막스에른스트 꼴라쥬에 의한 패턴 코디네이션 디자인 연구

Abstract

20세기는 두 차례의 세계대전으로 인한 격동의 시대임과 동시에 정보와 지식의 폭증으로 인한 과학기술의 급격한 발전을 이룬 시대이다. 이에 사회, 경제, 문화예술 또한 많은 변화의 과정을 거치면서 다양화, 개성화의 용구가 높아짐에 따라 현대인들은 물질적 풍요에서 정신적 풍요로, 문명지향에서 문화지향으로의 변화를 서두르게 되었고 삶의 물질적 풍요가치보다는 정신적 풍요가치를 더욱 중시하게 되었다. 이에 따라 개성을 중시하는 현대인들에게 의복의 개념 또한 단순히 “입는다”라는 신체보호적 기능보다는 자기연출의 욕구 증가에 따른 감성적 개념으로 변화되어 의복의 소재가 되는 텍스타일 패턴디자인의 중요성이 점차 부각되고 있는 추세이다. 한편 우리 나리의 섬유산업 분야에서는 산업혁명 이후 기계화를 통한 대량생산이 가능해지면서 급속한 양적 성장을 이룩하였다. 그러나 양적 성장에만 치중한 나머지 기술과 디자인 개발은 소홀히 함으로써 시대적 흐름인 고급화·개성화·다양화에 미치지 못하는 결과를 초래하게 되었고, 결국 섬유산업의 자립 발전에 한계를 노출하고 있다. 그러므로 소비자 생활수준의 향상과 소비성향의 다양화·구매행동의 변화·유행성 등 소비패턴 자체가 다양해지는 시대적 경향에 따라 이제는 디자인과 품질향상 등 질적 요소인 고부가 가치 추구에 전력을 기울여 새로운 전환을 모색해야 할 시점에 있다고 본다. 이에 본 연구에는 섬유산업의 중추적인 분야인 텍스타일 패턴디자인의 중요성을 인식하고 창의적이고 경쟁력 있는 디자인의 개발에 연구의 목적을 두었다. 이러한 연구의 목적을 달성하기 위하여 첫째, 20세기초 큐비즘을 기점으로 현대미술에 새로운 양식으로 주목받게 된 꼴라쥬는 섬유예술 분야에서도 다양한 표현기법이나 재료의 사용 등으로 화면 속에서의 공간적 깊이감, 색채적 특정, 불체의 질감을 강조해 줌으로써 더욱 풍부한 조형성을 창조하게 되었다. 특히, 초현실주의의 기본정신을 대변하는 작가 에른스트의 꼴라쥬는 초현실의 공상을 표현하기 위해 초현실주의의 시어에 해당하는 시각적 현실의 리얼리티를 무의식 속에 결합, 우연의 효과를 얻어내려 했다는 점에서 그 의미를 고찰하여 작품제작의 이론적 배경으로 하였다. 둘째, 막스에른스트의 꼴라쥬 특성과 기법 중 프로타쥬와 데칼코마나를 중심으로 그 기법의 발생 배경과 특성에 대해 고찰해 보고 기법에서 얻어지는 환상적이고 우연적인 질감을 텍스타일 패턴디자인의 모티브로 설정하고 호료를 이용해서 얻어지는 다양한 질감과 결합시켜 텍스타일 패턴디자인에 적용시켜 보았다. 그 결과 호료를 이용해서 표현되어지는 프로타쥬와 데칼코마니 기법과 같은 우연한 효과와 다양한 질감들은 디자인의 모티브로서 새롭고 독특한 효과를 볼 수 있었고, 따라서 개성적이고 경쟁력 있는 텍스타일 패턴디자인 개발 가능성을 제시할 수 있었다. 또한 개발되어진 텍스타일 패턴디자인이 서로 코디네이션 되어 사용 가능성의 확장에 대한 고찰도 해 보았다. 셋째, 우리의 주위환경에서 쉽게 찾아볼 수 있고 많은 사람들이 선호하는 패턴을 중심으로 전개방법에 따라 분류하여 보고 패턴의 코디네이션 개념과 섬유미술에서 중요한 질감의 조형요소에 대해 알아보았다. 이 연구의 결과로 텍스타일 디자인의 전형적인 디자인이 아닌 예술과의 접목을 통한 새로운 조형요소들의 발견은 창조적 디자인을 개발할 수 있는 가능성을 확인시켜 주었고 시시각각 매우 빠르게 변화하는 국제 시장의 패션 라이프 싸이클에 맞춰 패션의 기본이 되는 텍스타일 패턴디자인 개발을 촉진하고 발전하는 데 연구방법론을 제시하였다고 본다. ; 20th century has been an era of convulsion with two great wars as well as an age of rapidly developing science and technology full of information and knowledge. A lot of changes followed in society, economy, culture and art, promoting the demand for diversity and individuality. Contemporary men began to shift their focus from material opulence to mental values, from civilization to culture. Consequently, the concept of clothing also changed from simply wearing it to protect the body into an emotional one to fulfill the desire of self-presentation. Today, the importance of textile pattern design: for the material of clothes is increasingly emphasized. In the mean time, as mass production has been made possible through mechanization since the industrial revolution, a rapid growth in the textile industry took place. Putting undue stress to quantitative growth, however, led to a tardiness in developing techniques and design to catch up with the contemporary trend of preferring quality, individuality and diversity. As a result, the self-development of textile industry is now exposing a limitation. The trend of the time accompanied by raised standard of living, diversified consumption patterns, changed purchase behavior, and the inclination for the latest fads indicates that now is the time to attempt a new turn, devoting best efforts to create high added value through the improvement of design and quality. This paper is intended to supply a theoretical ground to develop a creative and competitive design, recognizing the importance of textile pattern design, a hub of textile industry. To achieve this: First, I studied the technique of collage, which has been noticed as a new style of contemporary art since Cubism of the early Mm century. When used with various material and techniques of expression in the works of textile art, it highlights the depth of space, coloristic feature; and the textural quality of objects, enriching their formative beauty. Fspeaally, the collage of Max Ernst, one of the representatives of the basic spirit of Surrealism, attempted to bring out an incidental effect by combining the visual reality, the poetic diction of Surrealism, with unconsciousness to express the vision of the surreal. I studied the meaning of his collage technique to take it as a theoretical basis for my work. Second, focusing on the techniques of frottage and decalcomania among Max Ernst s collage techniques, I studied the background of their origin and their characteristics. I took the fantastic and incidental texture created by them as a motif of textile pattern design and combined it with a variety of textures generated using paste (C.M.C) to apply them in the work of textile pattern design The diverse textures and instal effects of hottage and decalcomania expressed by paste cx.m.c created a new and peculiar style, which presented the possibility to develop a unique and five textile pattern design. I also searched for the possibility to utilize the designs developed in this way being combined together in coordination Finally, focusing on the patterns found easily in our surrounding environment and loved by many people, I classified them to study the formative elements which are valued highly in textile art regarding the pattern coordination. I think that the possibility to develop a new creative design has been presented by the discovery of new formative elements through the contact with art other than the typical textile design, and a methodology of study has been provided to promote the development of competitive textile pattern design catching up with the life cycle of fashion in the rapidly changing international market, as a result of this study.
