민화의 조형성과 현대적 전개

Abstract

민화는 민족의 생활양식과 철학 및 민족정서의 사상을 미의식적 조형감각을 통하여 可視的으로 표출된 것이다. 그러므로 민화는 민족회화로 한국미술사에서 중대하게 다루어져야 할 부분이지만 대부분 작가가 알려지지 않았거나 제작연대가 불분명하여 미술사적 연구가 어려운 실정이다. 본 연구의 목적은 조선후기 민화의 조형성과 현대적 전개양상을 규명하는데 있다. 방법으로는 참고문헌과 작품을 토대로 하였다. 작품의 표집방법은 민화에 나타난 구도 선 색채 등 회화적 특색이 있는 작품 44점과 민화의 현대적 전개양상을 밝히기 위하여 민화적인 소재 구도 색감 등을 작품에 표현한 현대작가 여섯분 중에서 민화적인 특징을 갖은 작품 10점과 소재적 원용을 한 작품 6점을 목적표출하였다. 자료처리 방법은 민화의 표현형식의 구성요소인 구도, 선, 색채의 조형성을 분석하여 표현상의 특징과 작품에 나타난 회화적 특성을 단순성, 무계획성, 해학성, 추상성, 천진성, 창조성으로 나누어 분석하였고 이러한 민화의 특성이 어떻게 현대회화에 계승되고 있는가도 박 생광, 김 기창, 전 혁림 등의 작품을 통하여 밝혀보았다. 민화의 특수한 발상과 분방한 표현은 현대적 감각에 부합되고 민화적인 구도, 선, 색채의 표현과 그 소재적 원용으로 현대회화로의 가능성이 보이게 되었다. 민화의 조형성과 회화적 특성을 살펴본 결과 독창적인 조형성을 내포하고 있는 회화쟝르로 이 시대에 부응될 미의식의 요소가 충분히 있다고 보고 한국화의 창조적 방향 모색에 밑거름이 되고자 한다.;"Min-Hwa" or folk art of a nation depicts visually way of life, philosophy, emotionality, and way of thinking of a certain people through 'their unconscious creative sense. Min-Hwa, therefore , should be emphasized in Korean art history as national painting. Academicians find it hard to scrutinize Min-Hwa in art- historical approach because they do not have enough data about its producers and production years. Purpose of this study is to illuminate creativity and modern development of Korean folk art. First, concept of Min-Hwa was clarified to offer general understanding. Next, its formation and evolution was analyzed historically and socio-economically. Typology by the former theorists of folk art was introduced and their faults were criticized . New approach and methodology were also illustrated. Diagramming, lines and creative colors comprising expressive technique of Min-Hwa were analyzed in the main text. Expressive specialties such as dynamism, simplicity, randomness, humor, abstraction, innocence and creativity found in many works on Min- Hwa were delineated. How such features were inherited to the descendants was exemplified through the works of the modern artists such as Park Sang Kwang, Kim Ki Chang and Chun Hyuk Rim. Originality and unrestrained expression correspond to modern art; diagramming, lines ans expressive colors of Min-Hwa have been applied experimentally. As a conclusion, Min-Hwa should be established as a distinctive genre having original creativity which harmonizes with modern artistic consciousness.
