노인을 위한 원예요법 프로그램 개발에 대한 문헌적 연구

Abstract

현재 우리사회는 급속한 고령화를 경험하고 있다. 이미 고령화 사회를 맞이한 우리사회는 2019년 노인인구의 비율이 14.4%에 달하는 고령사회로 진입할 것으로 예상된다. 노인인구비율의 증가는 1960년대 이후 급속하게 진행된 경제개발 및 근대화에 기인한다. 급격한 산업화가 가져다준 경제성장이라는 선물대신 이제는 노인문제라는 과제를 떠맡게 된 것이다. 급속한 산업화로 인해 나타난 노인문제 해결을 위해 가장 시급한 과제는 노인들에게 우리 사회 속에서 자신들의 역할과 삶의 보람을 찾으며 의욕적으로 살 수 있는 노후 여건을 마련해 주는 일이다. 본 연구에서는 이러한 노인문제에 대한 해결책으로서 원예요법에 바탕한 "원예요법 프로그램"을 제시한다. 원예요법이란 꽃이나 나무를 기르면서 몸과 마음의 병을 고치는 일종의 대체 요법이다. 이러한 원예요법의 효과는 많은 연구들을 통해 확인된 바 있다. 그러나 기존의 원예요법은 주로 장애인, 치매노인 등과 같이 특정 연령층이 아닌 장애자나 환자들을 중심으로 적용되어 왔다는 점에서 그 한계를 가진다. 이러한 기존 원예요법의 한계를 극복하고 노화로 인해 고통받는 노인들의 정신적·사회적 건강 증진을 도모하고 노년기의 삶의 질을 향상시켜 노인의 복지를 충족시키기 위한 대안으로서 원예요법을 검토한 후 노인들의 신체적·정신적·심리적 특징에 적합한 원예요법 프로그램을 재구성하는데 본 연구의 목적이 있다. 본 연구에서 개발되는 원예요법 프로그램을 통해 노인들은 원예요법을 활용하여 급격하게 변화하는 사회에서 신체적, 심리적, 사회적 고통을 덜어주어 인간답게 사는 삶 즉, 복지에 대한 요구를 충족시킬 수 있을 것으로 기대된다.;Horticultural Therapy is an alternative method for the remedy of mental and physical disease, with breeding flowers and trees. The effect of this method has been proved by many studies. But the existing Horticultural Therapy has been used mainly for ordinary disabled men and patients, not a specific group such as the disabled and the aged having dementia. In this study as an alternative plan for the removal of the limits of the existing Horticultural Therapy and the social welfare of the aged suffering from aging is presented the Horticultural Therapy. The purpose of this study is to develop Program for Horticultural Therapy appropriate for the mental and physical feature of the aged. In recent days, aging population in our country increases rapidly. Our society, that have already faced with ageing population, will arrive in aging society reaching 14.4 percent of total population in 2016 year. This increase in aging population is due to economic development and industrialization progressed rapidly since 1960. Now we were given the task of resolving the problem of the aged instead of the present, economic growth accomplished by rapid industrialization. The main task of resolving the problem of the aged is to provide the aged with living conditions that affect their role in society and their enthusiastic lives. In this study ''Program for Horticultural Therapy" based on Horticultural Therapy is presented as a resolving plan for this problem of the aged. Through the Program for Gardening Activity developed by this study, the aged will promote the quality of their life in rapidly changing society and meet the needs for welfare.
