Abstract
The flow of the universe is inescapable for the human beings. It is greater than the human species therefore we can only follow its rhythm and its voice. Our natural enviroment and surroundings have always affected us and has influenced our lives. And through the numerous natural changes, human beings have had to adapt to it accordingly. Having to adapt and to compromise to certain natural conditions, brings suffering and struggle to the human being, but at the same time they provide infinite energy to live. Such abundance of energy is important to artists. This is because it enables them to begin questioning themselves and also creates the desire to express their energy. Hence by doing this, the artist fulfills the inner-needs and searches for other ways of expressing through nature. Which provides infinite ideas for the artist to create. First, the artist begins by simply making a reproduction of the object that has been chosen. Then moving away from this, the artist makes forms that are different from their original shapes. The artist transforms, alters and refracts the original shapes with the artist's own concepts and ideas. Through these methods the artist builds his or her own aesthetic concepts and widens their views to overcome their limits. Therefore it is possible to state that nature is the fundamental source of idea for art. Although the art is about expressing individual experiences and ideas, the artist chooses a theme which is adequate for stating their perception of life and concepts in art. For this study, the artist has chosen mushrooms as a theme to express the artist's concepts. The natural and soft forms of mushrooms are interesting and it gives the artist numerous ways to create unusual and exciting forms. Mushrooms have organic shapes and the artist has taken them to create various different shapes. There are numerous different types of mushrooms and in order to use this subject as a theme for expression in art, it is important to first research and study its biological structure and existence. After doing this, for this study ten different mushrooms with interesting structures have been chosen to be examined in detail Also the enviroment in which these mushrooms grow have been studied closely to understand its formation. With these in mind the artist has applied individual concepts and ideas to make the artist's own forms. In order to express the rhtthmic lines of the mushroom curved lines have been. Also concentrating largely on the individual shapes and lines of the mushrooms. It is important to choose a material which can best express the theme matter. Clay is a good material to make organic shapes and forms. The distinct characteristics of a material must be sensedin the work. The coiling method was used for making the forms. It is an adequate method to show rhythm and movement in the work. White stonewere clay, celadon clay and mixed body clay types have been used for this study, To keep the natural qualities of mushrooms. matt-glazes have been used on the bisquit-fired forms. And in terms of glazes: Opaque, white-matt, black-matt, rusty, copper and yellow-matt glazes have been used. For the bisquit-firing the work was put into an oil kiln(0.7m^(3)) and it was fired to a temperature of 900℃ for a period of 8hours. In the second-firing, work numbers 1,3,5,8,9 and 10, have been fired in a gas kiln(1.5m^(3))to a temperature of 1250℃, reduction for a period of 9 hours. And works number 2,4,6 and 7 were oxidized. It has been possible to understand from this study that nature provides all order and harmony for human beings to live. When we concentrate cautiously, we can learn so many things from it and we often make the mistake of simply dismissing many important aspects that could be found in nature because of our carelessness. Mushroom is only a same part of the vast nature but it is very interesting and an important. Through this study, it has been possible for the artist to acquire a deeper understanding of the formation of mushrooms and at the same time it has enabled the artist's aesthetic concepts to develop. It is important to overcome limits in art and constantly improve the artist's individual world. Without development and flexiblity, it is difficult for artists to broaden knowledge and enrich their minds and souls.
