- Abstract
In this thesis, for the grand unified models of the basic interactions based on SU(5), SO(10), E_(6), E_(7), we show how the liptons and the quarks unified.
In Georgi-Glashow SU(5) model, we show that the fermion assignments are placed in a reducible (5)*+(10) representation. One of the most remarkable features of the GG model if the proton decay that is predicted by the lepto-quark boson and the dipuark bonson appearing in this model. We show how to predict the proton lifetime and the b-quark mass. The heavy SU(5) monopole mass is predicted.
In SO(10) unified model, we show that the fermion assignments are placed in a 16-dimensional representation, after studying the SU(n)⊂SO(n) content of the representation. We show how to predict the t-quark mass by the Higgs mechanism.
In E_(6) unified model, we show that all left-handed fermions are placed in two 27's representations.
In E_(7) unified model, we show that the fermion assignments are placed in a 56's representation. The predictions and the weak points of the each model are reviewed in brief.
