교육과정 변천에 따른 유치원과 국민학교 1학년의 과학교육 연계성 연구

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to investigate the objectives and the contents of science education in the kindergarten and the first grade of primary school. And it is to find changes and articulation in the process of science curriculum revision. The questions of the study are as follows: 1. What are the objectives and the content of science education in the kindergarten? 2. What are the objectives and the contents of science education in the first grade of primary school? 3. What is the articulation between kindergarten and the first grade of primary school in the objectives and the contents of science education? The data of this story were curriculum published in 1969, 1979, 1981, 1987 for the kindergarten, and these of 1955, 1963, 1973, 1981, 1987 for the primary school. The results of the study ar as follows: 1. The objectives and the contents of science education in the kindergarten have been changed from sheer gaining scientific knowledge, ability and attitude toward the life science education which can be applied to real life based on the interests and need of children to the basic concept of science and the pursuit of scientific inquiry. 2. The objectives and the contents of science education th the first grade of primary school have been changed from teaching of miscellaneous scientific knowledge based on the life-centered curriculum to teaching basic concept of science and the processes of scientific inquiry based on the discipline-centered curriculum like the science education in the kindergarten. 3. The objectives of science education have not been articulated between kindergarten and the first grade of primary school on the science curriculum. But the contents of science curriculum have been gradually articulated between two educational units. Especially the field of biological science have bee well articulated form the first time of making kindergarten curriculum. But the field of physics and earth science have been increasingly articulated.;본 연구는 우리나라 유치원과 국민학교 1학년의 교육과정 변천에 따른 과학교육의 목표와 내용을 살펴봄으로써 두 교육기관의 과학교육이 어떻게 변화되어 왔는지 알아보고, 유치원과 국민학교 1학년 과학교육과정상의 연계성은 어떻게 이루어져 왔는지 그 변화를 살펴봄을 연구의 목적으로 하였다. 이러한 목적을 위하여 다음과 같이 연구문제를 설정하였다. 1. 교육과정 변천에 따라 유치원 과학교육의 목표와 내용은 어떻게 이루어져 왔는가? 2. 교육과정 변천에 따라 국민학교 1학년 과학교육의 목표와 내용은 어떻게 이루어져 왔는가? 3. 교육과정 변천에 따라 유치원과 국민학교 1학년 과학교육 목표와 내용에 있어서 연계성은 어떻게 이루어져 왔는가? 본 연구에서는 1969년에 제정되어 1979년, 1981년, 1987년 개정된 유치원 교육과정과 1955년에 제정되어 1963년, 1973년, 1981년 1987년 개정된 국민학교 1학년 교육과정에서 과학교육의 목표와 내용을 비교 분석하였다. 본 연구의 결과는 다음과 같다. 1. 유치원 과학교육의 변화 과정을 살펴보면 1969년도 교육과정에서는 생활중심 교육과정에 영향을 받아 목표와 내용이 모두 아동의 흥미와 욕구에 기초한 실생활에 응용할 수 있는 과학적인 지식과 능력, 태도를 주로 다루었다. 1979년도 교육과정부터 학문중심 교육과정에 영향을 받아 과학의 기본개념 형성과 탐구능력, 과학적인 태도 습득에 목표를 두고 내용도 이에 준하여 선정하였다. 다만 1981년도 교육과정에서는 내용이 약간 추가되어졌다. 1987년도 교육과정에서는 교육내용을 삭제시키고 대신 하위목표를 설정하여 유치원 현장에서 이루어지는 교육활동에 재량권을 부여하였다. 2. 국민학교 1학년 과학교육의 변화과정을 살펴보면 1955년도 교과과정과 1963년도 교육과정은 생활중심 과학교육이 이루어졌다. 1955년도 교과과정에서는 과학교육의 목표와 내용을 생물의 생활, 자연의 변화, 천체의 움직임, 건강한 생활, 기계와 연모의 작용등 다섯분야로 나누어 제시하였다. 1963년도 교육과정에서는 생물, 천문지학, 물상별로 목표와 내용을 나누어서 제시하였다. 1973년도 교육과정부터는 학문중심 교육과정의 영향으로 과학의 기본개념형성과 탐구방법 습득을 과학교육목표로 하였다. 1973년도 교육과정에서는 물질과 생명의 과학 기본개념과 관찰과 분류의 탐구방법을 과학교육 내용으로 선정하였다. 1981년도 교육과정에서는 과학적인 흥미와 태도에 관한 정의적 목표가 새로 첨가되었고 자연과의 산수과를 통합한 「슬기로운 생활」의 교과서가 활용되었다. 1987년도 교육과정에서는 '슬기로운 생활 '의 통합교육과정이 처음으로 설정되어졌다. 3. 유치원과 국민학교 1학년 사이의 교육과정 변천에 따른 과학 교육 목표와 내용간의 연계성을 검토해 본 결과 목표간의 연계성은 잘 이루어지지 않았다. 생활중심이나 학문중심 교육과정에 영향을 받은 교육과정들 사이에도 같은 해에 함께 개정된 교육과정에서도 연계성은 이루어지지 않았다. 내용간의 연계성은 전체적으로 서서히 이루어져 왔다. 각 분야별로 살펴보면 생물분야에서는 처음의 생활중심 교육과정에 영향을 받았을때부터 연계성이 비교적 잘 이루어져 왔다. 그러나 물상분야에서는 교육과정이 개정됨에 따라 점차적으로 연계성이 이루어져 왔고 지구과학분야는 1981년도 교육과정에서부터 이루어지기 시작하여 가장 연계성이 고려되지 않은 분야였다.
