물에 투영된 자아의 이미지 표현

Abstract

물은 모든 생물뿐 아니라 인간에게 있어서 가장 근원적인 요소인 동시에, 사유의 대상이 되며 자아를 투영할 수 있게 해주는 매개체로서 물리적 성질 외에 여러 가지 정신적인 측면을 갖는다. 개인에 있어서 의식의 통일체인 자아는 신체를 떠나서는 생각 될 수 없으며, 신체는 정신과 분리되지 않는 자아와 타자, 나아가 세계를 보는 의사소통의 매체로서 재 평가받고 있다. 본 연구는 물을 통해 사유할 수 있는 정신성과 신체의 이미지를 연결하여 상호 관련시켜 표현함으로써 자아에 관하여 다시 돌아보게 하는데 의의가 있다. 본 논문의 연구 목적은 신체의 이미지와 인간이 물에 대해 갖는 심리적인 면을 연결시킴으로서 자아를 재인식하는데 있다. 연구의 내용은 이론적 배경에서 물의 상징적인 의미와 그에 대한 정신성, 신체와 자아의 정체성에 관하여 알아보았다. 또한, 이러한 내용과 관련된 작가와 작업을 알아보았다. 자연과 신체간의 관련성을 통해 자연과 인간의 관계를 조망한 작가를 찾아보고, 물의 속성과 연관된 표현과 신체와 관련하여 표현한 작가들이 어떻게 인간의 정체성을 나타내었는지에 관해 서술하였다. 표현 내용에서는 상상력을 불러일으키고 모든 생명의 원천이 되는 물에서 느낄 수 있는 이미지와 정신적인 자아의 개념을 담고 있는 신체의 이미지를 관련하여 서술하였다. 표현 방법에서는 신체, 또는 사진의 이미지를 이용하여, 물의 물리적이고도 정신적, 심리적인 면과 결합해 형상화하여 자아의 정체성을 표현하였다. 이를 표현함에 있어 자신의 신체를 직접 casting하여 사용하였고, 물은 투명한 재료와 실제의 물을 이용하여 움직이게 하고 스며들게 하고, 응고시키는 등 다양한 방법을 통하여 물의 느낌을 표현하였다. 작품 분석에서는 이러한 내용을 바탕으로 표현한 7점을 이론적 배경과 표현 내용 및 방법에 근거하여 분석하였다. Casting한 신체와 사진의 이미지들은 개인의 정신을 담고 있는 의식의 함유체로서의 신체를 의미하며 자아를 표현하기 위한 매개물로서 사용되었다. 투명 F.R.P와 Epoxy는 투명성을 유지하면서 반영의 효과를 가져 관람자에게 스스로를 관조하는 계기를 마련하게 할 수 있으며, 실제의 물을 사용하여 신체의 형상 안에서 흐르고 흡수하게 하여 자신에게 의미 있는 물이 되도록 이끌어 물과 신체의 관계 속에서 이 둘을 마주하게 함으로써 자아의 문제를 다시 한번 생각해 보게 하였다. 상상력의 원천이 되는 파란색조의 사용으로 관람자에게 물에서 오는 투명하고도 무한한 속성을 상기시키는 등의 순수하고 초월적인 감정을 이끌도록 하였다. 또한, 빛은 물이 주는 깊이감과 무한한 공간감에서 오는 심리적 효과를 극대화하기 위해 사용되었다. 본 연구는 자연에서 인간이 느끼는 심리적인 면을 통하여 자신의 존재에 대한 문제를 생각해 보기 위함이며 물의 속성과 인간 내면의 연결을 시도한 것이다. 인간에게 내재된 심리적이고 정신적인 측면을 물과 관련하여 사유함으로써 물에 대하여 인간이 느끼는 심리적, 정신적인 측면을 다시 자신에게 내면화하고, 자아의 재인식을 가능하게 하는 문제를 제기하고 있는 것이다. ; Nature makes us feel mysterious and awful for the universe, while urging us to reconsider about the meaning of life to be aware of ourselves. The water or a fundamental element of nature is an object for meditation as well as a medium whereby our egos can be projected. Our egos or unity of our consciousness cannot be conceived being departed from our bodies. Thus, our bodies are being reassessed as medium of the communication among egos unseparable from the mind, other people and view of the world. With such basic conceptions in mind, this study is aimed at expressing the ego combining the mind which can be meditated on by means of attributes of water and the body images in an effort to reflect on our egos. To reiterate, the purpose of this study is to combine body image and characteristics of water and thereby, express the identity of ego. For this purpose, symbolic meanings of water, its spiritual nature and identity of body and ego were reviewed. In addition, in order to determine the correlation between them, relevant works and their authors were examined. To be more specific, the authors who illuminated the relationship between nature and men through correlation between nature and body were identified, and thereupon, their methods of expressing the identity of ego by combining attributes and body were described. On the other hand, the researcher discussed the relationship between nature and men, and then, described how the images of the water as important component of nature could be combined with the body images containing the concepts of ego. In terms of expression methods, the researcher attempted to combine the physical, mental and psychological aspects of water with the body by using the body image containing ego s identity and photo images, in order to feature the formation of a mutually penetrating relationship. To this end, researcher s body was personally cast and varied to be imagized, while a transparent material and the water itself were used to move, permeate and condense. Seven works which expresses such an ego were selected to review their theoretical backgrounds, expressed contents and methodology. Cast body images and photo ones were used to signify the body containing individuals mind and consciousness in order to expres the ego. To this end, the transparent F.R.P and epoxy were used because they are not only transparent but also reflective enough to allow the audience to meditate on themselves. In addition, the actual water was used to flow in the image of body in such a way that the water may become meaningful and thereby, that we can reflect again on our egos in terms of the relationship between nature and men. The blue color stimulating our imagination was used to remind the audience of the infinite universe, while maximizing the psychological effect derived from a sense of depth of water and infinite space. It is believed that this study will provide for an opportunity to reflect on our egos in terms of the relationship between nature and men, and moreover, communicate with the nature by combining the attributes of nature with our inside world only to be aware of our egos again.
