중등 교원의 선호하는 은퇴시기 및 은퇴에 대한 태도에 영향을 미치는 변인

Abstract

본 연구에서는 은퇴 준비 과정에 대한 이해를 증진시키기 위해 은퇴를 앞둔 남녀 중등 교원을 중심으로 배경 변인과 은퇴에 관련된 변인에 따라 남녀의 선호하는 은퇴 시기와 은퇴에 대한 태도가 어떻게 나타나는가를 규명함으로서 은퇴 전에 관련된 요인들이 무엇인지를 밝히고 남녀의 차이를 파악하고자 하였다. 연구대상은 서울 시내에서 재직중인 중등 교원, 남교사와 여교사로 제한하고 연령은 50-61세 사이이며 남자 108명, 여자 92명으로 총 200명이었다. 은퇴 이유, 선호하는 은퇴 시기와 은퇴에 대한 태도를 측정하기 위해서는 본연구자가 관련 선행 연구를 근거로 하여 작성하였고, 측정도구는 심리적인 면인 성역할 정체감을 측정하기 위해 단축형 BSRI(Bem Sex Role Inventory)를 한글로 번역한 정옥분(1986)의 질문지를 사용하였다. 수집된 자료를 분석하기 위해서 빈도, 백분율, 평균, 표준오차, 카이 검증, 수량화 Ⅱ류 분석 방법을 실시하였으며, 신뢰도의 검증을 위해 Cronbach′s α를 산출하였다. 주요 연구결과를 요약하면 다음과 같다. 1. 은퇴를 앞둔 남녀 중등 교원의 선호하는 은퇴 시기는 직업 만족도, 은퇴 이유, 성별에 따라 크게 관련이 있다고 나타났다. 다시 말하면, 직업에 대해 대체로 불만족하거나 그저 그렇다고 생각되면 빨리 은퇴하려는 경향이고 만족하면 정년이나 보다 늦게 은퇴하려 한다. 또, 남자는 현재 정년 연령에 하거나 늦게 은퇴하려 하며 여자는 빨리 은퇴하려는 경향이다. 그리고, 은퇴 이유에서는 가족의 요구, 여가활동, 직업 불만이나 다른 일의 시작의 이유로 은퇴한다면 빨리 은퇴하려 하며, 건강상의 이유라면 현재 정년이나 보다 늦게 은퇴하려 한다고 나타났다. 2. 은퇴를 앞둔 중등 남녀 교원의 은퇴에 대한 태도와 관련있는 변수는 은퇴 이유, 은퇴 후 수입 정도, 현재의 수입 정도로 나타났다. 은퇴 이유와 관련해서는 가족의 요구나 건강상의 이유로 은퇴하게 된다면 은퇴에 대해 낙관하지 못하는 경향이며 여가활동이나 직업 불만, 다른 일의 시작의 이유로 은퇴하게 된다면 은퇴에 대해 낙관한다고 하였다. 또한, 은퇴 후 수입정도는 크게 관련이 있는 것으로 나타났는데 수입 정도에 불만족하거나 보통이라고 생각하면 은퇴에 대해 낙관하지 못하게 되며 만족하면 은퇴를 낙관하게 된다. 이와 비슷하게 현재의 수입 변수도 많다고 여기면 은퇴에 낙관하고 적다고 응답한 사람은 은퇴를 낙관하지 않는 것으로 보았다. 3. 선호하는 은퇴 시기, 은퇴에 대한 태도의 두 변수에서 선호하는 은퇴 시기와 은퇴에 대한 태도간에는 상관이 없게 나타났다. 또, 성별에 따른 은퇴 이유에서 남자는 여가 활동, 다른 일의 시작, 건강상의 문제 순으로 이유를 말하며, 여자는 가족의 요구, 여가 활동, 건강상의 문제 순서로 그 차이가 나타났다.;The purpose of this study was to examine retirement conditions affecting men and women's preferred retirement timing and attitude toward retirement. The subjects of the study consisted of 108 male and 92 female secondary school teachers whose age ranged from 50 to 61. The data were collected through survey questionnaire consisting of sociodemographic and retirement related variables. The major results of the study were summarized as follows; 1. Socio-demographic variables such as sex, retirement reson were related to the preferred retirement timings experienced by male and female school teachers. As for the retirement-related variables, the years of teaching experience, preparations and plans for old age, occupational satisfaction, and life plans after retirement were related to the preferred timing of retirement. Those who were unsatisfied or ambiguous about their jobs tended to retire at earlier age and men tended to retire at actual time of retirement or as late as possible but women tended to retire at an earlier age. 2. Socio-demographic variables and retirement-related variables also were related to the attitude toward retirement. Income, retirement reason, and preparations for old age were related to the attitude toward retirement. Therefore,those with high pre-retirement income,with more job satisfaction and with more preparation in their old age were likely to have more positive attitude and experienced more retirement satisfaction than those men and women with lower income,lower job satisfaction and less preparations in old age. Concerning sex-role orientation,men and women who adopted androgynous sex-role orientation were likely to have positive feelings toward retirement. 3. The preferred retirement timing was associated with the reason for retirement but not with the attitude toward retirement. Those whose retirement reason was forced by family needs or health reasons rather than by leisure interests or seeking a new job expected to have negative attitude toward retirement.
