대학부설 평생교육기관의 음악교육 프로그램에 관한 연구

Abstract

고대 그리스의 철학자였던 플라톤에 의해 인간을 위한 교육이 강조된 이후로부터 지금까지 교육은 사회 속에서 절대적인 가치를 지난 것으로 여겨져 왔다. 인간이 요람에서 무덤에 이를 때까지 끊임없이 배워야 한다는 것은 이제 더 이상 강조할 필요가 없는 당연한 사실이 되었다. 특별히 현대사회에서 나타나는 급격한 과학과 기술의 변화, 지식과 정보의 폭발적인 증가와 그 수명의 단축, 직업구조의 변화 및 전문화는 인간의 문화적 욕구 수준의 향상을 가져왔으며 가치의 다원화 등을 야기하였다. 이로 인해 개인의 자아실현과 사회적응을 위해 생활 속에서 이루어져야 할 교육의 중요성이 날로 부각되고 있으며, 평생교육의 필요성이 대두되고 있다. 현대사회에서 학교의 기능은 다양하게 변화하고 있는데, 특히 대학은 학문의 연구 및 발달을 위해서 뿐만 아니라, 모든 사람이 일생동안 배움을 통하여 자아를 실현할 수 있는 학습의 장으로 존재해야 한다. 따라서 대학은 특정한 기간 동안에만 제공되는 학습의 장이 아닌 사람이 평생동안 배울 수 있는 교육의 장이어야 한다. 특히 성인들은 과거 정규 교육기간에서 경험하지 못한 새로운 사실들을 보충하거나 재교육 받을 수 있는 기회를 갖기 원하고 있다. 그러므로 대학은 성인들에게 평생교육의 기회를 제공할 수 있어야만 하고, 그에 적합한 프로그램을 계속적으로 연구하고 적용해야 하는 것이다. 인간은 음악을 통해 보다 인간답게 살아갈 수 있다. 그러므로 현대사회를 살아가는 인간에게 음악은 평생동안 함께 해야 할 중요한 요소 중 하나인 것이다. 음악은 인류가 시작된 이래로 지금까지 어느 시대를 막론하고 존재해 왔으며, 음악교육도 인류의 문화사의 발달과 필연적으로 연관되어 발전해 왔다. 음악교육의 궁극적인 목적은 각 사람들의 타고난 음악적 반응을 최상의 수준으로 끌어올려 심미적 경험을 하게 하여 삶의 궁극적 가치를 통찰하고 이해하게 함으로써 인간의 삶의 질이 향상되도록 돕는 것이다. 그러므로 음악교육은 소수 특정인이나 특정 집단만을 위한 것이 아니라 모든 사람을 위해 열려 있어야 하며, 이는 평생교육의 이념과 정신에도 부합되는 것이라고 볼 수 있다. 따라서 평생교육으로서의 음악교육의 진정한 실천을 위한 실행방안이 적극적으로 모색되어야 한다 이에 본 연구는 평생교육의 개념과 의의에 대해 살펴보고, 현대사회에서 음악이 어떤 역할을 감당하며 평생교육으로서의 음악교육이 왜 필요한지를 고찰하였다. 그리고 이러한 이론적 고찰을 바탕으로 하여 서울지역 17개 대학부설 평생교육기관의 음악교육 실태를 파악하고, 교육 프로그램을 비교·분석하였다. 현재 각 대학부설 평생교육기관의 음악교육 프로그램은 일반교양과정, 음악 전문가·지도자 과정, 컨서바토리, 학점은행제 등으로 구분되어 있다. 교과목은 설정된 교육목표와 내용에 따라 나누어져 개설되어 있으며, 학교의 상황에 따라 차별화된 교수-학습 과정 및 평가를 통해 교육이 이루어지고 있다. 또한 교육기간이나 수강료 등도 교육 프로그램의 특성에 따라 매우 다양하게 설정되어 있다. 실태 조사 결과에 따르면 학교별로 차이는 있으나, 대개 교육 프로그램이 잘 정립되어 있지 못한 상태에서 교육이 진행되고 있음을 알 수 있었다. 그렇기 때문에 교육시설이나 환경도 열악하여 운영 면에서 어려움을 겪고 있는 학교도 다수 발견하였다. 그러므로 대학부설 평생교육기관의 음악교육이 효과적으로 이루어지기 위해서는 무엇보다도 체계적이고 포괄적인 교육 프로그램이 개발되어야 할 것이다. 평생교육으로서의 음악교육은 현대의 음악교육이 추구하여야 할 하나의 폭넓은 개념으로서, 가정·학교·사회를 총망라한 광의의 개념으로 이해될 수 있다. 이는 개인의 음악적 잠재력을 평생동안 꾸준히 개발하여 삶의 질을 높이고 자아실현에 이르게 하며, 세계화·다원화·정보화로 대별되는 현대 사회에서 올바른 인격과 민주시민으로서의 자질을 갖추게 할 수 있는 혁신적인 대안이 될 수 있다. 그러므로 대학부설 평생교육기관에서는 사회 음악교육과 학교 음악교육의 수평·수직적인 연장선상에서 대학을 개방하고, 대학이 보유한 우수한 인적·물적 자원을 활용하여 조직적인 음악교육 프로그램을 개발하고 시행하려는 노력을 계속하여야 할 것이다. ; Since Plato, an ancient Greek philosopher, emphasized education for human beings, it has been thought to have been of absolute value in society. It is commonly believed that human beings must learn continuously from the cradle to the grave, so it is not necessary to emphasize this point further. Especially, in modern society, the paradigms that rapid changes of science and technology, and explosive increase and shortness of life of knowledge and information, and the transformation and specialization of vocational structures, have brought a progression of cultural desires and pluralistic values. Therefore, the importance of education that has to be realized in daily life for individual self-realization and social accommodation stands out in bold relief. For this reason, lifelong education is necessary. In modern society, the function of the school is changing in multifarious ways. Especially, a university must be a place of learning and research, and the development of scholarship, as well as for self-realization through education for the remainder of life. Therefore, a university should not be a ground of learning that is being provided for one particular time, but should be a place of education which is being offered for the whole life of a human being. Particularly, adults are wishing for opportunities to complement their lives with new facts, which they have not experienced during regular school education in the past, and to retrain themselves. Therefore, a university must offer opportunities for the lifelong education for adults, and must consider and apply programs continuously which are relevant to it. Music is a compulsory element for people who are living in modern society during their whole lives, because human beings can live better human lives by means of music. Since God created man, music has existed in every age, and music education has developed in its necessary relationship to the progress of human cultural history. The absolute purpose of music education lies in helping to raise the value of people by developing individual musical talents to the highest level, helping to experience how beautiful life is, and to recognize and understand fully the absolute value of life. Therefore music education must be opened widely because it is not for a few special individuals or groups, but for everyone. This is consistent with the ideas and spirit of lifelong education. In addition, practical methods of music education as lifelong education should be developed positively and actively. In this thesis, the author has studied the concept and profit of lifelong education through researching books, and has examined the role of music in modern society and the necessity of music education as a lifelong education. Then the author researched the reality of 17 attached institutes to universities on the basis of a comparative analysis. At the present time, the music education program of an attached institutes to a university for lifelong education is divided into liberal education, professional musician and music teacher courses, conservatory, and the credit bank system. The subjects are offered according to the particular educational purpose and contents, and the institutes utilize the teaching, learning and testing systems which vary according to the situation of the institute. The academic year and fees vary drastically with the educational focus, also. It can be recognized that this research shows that, although there are some differences among the institutes, usually their educational programs are not systematized. Accordingly, some institutes were found to suffer because of poor educational facilities, environment, and also poor basic system. Therefore, above all, systemic and efficient educational programs must be developed for effective education of an attached institute to a university for lifelong education. Music education as lifelong education is to be understood as a wide concept which includes home, school, and society, and modern music education should aim for this. This can play a progressive role that can lead people to a higher qualitative life and self-realization by developing musical potential through their whole life, and that can also help people to accomplish good character, and to be proper civilians in the global, pluralistic and information oriented modern society. Therefore, an attached institute to a university must open the doors of the university to achieve the vertical and horizontal extension between social music education and institutional music education, and also must keep on trying to develop and practice systematic music educational programs by utilizing the superior human and material resources which universities have.
