Brocade기법에 관한 연구

Abstract

If we see the silk fabrics of the Persia that was the center of the silk road, it may be seen that admost all of them are decorated delicately with brilliant patterns. The figures aye what were directly woven by hand and were required of high level of techniques and senses. In their method, however, they do not demand so much complicate mechanics. There only emerge a problem of artistic sensibility that may be called a figurative value in teh aspect of organic and human design. This brocade technique, one of the decoative techniques expressed at the end of the hand by human sensibility, is a technique that can compose various patterns by using another warp or weft based on plain weave, and also than can be found everywhere in the world. This technique that can also express another decorative beauty of fabrics by transmitting light as an open technique that has a function as decorative figures is considered as a good subject matter which combines present aesthetic imagination with past technical problems to present a new figure of our age. Therefore, in this study, concepts of the brocade technique were first understood, and, then, species of it were defined according to them. And, from the light that it was most frequently used in the silk fabrics, the brocade fabrics that appeared along with the inter-East-and West silk roads were inquired into so as to have their variety and beauty fully appreciated. Also, such small pieces of fabrics, which made use of brocae techniques, that might be seen often in everyday practical life were examined to seek for some values in then as a practical art. In making the work up, nylon mono filament was made use of making the best of the transparency of the basic plain fabrics in order to employ the brocade technique most efficiently; luminous brocade yarn was employed to attain patterns; and, to lessen the light nature of the work by its transparency, the ob-artictic work was attempted by making use of a method of setting up pieces repeatedly.;인간이 직조기를 발명하면서 다양한 용도의 직물을 제작하게 되었고, 기능적 측면과 더불어 미적욕구에서 발생되는 장식적 측면에도 관심을 갖게 되었다. 이러한 미의 추구는 장식문양의 개발을 촉진하였으며 전통장식문화는 현재의 예술적 분야에서도 중요한 의미를 지니게 되었다. 세계전통문양에서 공통적으로 발견할 수 있는 장식기법중의 하나로서 브로케이드기법은 화려하고 다양한 무늬가 그 특징이며 기본기법은 평직을 기초로하여 다른 제3의 실을 사용하여 문양을 제작할 수 있다. 특히 화려한 견직물이 발달된 페르시아는 실크로우드의 중심지로서 섬세하고 다양한 문양의 브로케이드직물이 유명하다. 기본평직을 얇은 실로 직조함으로써 빛의 투과시, 두껍게 브로케이드된 실이 패턴을 형성하여 또 다른 장식미를 표출할 수 있는 이 기법은 현대의 미적 상상력과 과거의 기술적 문제들을 부합시켜 현시대의 새로운 형상을 표출시킬 수 있는 무한한 가능성을 지닌 기법이라 생각된다. 본 논문에서는 브로케이드기법의 종류와 방법을 알아보고 이 기법이 견직물에 많이 사용되었던 역사적 자료에 의해 동·서 실크로우드의 주변지역에 나타난 브로케이드 직물의 아름다움과 그 특징들을 연구하였고 실생활에서 볼 수 있는 브로케이드기법을 이용한 소품들을 통해 생활예술로서의 가치도 찾아보았다. 작품제작연구에서는 빛의 투과라는 브로케이드기법의 효과를 최대한 표현하기 위해 Nylon Monofilament Fiber를 사용하여 기본평직의 투명함을 강조하였고, 금·은사 테이프와 릴리앙사를 사용해 패턴을 구성하였으며 투명함이 주는 작품의 가벼움을 해소하기위해 피스(piece)를 반복 설치함으로써 시각적 일루젼을 부여한 작품을 제작하였다.
