만5세 아동의 동조성에 관한 연구

Abstract

인간은 어떤 種類의 集團에 所屬하고 있으며 그 集團속에서 生活해 나가고 있다. 아동역시 그 주위의 여러 集團과의 관계속에서 살아가고 있다. 비사회적 아동을 그 사회에 어울려 살아갈 수 있도록 가치나 행동, 지식 등을 습득케 하는 과정을 社會化過程이라고 한다. 사회화과정을 거치는 동안 사회환경에서 요구하는 행동과 일치할 때도 있지만 그렇지 않을 경우도 있다. 이때 둘 사이에는 갈등이 일어나는데 이 갈등을 해소하기 위해서 그 집단에 同調(conformity)한다. 본 연구에서는 아동이 또래집단과의 사회화과정에서, 집단이 요구하는 내용과 개체의 욕구가 일치하지 않을 때 일어나는 동조의 행동의 경향에 대해서 알아보고 동조행동을 일으키는 변인에 대하여 살펴 보고자 한다. 이 목적을 遂行하기 위하여 유치원 아동 4명을 연구대상으로 하였다. 연구대상은 무선적으로 표집된 유치원 아동 30명에게 동조성 실험과 질문지 면접을 실시하여 그 결과를 참조로 유목적적 선정방법(Purposeful sampling method)을 통해 선정하였다. 연구대상의 동조행동을 알아보기 위해 질적연구방법(qualitative research method)중에서 수정된 분석적 귀납방법(modified analytic induction)의 절차를 이용하였다. 즉 개방적 면접 (open-ended interviewing)을 실시하여 수집된 자료를 해석( interpretation )하였다. 이상의 연구절차에 의거하여 얻은 결과를 기초로 하여 다음과 같이 結論을 抽出하였다. 동조행동의 경향으로 첫째, 자신은 A를 하고 싶고 친구들은 B를 하자고 제안하면 A를 포기하는 이유를 만들어 내고 나서 B에 동조하는 경향이 있다. 둘째, 친한 친구와 다투고 난 후, 친구와 사과하고 나서 다툰 친구가 제안한 일에는 동조하려는 경향이 있다. 셋째, 친구들이 반사회적 행동을 하자고 제안하면 자신의 내적기준에 비추어 보아, 그 기준을 넘어서는 일이면 동조하지 않고 기준을 넘어서는 일이 아니면 동조하는 경향이 있다. 넷째, 친구들과 행동을 같이 하겠다고 약속한 후에는 동조하는 경향이 있다. 다섯째, 자신이 생각해 보아서, 하고 싶기도 하고 하기 싫기도 하는 일을 친구들이 제안하면 제안한 일에 대해 동조하는 경향이 있다. 여섯째, 자신이 무척 A를 하고 싶은데 친구들이 B를 하자고 제안하면 제3의 새로운 대안을 선택하는 경향이 있다. (제 3의 새로운 대안에 대한 예는 김재우의 면접 5,6 회에서 찾아볼 수 있다). 일곱째, 동조하도록 요구하는 집단의 구성원이 많을 수록 동조하는 경향이 있다. 동조행동을 일으키게 하는 변인은 집단의 성격이나 집단원의 수, 집단이 제안하는 주제등과 같은 "상황적 변인( situational variables)'과 양육방법 혹은 자기 스스로 형성하여서 지니고 있다고 여기는 성격등과 같은 '개인적 특성'사이의 상호 영향력에 의해 동조행동이 일어난다.;One of the most important purpose of this study was to investigate the meaning and the implicit mechanism of social conforming through qualitative method. Especially qualitative method is regarded a valid method. The subjects for the qualitative study were 4 kindergarten children. A revised, standardized conformity experiment was undertaken to examine the conformity level of 30 children, then, 18 children was selected. A questionaire was administered to the 18 children to determine their conformity level in terms of neutral, prosocial and autisoclal behavior. After a series of participant observations, children were chosen through the purposeful sampling. The data was gather through a score of intensive interviews. Data was recorded and analyzed by the modified analytic induction method, then follows a careful interpretation. A number of working hypotheses constitute the conclusion of the study. 1. I want to do A, but my friends prefer to do B, then I give up A and choose B making a new pretext. 2. I want to do much A, but my friends prefer to do B. I construct a alternative neither A nor B. 3. Whether I want to do A or not, friends suggest to do B and I am inclined to conform B. 4. The bigger the number of group, the bigger to probability of conformity. 5. When my friend prefer an antisocial behavior. I am willing to conform it with some rational standards for social norm. 6. After quarrelling with my friends, I am incline to conform. 7. After I make a promise to follow their opinions, I am inclined to conform.
