한국 초ㆍ중ㆍ고등학교 및 대학교 교과서에 사용된 기상학 관련 용어에 관한 연구

Abstract

자연 과학 분야에서 용어를 통일성있고 바르게 사용한다는 일은 어느분야에서 보다도 중요하다. 특히 우리가 일상 생활에서 흔히 접하게 되는 기상에 관련된 용어는 정확하고 통일성 있게 사용되지 않으면 큰 혼란이 야기될 수도 있다. 이러한 관점에서 이 연구는 초.중.고등학교 및 대학교 교과서에서 사용된 기상학 관련 용어를 뽑아 용어의 통일성 및 연계의 정도를 알아보고 또 용어의 구성어를 조사 분석하여, 다음과 같은 결론을 얻었다. ① 현행 초.중.고 및 대학교 교과서에서 뽑은 기상학 관련 용어는 451종류이었는데, 동일 의미 및 개념을 다르게 표현한 용어를 한 부류로 취급한 결과 293부류가 되었다. 따라서 통일되지 않은 용어가 많음을 알 수 있는데, 초.중.고 및 대학교 전 과정에서 통일된 것은 180종류(39.9%)에 불과하였다. ② 고등학교 교과서에는 초.중.고 및 대학교에서 사용된 전체 451종류의 88.0%에 해당하는 397종류의 용어가 사용되고 있었다. ③ 국민학교와 중학교, 중학교와 고등학교 간의 연계성은 좋은 편이었으나 고등학교와 대학교 간의 연계성은 그렇지 못하였다. ④ 전체 용어 중 한자어로만 된 용어가 372종류(82.5%)로 대부분을 차지하고 있었으며 순 우리 말로만 된 용어나 우리 말과 한자어의 합성용어는 적었고 (46종류, 10.2%), 외래어 표기법은 문교부가 제정한 외래어 표기법을 잘 따르고 있었다. 그리고 용어의 비 통일을 초래하게 된 원인은 학술 용어 및 보급의 미흡과 학자들 간의 견해차 등에 있다고 볼 수 있었다.;In Science education it is extremely important that terminologies in the field of science should correctly with uniformity and consolidation. For this, a total of textbooks including elementary, middle, high school and college in Korea were analyzed in the light of terminologies of meteorological part of them. Following results were obtained from the investigation of the uniformity and interlinked connection of the meteorological terminologies. 1. Meteorological terminologies in the various textbooks currently used by the elementary, middle, high school and college in Korea are consisted of 451 kinds which are classified into 293 categories. Therefore, each single terminology might have been in various meanings. 2. 18(6.1%) terminologies were used in elementary school textbooks, 113(25.1%) were in middle school, 397(88.0%) were in high school and 357(79.2%) were in college respectively. Only 17(3.8%) terminologies of them were used in common. As a result of analysis of terminology used in every school textbooks, some problems were indicated, and some propositions were revealed out.
