우리나라 중학교 과학과정내 지구과학분야의 문제점 고찰

Abstract

본 연구는 우리나라 중학교 과학교과과정에 포함되어 있는 지구과학의 교육실태를 조사하였다. 이 교육을 직접 담당하고 있는 일선교사와 이 교육을 받은 학생들에게 설문을 통하여 조사하였다. 그 결과, 우리나라 중학교 지구과학 교육에는 다음과 같은 4개항으로 요약되는 문제점이 파악되었다. 1 .배당된 시간에 비해 교과내용이 너무 많아서 충분한 교육을 할 수 없다. 2. 지구과학을 가르치는 교사 중 지구과학을 전공한 교사는 극히 소수이어서 가르치기 매우 힘들어 하며 따라서 교육내용이 불실해진다. 3. 실험 및 관측등을 통한 과학적인 산 교육을 못하고 있다. 4. 지구과학에 대한 새로운 학설 및 정보가 잘 제공되지 않고 있다. 위의 문제점들을 해결하기 위한 제언을 다음과 같이 해 보았다. 1. 각 학교에 지구과학을 전공한 교사를 배치하여야 하며 2. 실험 ·실습 및 관찰에 필요한 기재를 더 충분히 준비하고 3. 강의 위주의 교육방법을 지양하고 시청각교육을 더 많이 했으면 한다. 이상과 같은 제언들이 이루어 졌을 때 지구과학교육이 성공을 걷을 수 있다고 .본다.;This paper was atempted to study the actual condition of the education for Earth Science in middle school in Korea through questions consisting of several items to the teachers who are teaching and to the students who are learning Earth Science in middle schools. The study has revealed that our Earth Science education in middle school has the following 4 problems which are desirable to be solved. (1) As long as we stick to our conventional education method, the contents of the subject to be taught in middle school are to much to be digested within presently given time. (2) Among teachers who are teaching the subject in middle school, very few have Earth Science as their main study and majority of them have their main study other than Earth Science. Accordingly many of them have not sufficient knowledge on Earth Science to teach well. (3) The teaching of Earth Science in middle school has mainly been performed by abstract lecture instead of concrete experiments and observation. (4) The teachers can not easily get new information and research on the subject. This paper suggests the following methods to solve the above problems. (1) Every middle school shall have at least one teacher whose main study is Earth Science. (2) Every middle school shall have one classroom in where the tools and equipment for experiments and observations of the subject are installed and in where the subject is taught. (3) As the result of the above measures, the way of education shall be converted from the old way which consist of mainly lecture to the new way which consist of mainly experiments and observations. (4) With this new way of education the whole contents of the subject will be successfully educated within the time presently allowed without any increasing of teaching time.
