WARP FACE WEAVE에 의해 표현되는 IKAT연구

Abstract

섬유예술의 조형활동의 범위가 넓어짐에 따라 기존의 방법들이 더 다양해지고 깊이를 더해가고 있다. 염색기술과 조직을 응용하여 짜여지는 Ikat 직물 역시 염색방법과 기법에 따라 다른 표현을 연출할 수 있으므로 그 적용방법의 개발은 섬유예술의 창작활동에 많은 영향을 주고 있다. 따라서 본 논문에서는 Warp가 강조되어 보이는 Warp face weave 기법으로 짜여지는 Ikat직물이 그 제작과정과 기법의 차이로 나타나는 표현효과를 연구함으로써 섬유예술에서 차지하는 Ikat직물의 제작 영역을 넓히고자 하였다. 본 연구의 방법으로는 먼저 Ikat의 일반적인 배경과 Warp face weave의 기법적 특성을 설명했으며, Warp face weave 기법을 이용한 Ikat의 실제적 작품제작, 그 결과에 따른 분석을 병행하였다. 이러한 연구과정의 결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째 : Sheds와 Sheds를 분리 Ikat함으로써 상이한 색선들의 조화와 날카로운 색선과 면의 흐름표현이 가능했으며, 속도감 내지 리듬감의 표현이 용이했다. 둘째 : 날실의 굵기 변화에 많은 영향을 받는 Warp face weave의 기법적 특성으로 인해서 표면상의 다양한 텍스츄어 효과를 얻을 수 있었다. 또한 Weft의 굵기 조절에 따라 직물의 앞과 뒤를 달리 보이게 할 수도 있었는데 이런 결과를 가져오기 위해서는 직물을 제직하기 전에 먼저 Sheds를 분리, 상이한 색상으로 염색한 후 가능했다. 세째 : Ikat한 후 직조한 결과 그 과정에서 오는 미묘한 차이로 해서 얻어지는 예상치 못한 결과는 오히려 작품의 자연스러움과 특이성에 기여했다. 네째 : Warp가 강조되므로 해서 강한 Ikat의 효과를 얻을 수 있었으며, Weft가 가장자리에서만 보여지지만 Weft 또한 작품 제작 면에서 중요한 요소로 작용함을 알 수 있었다.;In fabric art, the existing formative methods are becoming more varied and depended according to the expansion of the ranges in activities. The Iket fabric, which is woven by applying the dyeing techniques and fabric structures, can likewise perform different expressions according to the used dyeing methods and formative techniques. So, the development of applying methods has influence on the creative activities of fabric art. For this reason, in this study, how the expressional effects of the Ikat fabric on the warp face weave technique that layes an emphasis on the warp can be varied according to the different manufactring processes and techniques was explored to enlarge the range or scope of the ikat fabrics within fabric art. For this, first, the general background of ikat and the technical characteristics of the warp face weave were illucidated, and then, actual works of the ikat that made use of the warp face weave technique were manufactured together with an analysis of the outcomes. The results are as follows. First, by separating sheds one another, a harmony of different color lines and expressions of keen color lines and facial stream were possible, and the expression of the feeling of velocity of rhythm was plane. Second, the technical characteristics of the warp face weave that was greatly affected by variations on the thickness of yarns brought forth a variety of textual effects on the surface. Also, according to the control in thickness of weft, the front and back of the fabric could be seen distinctively, which effect was possible when the sheds were separated and dyed with different colors before they were woven into textiles. Third, the unexpected effect of the delicate shades from the weaving process rather contributed to the natural beauty and peculiarity of the work. Fourth, warp being emphasized, a strong effect of ikat could be taken, and also it was shown that weft likewise, though it might be seen merely in the edges, acted as important element from the aspect of making the pieces up.
