Suzuki Talent Education에 관한 연구

Abstract

본 논문은 현재 일본을 비롯하여 세계 각 국의 음악교육에서 크게 관심을 모으고 있는 스즈끼 재능교육(Talent Education)을 연구하여 그의 교육철학과 학습원리 및 지도방법 등을 소개하는데 그 목적이 있다. 재능교육이란 어린애가 모국어를 습득하는 과정에 근거를 두고 그 원리를 음악교육에 이용하여 음악을 통해 참다운 것, 선한 것, 아름다운 것을 몸에 익히는 교육이다. 스즈끼는 어린이의 모국어학습방법(mother tongue method)의 원리를 바이올린 지도에 적용하였다. 인간의 재능은 선천적인 것이 아니며, 모국어의 경우와 같이 누구나 개발이 가능한 것이다. 따라서 교육방법만 좋으면 어떠한 재능도 개발할 수 있으며 그러기 위해서는 환경이 매우 중요하다. 스즈끼는 모국어를 배우는 것과 같은 환경을 조성하면 재능을 훌륭히 개발시킬 수 있다는 생각으로 재능교육을 전개하였다. 본 논문에서 연구하고자 하는 내용은 다음과 같다. 첫째, 문헌을 통한 조기교육의 이론적 배경 둘째, 스즈끼의 교육철학과 재능교육의 원리 세째, 스즈끼 재능교육 교수방법 이를 위한 연구방법은 조기교육에 관한 여러 관계문헌 및 미국에서 발행되는 음악교육 전문잡지인 'Music Educators Journal'을 비롯한 그 외의 정기학술지를 통하여 조사하는 문헌연구이다. 스즈끼의 교육철학은 인간의 능력은 환경에 의해 무한히 개발될 수 있다는 신념과 어린애를 한 인격체로서 존중하는 원리에 입각하여 음악을 통해 모든 어린이들이 보다 원만하고 행복한 삶을 영위하도록 하는데 근본적인 핵심이 있다. 따라서 재능교육의 목적은 전문적인 연주가를 양성하는 것이 아니라, 어린이들이 지니고 있는 무한한 잠재능력을 최대한 개발시키는 것이다. 재능교육은 레코드 듣기와 충분한 반복훈련, 암기식 지도, 어머니의 조력 등으로 학습이 이루어지는데 이는 어린이의 심리에 잘 맞도록 짜여진 것이며 매우 효과적인 방법이다. 이와 같이 스즈끼의 교육철학과 학습원리는 그의 동료, 제자들에 의해 더욱 발전되어 오늘날에는 피아노, 첼로, 플루우트 등 다른 악기교육에도 널리 쓰이고 있다. 이 재능교육을 아직 우리나라에서는 생소하나 앞으로는 스즈끼 재능교육을 통한 실험연구와 현장연구가 많이 나오기를 바란다.;This study is to investigate Suzuki Talent Education that now attracts world's attention a great deal including Japan, and to introduce Suzuki's philosophy of education, teaching principles and guiding methods. Based on the children's acquiring process of mother-tongue, the talent education has its purport to accustom them to something true, good and beautiful through music by using the above basic principles into music education. Suzuki has applied the principles of mother-tongue method to violin learning. Man's talent is not inherent, but it can be developed as in the case of mother-tongue. Therefore, if the method of education is good, we could develop any talent, and in doing this, the educational environment is very important. Suzuki has developed the talent education from the viewpoint that the could develop talents remarkably by arranging surroundings. The details to be investigated in this study are as follows: First, the theoretical background of early education through reference books. Secondly, Suzuki's philosophy of education and principles of talent education. Thirdly, the educating methods of Suzuki Talent Education. The method of investigation on these details is that of bibliography study. Therefore, various referential studies on early education and academic periodicals including "Music Educators Journal", one major magazine of music education in America have been studied. It is Suzuki's philosophy of education that we must regard a child as a personal being and guide all the children to more satisfactory and happier life through music believing that children's capacities can be infinitely developed according to the circumstances. Therefore, the purpose of talent education is not in cultivating the professional musician, but in developing all the potential abilities of a child to the utmost. The talent education consists of such programs as record listening, thorough repeating exercise and memory instruction, and mothers' help. This educating method in very efficient in accordance with children's psychology. This philosophy and teaching principles of Suzuki Talent Education have been developed further by his peers, and they are now widespread in the field of instrumental education such as piano, cello and flute instruction. This talent education is rather unfamiliar to Korean educator, but I hope there will be many experimental studies and field researches.
