달의 위상변화에 대한 오개념 연구

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to examine student's ideas about the moon phase change in astronomy of the earth science curriculum, and to reveal the causes and patterns if misconception. To do this study, 672 girls and boys(214 are in seventh-, 193 in ninth-and 220 in eleventh- grade) are chosen at random. The examination papers are composed of the science conception test paper developed to find out the patterns of misconceptions, the light conception test paper to examine the causes of misconceptions, the logical thinking test paper and the space perception test paper. After collection, SAS was adopted for the statistical analysis of these test papers. The main patterns of misconceptions found in this study are: 1. Students think that the moon has her own light. 2. They think the reason for the moon phase change is due to the change of the area hidden by the shadow of the earth. 3. The think when the moon is not seen in the earth, sunlight does not reach the moon. 4. They think the half moon is a half of overall surface of the moon. 5. They think the moon without air is brighter than the earth as the air around the earth absorbs the light. These misconceptions are inclined to decrease according to the increase of grade, cognitive level and space perception. The lower grade, cognitive level and space perception are, the more difficulties they have in learning the phase change conception. The causes of misunderstanding the phase change conception are: 1. The lack of learning experiences 2. The low stage of perception development 3. The excessive generation 4. The insensible analogy 5. The intuitional thought 6. The underdevelopment of space perception ability And these causes should be considered in the science curriculum or field education.;본 연구는 지구과학 교과 중 천문분야에서 달의 위상변화에 관한 학생들의 개념을 조사하고, 오개념의 유형과 그 원인에는 무엇이 있는지를 밝히는 데 그 목적을 두고 있다. 이를 위하여 중1, 중3, 고2의 남여 학생 627명을 무작위로 추출하여 지필검사를 실시하였다. 지필검사지로는 오개념의 유형을 알기 위해 연구자가 개발한 달의 위상변화 개념 검사지 그리고 오개념의 원인을 조사하기 위한 빛에 관한 개념 검사지, 공간지각력 검사지, 논리적 사고력 검사지(GALT) 등으로 구성되어 있다. 검사 결과는 통계처리 프로그램인 SAS로 분석하였다. 본 연구에서 밝혀진 오개념의 주요한 유형으로는 (1) 달은 스스로 빛을 내고 있다고 생각하였다. (2) 달의 위상변화 이유를 달이 지구의 그림자에 가려지는 면적의 변화 때문이라고 생각하였다. (3) 달이 보이지 않는 위치에 있을 때 달은 태양빛을 받지 않는다고 생각하고 있었다. (4) 우리가 보는 반달은 달 전체 면적의 1/2이라고 생각하였다. (5) 지구에는 대기가 있어 빛을 흡수하므로 대기가 없는 달이 더 밝다고 생각하였다. 이러한 오개념은 학년, 인지수준, 공간지각력이 증가함에 따라 유의하게 감소하는 경향을 보였으며, 학년, 인지수준, 공간지각력이 낮을수록, 위상변화 개념의 학습에 어려움을 겪고 있었다. 위상변화 개념에 대한 오개념이 존재하는 이유로는 (1) 학습경험의 부족, (2) 낮은 인지 발달 단계, (3) 과도한 일반화, (4) 무분별한 유추, (5) 직관적 사고, (6) 공간지각력의 미발달 등으로 추정되며, 이러한 요인들에 대한 고려가 교과과정이나 교수-학습 상황에서 이루어져야 할 것이다.
