탈형식, 탈의미를 통해 본 섬유표현

Abstract

역사적으로 각 시대의 정치, 사회, 문화 전반에서 오는 변화는 다양한 예술 사조를 생성했고, 이러한 상황이 오늘날 많은 분야에 적지 않은 영향을 끼치고 있는 것을 확인할 수 있다. 21세기를 살아가고 있는 지금, 예술의 경향은 각자의 고유한 영역이 무너지는데 있다. 섬유예술에 있어서는 컴퓨터와 다른 과학기술의 발달로 새로운 형태의 창작물들이 쏟아져 나오고 있으며, 이에 발맞추어 섬유예술가들은 그들의 사상을 다양한 방식의 작품으로 표현하고 있다. 본 연구는 이처럼 시시각각 변화하는 여러 가지 현대 예술 분야 중에서도, 섬유예술, 특히 직조(織造)를 함으로써 얻어지는 결과물들이 어떤 측면으로 해체주의와 연관될 수 있는지 연구하는 것에 그 목적이 있다. 해체주의에 관한 연구는 철학, 인문 사회, 문예비평 분야는 물론 건축 분야에서 많은 연구가 있어 왔지만, 아직도 많은 논의의 쟁점을 가지고 있다. 더욱이 섬유예술은 회화와 조각과 달리 대중에게 아직까지는 친숙하지 않은 분야인데, 이러한 철학 사조를 접목시켜 총체적으로 연구하는 것에 있어 어느 정도 위험부담을 가지고 있다고 말할 수도 있겠다. 하지만, 해체주의의 특성인 <상호텍스트성>은 사회 전반의 여러 분야와 섬유예술이 연관이 된다고 생각한다. 또 예술 간의 상호 교류를 통해 얻어지는 다양한 결과물들을 창출할 수 있는 가능성을 가지고 있다는 점에서 그 연구 가치가 있겠다고 하겠다. 본 연구의 내용은 이론적 배경으로 프랑스의 철학자인 쟈끄 데리다(Jacques Derrida)의 해체주의라는 철학 사조의 이념과 특성을 알아보고, 이것이 예술과 어떻게 연관지어 어떻게 표현되어질 수 있는지를 알아보았다. 이것을 토대로 섬유 예술에 나타났다고 보여지는 해체주의적 요소들과 작품들을 알아보았다. 작품 제작에 있어서는 주로 직기를 사용하여 나온 결과물들을 해체 주의의 여러 가지 특성들 중 첫째로, 탈형식(脫形式)의 요소를 적용하여 경사와 위사가 서로 만나 평직으로 짜여졌으나, 짜여진 직물처럼 보이지 않게 하였다. 둘째는 탈의미(脫意味)의 특성을 가지고, <자아>라는 텍스트의 해체를 시도하였다. 이러한 연구를 통해 얻어진 결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 문학 비평에서 시작된 해체주의적 사고는 현대의 다원주의적 경향에 맞게 여러 예술분야에 적용되고 있으며, 섬유 예술에도 그 영역이 확장되고 있음을 알 수 있었다. 둘째, 해체주의적 시대 성향에 맞게 예술간의 벽이 무너지고, 섬유예술이 다른 분야들과의 접촉을 통해서 그 영역이 확장되고 있음을 재확인 할 수 있었다. 세째, 직조를 통해 얻어진 결과물들은 탈형식이라는 물리적인 방법, 다른 오브제와의 결합으로 인한 탈의미의 방법으로 인한 2차적인 과정을 통해 해체주의의 개념에 맞게 재해석 할 수 있었다. 네째, 이렇게 해체적 작업을 하여 창출된 결과물들은 그 제목과의 연관성을 찾아 작품 속에 숨겨진 작가의 의도를 읽어 내려하는 과정이 숨겨져 있다는 점에서 <해체주의 예술>에 속한다는 것을 증명할 수 있었다. 따라서 본 연구 결과들을 통해서 현 시대에 영향을 미치고 있는 해체주의라는 예술 사조가 해체주의적 사고를 통해 해석되고 읽혀지는 것이라는 것을 알 수 있었다. 아울러 탈형식· 탈의미라는 해체주의의 시각을 통해 본 섬유예술에서의 연구는 앞으로 비단, 미술뿐만이 아니라 문학, 건축 등 여러 분야와의 접목을 시도함으로써 순수 예술로서 더 많은 발전의 가능성이 있다는 것을 재조명할 수 있었다. ;Historically changes in politics, society and culture have created various forms of art and affected other parts of society. As of 21th century, each unique characteristics in art are getting vague. The development of new technology in computer and other sciences have encouraged to create art forms that we ve never seen before and also, artists in fiber put their ideologies or special aim for something into works in various ways. This study tries to purpose a point of view to see how we think fiberart in deconstruction which is quite main stream in nowadays. Eventhough there have been lots of studies about deconstruction in philosophy, linguistics, criticism and etc. still, it has a bit of negative view points in some ways. It might be slightly difficult to study fiberart on deconstruction which is a little far from major arts to the public on but <intertexuality> which is main conception of this theory provides potential value as a research subject. The contents of this study are composed of three parts; those are how we read paintings, fiber works, what out-of-forms and out-of-meanings are in deconstruction. The strategy of this study is to remake or display outcomes from a loom that is woven fabric to disguise as nonwoven stuffs and think <self> as a text in deconstruction. Through this research, found result is as following. 1. It is possible to think fiber as deconstructionist art which is originally derived from philosophy and literature in contemporary culture. 2. It could reaffirm that wall between arts are collapsing and the definition of fiberart is getting extended with other ares in art. 3. Results that is found through weaving could be recreated according to process for out-of-form and read of out-of-meaning in deconstruction. 4. Invented results could be certified as an deconstructionist art by relations with intended titles of works. Through these outcomes of study, deconstructionist art is from thinking in post-modern ways. Also, there are lots of possibilities in fiberart and it could be mentioned in other arts ares through thinking in deconstruction.
