'라캉의 주체형성 이론으로 본 근대 서양 건축의 모더니티에 대한 입장과 동아시아풍 건축의 위치'에 관한 연구

Abstract

18, 19세기 서양은 계몽주의와 산업혁명으로 인해 새로운 시대를 맞이하게 되었다. 이러한 현상은 심미적 문화 환경도 변화시켰다. 모더니티 는 이렇게 시작된 근대의 시대의 정신 을 가리키는 말이다. 또한 전제왕권의 시대는 시민의 시대로 대체 되었으며, 공학적으로는 산업재료와 구조기술이 발전했다. 아울러 건축분야에서는 이 시대가 요구하는 건축물의 종류, 재료, 양식에 대한 고민이 있었다. 변화하는 환경에 맞추어 새로운 양식이 요구되는 것은 당연한 이치이다. 이러한 새 시대를 진행시키는 서양인들의 고민들을 한마디로 "이 시대에는 무엇이 과연 올바른 양식인가?"라고 표현해도 과언이 아닐 것이다. 이 시기에는 해외에 대한 관심도 있었다. 이러한 관심은 제국의 건설에 대한 포부를 원천으로 한다. 산업혁명으로 인한 재료의 공급처와 그렇게 만들어진 산업제품의 수급처가 필요했던 것이다. 자국 내에서 한계를 느낀 서양인들은 눈길을 밖으로 돌렸으며, 동아시아에 본격적으로 관심을 가지기 시작한 것도 이 때부터이다. 해외에 대한 관심은 제국의 황제와 식민 관료에서부터 식민지 쟁탈 전쟁을 벌이는 군대와 기독교 복음을 전파하는 선교사, 그리고 탐험가와 인류학자들까지 모두가 공유하는 일종의 시대의 정신이기도 했다. 동아시아는 이전부터 비단길 혹은 해상을 통해 교류가 있긴 하였으나, 본격적으로 서구인의 정복욕을 자극하여 그들의 문화를 문명화라는 사명아래 동아시아에 전파함과 동시에, 동아시아 문화도 수용하여 응용하기 시작한 것은 이 때부터 이다. 본고는 서양의 시대정신인 모더니티라는 자아이상을 추구하는 과정에 새롭게 그들의 인식에 등장한 동아시아풍의 건축이 그들의 당대 건축문화 형성에 미친 영향을 라캉의 주체형성 이론을 빌어 연구해 보고자 한다. 개인 주체는 타자의 영향을 받아 형성된다고 보는 라캉의 이론을 도입하여, 본고에서는 일정한 시대적, 공간적 상황에 반응하는 근대 서양을 주체로 설정하여 연구하고자 하였다. 상황적으로 새롭게 등장한 지적·물리적 발전에 힘입은 근대의 시대정신은 모더니티이고, 이러한 시대의 정신을 자아이상이라고 한다면, 그들의 자아 이상인 모더니티를 추구하는 과정에서 나타난 건축분야의 양식적 고민은 -이러한 욕망을 해결해 줄 수 있는 요구의 대상인 작은타자에 대한 고민은- 동아시아에 대한 호기심으로 이어졌으며, 이로 인하여 동아시아풍을 그들의 근대 건축에 접목시키게 되었다. 본고는 라캉의 Sche´ma L구도를 이러한 문화구조의 형태로 재 설정해 보았고, 이 이론은 본 논문을 진행시킬 방법론으로 받아들여지게 될 것이다. ; It became a new era in the West in 18, 19C by the Enlightenment and the Industrial Revolution. It also changed the cultural environment. Modernity represent the word of this kind of spirit. An absolute rule turned the politics of the civilization. The Industrial materials had been changed and Structural Technologies developed. The Architects agonied about the New Architectural Styles needed in this era. Maybe this needs would be quite natural. I ll represent this phenomenon the sentence of "What is the Architectural Style in this epoch?" There also were the concerns about the new world. The anxiety to build an empire made them anxious to conquer other countries. They needed the places for material supplying and for product consuming. Then they also concerned about the Eastern World, not only the near-east but also the far-east, China, Japan, Korea and so on. The concerns about abroad is the Zeitgeist of this era which people from Emperors to anthropologists had. Though there were a great number of cultural exchanges between East and West, for example exchanges through silk-road and war etc , the practical applications of others architecture began in earnest in this epoch. Also the North-East architecture. Most of us have known that the Modernism is the only western s and was born by only their own ideas and history etc. With the method of Lacan s theory of the Human Subject, I suggest that it is also influenced by Other Cultures. In Lacan s Theory, the role of Other and others are very important for Subject-I to be the SUBJECT-me. In this thesis, the western will be the SUBJECT-I , the North-East Asian Culture others and the SUBJECT-me Modernity. Through the history of architecture ruled by the spirit of Modernity from the mid 18C to the early 20C, I ll prove the influence of the North-East Asian Style on the architectural language of the Western Modernism.
