중학교 신·구 과학 교과서 중 생물영역에 대한 비교 분석연구

Abstract

우리나라 중학교 생물 교육과정 개선의 자료가 되도록 하기 위하여 1986년에 발행된 국내 중학교 국정 과학 교과서 1종3권과 새 교육과정(5차)에 의해 1988년에 제작된 중학교 검인정 과학 교과서 5종15권의 내용을 비교 검토하여 분석한 결과는 다음과 같다. 1. 새 교육과정에 의해 개편된 우리나라 중학교 과학 교과서는 종전에 문교부 발행의 통일된 단일교재에서 5종의 검인정 교과서를 발간함으로써 선택적 다양성을 강화하였다. 2. 새 교육과정은 구 교육과정(제4차)의 기본구조를 가능한 한 그대로 유지하면서 꼭 개선이 필요한 부분만 개정하는 것을 기본 원칙으로 하였기 때문에 구 교육과정과의 내용차이는 별로 없다. 3. 우리나라 중학교 과학 교과서는 학년 별로 나누어져 있고 신·구 교과서 모두 물리, 화학, 지학, 생물영역을 비교적 고르게 다루고 있으나 신·구 모두 생물영역의 강조도가 타 영역보다 높다. 4. 신 교과서 5종 모두 생물영역은 4개의 대단원과 10개의 중단원으로 같고 부분적으로 소단원명이 다를 뿐 교육과정에 의해 모두 획일적인 내용을 포함하고 있다. 5. 교과 내용면을 볼 때 주제로서 신·구 교과서 모두 구조와 기능 및 다양성과 단일성을 강조하고 있으며 구 교과서에 비해 1학년 신 교과서D는 진화를, 2학년 모든 신 교과서에는 생식기관을 새로 도입하여 다루고 있다. 6. 신 교과서의 수준 강조도는 구 교과서와 거의 비슷하게 개체와 조직ㆍ기관을 강조하고 분자와 군집수준은 다루고 있지 않으나 신 교과서 2학년은 교과서B를 제외하고 세포수준을 새로 도입하여 다루고 있다. 7. 신 교과서의 실험 빈도는 자연을 탐구하는데 필요한 기본적인 실험 및 실습 능력을 기르도록 하기 위해 구 교과서 보다 증가 했다. 8. 그림과 사진의 출현 빈도는 구 교과서와 거의 같지만 그림보다는 사진을 상대적으로 많이 삽입시켰을 뿐 아니라, 크기도 크고 상세하게 하여 학생들의 흥미 유발 및 이해를 돕고 있다. 9. 신·구 교과서의 내용면에서는 큰 차이가 없으나 학습내용의 선정, 조직을 보다 타당하고 적절하게 하여 탐구하는 과학방법을 습득하게 끔 구조화 한 점에서 구 교과서 보다 진일보 했다.;The purpose of this paper is to provide a material for the improvement of the biology curriculum of the middle school in our cuntry. To do this, I compared and analyzed the contents of a kind of 3 volumes of the government textbooks in middle school published in 1986 and 5 kinds of 15 volumes of the authorized textbooks published in 1988 which were made according to the new curriculum. The following is the result of this study: 1. A various kinds of the science textbooks in middle school are published according to the new curriculum. So the opportunity for us to choose a textbook is increased. 2. The new curriculum (5th) is not quite different from the former one, for the contents of the new one is mainly based on the former one (4th) except some parts which should be inevitably revised. 3. Though the science textbooks in middle school in our country are divided according to the grade and both the current and the former textbooks deal with physics, chemistry, biology, and geology relatively evenly, both lay more emphasis on biology than the other subjects. 4. With the same 4 units and 10 chapters except some sections, all the 5 kinds of current textbooks are almost same in contents according to the curriculum. 5. Considering curriculum, both the current and the former textbooks emphasize the structure and function as their subjects; In comparison with the former textbooks, while the current textbook "D" of 1st grade have newly introduced the evolution, the whole current textbooks of 2nd grade have newly introduced the genital organs. 6. Though the current textbooks emphasize the individuals, tissues, and organs and do not deal with a molecule and the level of biotic community like the former textbooks, the current textbooks of 2nd grade except the textbook "B" have newly introduced and are dealing with the level of a cell. 7. The frequency of experiments of the current textbooks have increased so that the students enhance their ablities to execute basic experiments and practices which are necessary in investigating the nature. 8. Though the frequency of appearances of pictures and photos in the current textbooks are almost same as the former textbooks, the current textbooks inserted relatively more photos than pictures and moreover, their larger size and more exquisiteness are inducing interest to the students and helping their understanding. 9. Though being not so different in their contents from the former textbooks, the current textbooks have made a step forward at the point of view of their being stuructured for the students to acquire the scientific methods of investigating through the appropriate and effective selection and organization of the curriculum.
