Abstract

In contemporary literature, the mode of genre intermixture, which comes under a factor of variation on a pure genre, forms an unique literary characteristic and function which emerge destroying a boundary among literary genres to be got newly ordered in the literary work. The chracteristic and function in this mode of genre intermixture was observed in the context of the relations between the 'Short-Epic' mode and the poetical realities actualized by it. First, in chapter Ⅱ, with regard to the Shot-Epic mode, the aspect relative to earlier poetry and its meaning as realistic poetry was investigated into. The wandering inner-self looking-at attitude of the earlier poetry and the attitude of reality- criticism that appeared in Dadaism poetry have been converted afterwards into the emotional sensibility and a reflection of the concrete appearances which were shown in the Shor-Epic mode. In a relation to earlier poetry, the Shor-Epic mode secures the realities by introducing narration into the genre of lyric poetry, and brings forth a deep sympathy with an experience of an objective recognition acquired by its lyricism at a lyric moment. And an epistolary narration, presenting implied addressers and addressees in the work, has real readers positively participated i n the interpretation of the text to make the meaning of the work dynamic. The reason of the effected participation by not a few of readers and the formation of a common sympathy is closely related to a point that the Short-Epic mode signs collective emotion as well as episotolary narration. The collective emotion provides a field of general experiences for the epic mode so as to head for objectivity. Like this, the attempt that genre intermixture tried to access to an objective recognition of real appearances reflected by poetry was a literary- historical assignment given to that time. This assignment is what has been continuously maintained up to current literary circles, and it is considered that an exploration in formal characteristics and meanings of the Shor-Epic poetry may possibly contrbute to our understanding of trend of contemporary poetry. In chapter Ⅲ, the aspect of the poetry of Wha rhim was observed as compared with the Shor-Epic mode. After his period of Short-Epics, he manifests on romantic poems, not representing concrete realities , but representing abstract reality recognitions. When setting forth heroic, romantic poems to secure historicity, though being abstract, only a phenomenon of the poem lengthened is caused chiefly due to an enthusiastic tone, but epic characteristic is weakened and reality is gradually disappeared. Though being idealistic, however, it is seen a poetic work meaningful to the national people encountered to gloomy realities when considering that a view about the realities of the people is represented through a vehicle of 'Hynhaetan'. Wha rhim who was in worries about the national fortune accepts the realities as desting confronting to the inner-world of himself at that circumstance, so his consciousness of epic conflict loses its base for confrontation and a lyrical voice is echoed dreaming a harmony with the world. An internalized world of a leap, compression and abridgment emerges as a poetic form simplified and deterministic attitude, acknowledged the realities , lies upon the base of his perceptive attitude dreaming a harmony impossible with the world. And this mind is expressed with an image of 'night'. Like this, the aspect of changes of Ma rhim's poetry shows a process that the reality which was embodied as the Short-Epic mode is lost as the mode is changed: it is assured that matters of the Shor-Epic mode and the poetic reality are closely related each other. And his poetry represents an unique figure of the aspect of genre intermixture - a new field of poetic literature - suggesting a potential possibility to build up realism poetics correctly;현대문학에서 순수한 장르 변화의 요인이 되고 있는 장르혼합의 양상은 문학장르 간의 경계를 허물면서 문학작품 속에서 새롭게 질서화되어 독특한 미학적 특성과 기능을 형성한다. 본 논문은 이러한 장르혼합의 양식적 특성과 그 기능을 단편서사시 양식과 그것이 구현하고 있는 시의 리얼리티와의 관계 속에서 고찰하여 보았다. Ⅱ장에서는 단편서사시 양식의 특성규명을 중심으로 초기시와의 관련 양상, 그리고 리얼리즘 시로서의 의의를 다루었다. 초기시의 모습은 방황하는 자아의 내면의식이 '흐름`으로 비유되어 나타나다가, 기존의 관념과 가치를 부정하는 다다이즘 시의 경향으로 변모된다. 초기시에 나타나는 자신의 내면을 응시하는 시인의식은 단편서사시 양식에서 보여지는 정서적 감응력으로 이어지며, 다다이즘에서 구현되었던 현실비판의 태도는 이후 단편서사시에서 현실의 구체적인 모습으로 형상화되어 나타난다. 위와 같은 초기시의 특성과의 관련 속에서 단편서사시 양식은 이야기를 도입하여, 서정장르에서 리얼리티를 구현하고 있으며, 서사적 특성이 획득할 수 있는 객관적 인식의 효과가 순간적인 서정에 통합되면서 깊은 정서적 울림을 주며 그 의미를 풍부하게 하고 있다. 그리고 서간체 화법은 작품 속에 함축적 발신자와 수신자를 상정함으로써 텍스트의 해석에 실제 독자가 자연스럽게 참여하도록 유도하며 실제 독자가 작품의 의미부여에 능동적으로 참여하여 작품의 의미를 활성화시킬 수 있도록 기능한다. 또한 단편서사시 양식에 내재해 있는 집단적 정서는 다수의 독자를 참여시키면서 공감대를 형성시키고 있다. 그리하여 당대의 현실 속에서 살아가는 사람들의 집단적인 정서를 노래함으로써, 보편적 체험의 영역을 제공하며, 이에 따라 시의 정서는 주관화되지 않고 객관화된다. 단편서사시 양식은 당대의 다른 프로시들에 비하여 서사성이 강조되며, 같은 집단적 정서를 노래하는 장편서사시에 비하면 서정성이 돋보이는 양식적 특성을 보여주고 있다. 이와같이 시에 현실의 모습을 반영하면서 객관적인 인식에 이르고자 하는 장르혼합의 시도는 리얼리즘의 문제를 서정장르에 구현시키려는 당대의 문학사적인 과제였다. 이러한 과제는 현재의 문단에서도 지속적으로 거론되고 있는 것으로 단편서사시 양식의 명칭은 공식화되지 않았지만 그 명칭이 함축하고 있는 장르적 의의와 詩史的 意義의 문제는 요즈음 시단의 서사화 경향과 밀접히 연관되기 때문에 그 양식적 특성과 의의를 고찰함으로써 현대시 이해의 한 방향을 제시한다. Ⅲ장에서는 단편서사시 이후의 임화 시의 변모를 단편서사시 양식과의 비교 속에서 살펴보았다. 단편서사시 이후 임화는 낭만시를 주장하는데, 이 시들은 구체적인 현실을 담아내고 있지 못하며 추상화된 현실인식을 보이고 있다. 시에서 서사성이 약화되면서 객관적인 태도를 보이던 화자의 모습도 주관화된 화자로 변모되어 나타난다. 추상적이지만 역사성을 담보해내기 위한 영웅적 낭만시를 발표하는데, 격정적 어조를 감당하기 위해 시에 서사성과는 무관한 장편화 현상이 일어나며, 이에 따라 점점 리얼리티는 상실되는 모습을 보여준다. 관념적이긴 하지만 영웅적 목소리로 '현해탄'을 매개로 하여 우리 민족의 현실과 미래를 노래하고 있음은 어두운 현실에 놓인 민족에게 의의있는 詩作이었다. 민족에 대해 고민하던 임화는 결국 우리민족이 처한 현실을 운명으로 받아들이면서 그 공통된 운명 안에 놓인 자기 자신의 내면과 마주선다. 그리하여 자아의 목소리는 세계와의 서사적 대결의식을 상실하고, 세계와의 동일화를 꿈꾸는 서정성 속에서 울려 나온다. 그러므로 비약, 압축, 생략된 내면화의 세계는 단형화된 시의 형태로 드러나며, 동일화될 수 없는 세계와 동일화를 꿈꾸는 자아의 심연에는 운명론적 태도가 내재되어 있다. 이런 모습은 시에서 '밤'의 이미지로 표현되고 있다. 이와 같이 본고에서는 임화 시의 변모 양상을 시의 양식과 리얼리즘의 관계 속에서 살펴보았는데, 양식적 변모와 함께 리얼리티의 변화도 나타난다는 사실은 시의 리얼리티 구현에 단편서사시 양식의 특성이 기능하고 있었다는 사실을 보여주는 것으로 리얼리즘 詩論의 한 가능성을 제시한다. 그리고 현대문학의 장르적 변화의 요인이라 할 수 있는 장르혼합의 양상이 시도됨으로써 시문학의 이해 지평을 확장시키고 있다.
