분리된 자아의 미의식 연구

Abstract

분석심리학의 선구자 칼 융(Jung Carl Gustav)에 의하면 ‘자기실현’이란 자기를 찾아 그것을 현실에 실현시키는 것으로, 자기실현을 위해 첫 번째로 해야 할 일은 의식 뿐 아니라 무의식 까지도 포함하는 ‘자기(self)’를 찾는 일이라고 말한다. 작가의 경우 예술을 통해 자기실현을 이루어 나간다고 볼 수 있으며 본인은 의식과 무의식으로 분리된 자아를 상징하는 샴쌍둥이를 시각화하는 작업을 통해 ‘자기’를 현실, 즉 작품 속에서 실현시키고자 하였다. ‘분리된 자아’는 인간의 의식과 그 너머에 내재된 무의식으로 분리된 정신의 세계를 의미한다. Ⅱ장에서 본인은 의식과 무의식으로 분리된 정신의 이중성에 대해 프로이트의 이론을 바탕으로 서술하고 뒤이어 칼 융의 자기와 자기실현의 개념을 언급하였다. 그리고 프로이트와 칼 융의 이론을 바탕으로 본인의 분리된 자아가 샴쌍둥이로 시각화된 과정과 그 의미에 대해 보여주고자 하였다. 샴쌍둥이(Siamese Twins)는 수정난이 둘로 나뉘는 것이 불완전하여 몸의 일부가 결합되어 태어난 중복기형쌍둥이다. Ⅲ장에서는 실제 샴쌍둥이의 예를 바탕으로 샴쌍둥이라는 용어의 유래와 역사속의 샴쌍둥이들, 이들의 속성, 그리고 이들이 사회 속에서 어떤 의미를 갖는 지에 대해 서술하였다. 샴쌍둥이 뿐 아니라, 난쟁이, 거인, 남녀양성애자 등 기형(畸形)의 외형을 가진 존재는 사회 속에서 정상이 아닌 괴물로 상징된다고 볼 수 있고 본인은 또 다른 시각으로는 이들이 기묘한 아름다움의 존재가 될 수도 있음을 보여주고자 하였다. 그리고 푸코의 <비정상인들>개념을 바탕으로 기형과 괴물을 포함하는 비정상과 정상의 경계가 사실은 정반대의 고정적이고 절대적인 개념이 아님을 말하고자 하였다. 그리고 그 예로 기형적 존재인 엘리펀트 맨(Elephant Man), 실제 기형인간들이 출연한 영화<Freaks>, 비정상 인물들을 모델로 한 사진작가 다이안 아버스(Dian Arbus)와 조엘 피터 위트킨(Joel Peter Witkin)의 작품들을 다루었다. Ⅳ장의 ‘샴쌍둥이 되기’는 본인이 샴쌍둥이로 만들어지는 것을 의미한다. 본인은 분리된 자아를 상징하는 샴쌍둥이의 모티브가 되는 무의식 속 자아의 존재를 확인하기 위해 본인의 유년기로 거슬러 올라가고 뒤이어 이렇게 분리된 자아가 어떻게 샴쌍둥이로 시각화 될 수 있는지에 대해 언급하고자 하였다. 그리고 고양이의 품종 중 하나인 샴고양이(Siamese Cat)의 샴(Siam, 옛 타이지방)은 발상지를 의미하는데 여기에 ‘샴쌍둥이가 된’의 의미를 더하고 고양이를 샴쌍둥이로 만드는 작업의 의미와 과정에 대해 서술하고자 하였고 또한 본인 작업의 중요한 방법적 요소가 되는 사진의 의미에 대해 서술하였다. Ⅴ장의 작품분석에서는 자궁 속에 존재하는 무의식의 자아에 대한 작업을 시작으로 본인이 샴쌍둥이가 되어 사진 속의 모델이 되는 작업, 인터넷상의 가상인간을 샴쌍둥이로 만드는 작업, 그리고 고양이를 샴쌍둥이로 만드는 작업 등 각 작품의 의도 및 내용, 의미, 방법, 구도 등에 대해 개별적으로 분석하고자 하였다. 특히 방법적인 면에서는 장지에 아교포수를 1~2번 칠한 뒤 그 위에 분채와 튜브물감, 먹 등을 사용하여 작품의 주제에 맞게 다양한 기법으로 묘사하여 표현하였다. 이처럼 샴쌍둥이 작업의 연구를 통해 본인은 그간 작업에 대한 이론적 토대와 작품의 의미, 과정, 방법 등을 탐구하고 이를 바탕으로 본인이 작품 활동을 해 나가는 데에 있어 앞으로 나아갈 길을 모색하고 도움을 받는 계기가 되고자 한다.;According to Jung Carl Gustav, a pioneer of analytical psychology, ‘self-realization’ is to find oneself and realize it in reality, that the first thing to do for the self-realization is to find not only the consciousness but also to find ‘self’ including the unconsciousness as well. For a case of an artist, it is to make the self-realization through art, and this writer is to realize the ‘self’ in reality, namely in work product, through the works of visualizing the Siamese twins that symbolizes the self ego that is separated in consciousness and unconsciousness. The ‘separated self ego’ means the world of spirituality separated in human consciousness and the unconsciousness beyond. In Chapter Ⅱ, the writer would describe the duality of mentality separated into consciousness and unconsciousness on the basis of Freud, followed by mentioning of the concept of self and self-realization of Carl Jung. And, on the basis of the principle of Freud and Carl Jung, the attempt was made to show the process of separated self ego of the writer into the visualized Siamese twins, and its implication. Siamese Twins are the dual deformed twins born with a part of the body in combination from the fertilized egg and incomplete in dividing into two bodies. In Chapter Ⅲ, on the basis of the example of actual Siamese twins, the explanation was made for the origin of the term, Siamese twins, Siamese twins in history, their attributes, and implication of them in the society. Not only the Siamese twins, but also the midgets, giants, bi-sexual people and other deformed existence are deemed as symbolizing the beast within the society and the writer wishes to show that they could be a weird presence in different view. And, it attempted to say that the boundary line of abnormality and normality that includes the malformation and beast on the basis of <Abnormal People> concept of Foucault is not the fixed and absolute concept of opposite. Also, as the example, it handled the works of malformation existence in Elephant Man, movie <Freaks> with actually deformed humans, works of Dian Arbus and Joel Peter Witkin, photographers who had the abnormal people as models. In Chapter Ⅳ, the ‘Becoming of Siamese twins’ implies that the person is being made into the Siamese twins. In order to confirm the existence of self ego within the unconsciousness that is the motive of the Siamese twins that symbolizes the separated self ego, the writer has to look back to the time of youth, and mention how this separated self ego could be visualized as the Siamese twins. And, Siam (an ancient town in Thai) in Siamese cat, one of the cats, implies the original place, and it adds the implication of ‘becoming of Siamese twins’, by way of describing on the implication and process of making the cat into the Siamese twins, and in addition, the description was made on the implication of photograph to be an important elements of my works. Under the work analysis in Chapter Ⅴ, beginning with the works on the self ego of unconsciousness presented in the uterus, the writer becomes the Siamese twins to begin the individual analysis on intent in each work, contents, implication, method, structure and others including the work to become a model in the photograph, work to make the virtual human in internet into the Siamese twins, work of making a cat into the Siamese twins, and others. In particular, in the aspect of method, the paper is applied with glue coating for 1~2 times, and use the diverse colors and tube colors to express by depicting in diverse technique for the theme of the work. As such, through the study of the Siamese twins, the writer intends to search for the implication, process, method, and others along with the theoretical foundation on the works, and from this foundation, the writer wishes to take it as a turning point to learn the way in work production activities and obtain assistance thereof.
