utklizing a gypsum mold was used. And it was attempted to increase the ceramic industry and Mullite of Jung-ang together, and it was also attempted that the heavy weight of work piece can be wet 1 sustained. The first baking was done in a gas kiln of 0.5㎥ for 8 hrs up to 850℃ and the second baking was done in the same gas kiln of 0.5㎥ for 10 hrs to be oxidizedly baked, and the work was finally finished at a temperature of 1.230℃. Resultantly, it has been understandable that through all the process of production where there had been many trials and errors, problems could be found out- And since this author has had many aesthetic experiencs in the process, the possibility to express new, fine ceramic works in the future could be clearly seen.
