디지털 오디오 포맷의 활용

Abstract

DVD는 화질과 음질이 뛰어나고 용량이 커서 차세대 디지털 영상 디스크로 각광받고 있으며, 상품화되고 있다. 특히 DVD-비디오는 돌비 디지털, DTS, 돌비 디지털 ex, THX ex 등 기존의 영화관에서나 즐길 수 있었던 멀티 채널 서라운드 사운드를 오디오 규격으로 도입해 가정에서도 풍부한 서라운드 사운드를 느낄 수 있게 하였다. 이러한 기술을 바탕으로 더 발전하여 태어난 DVD-오디오는 새로운 시대의 멀티미디어 오디오 포맷으로서, CD에 비해 음질이 뛰어날 뿐 아니라 멀티 채널 재생이 가능한 포맷이다. 본 논문은 오디오 시스템의 발달과 현재 사용되고 있는 디지털 포맷 상의 오디오의 발달을 알아보았다. 또 이러한 디지털 오디오 포맷으로 작업하는 스튜디오를 찾아가 작업과정을 알아보고, 디지털 오디오 포맷상 오디오의 특성을 통해 적용이 가능한 분야에 관해 생각해 보았다. DVD-오디오가 생겨나면서 첫째로 오디오 회사들은 같이 공존하는 여러 오디오 규격들을 서로 인코딩, 디코딩 해줄 수 있는 인코더, 디코더 개발에 주력하게 되었다. 둘째, 멀티 채널 레코딩이 필요하게 되면서 전문 믹싱 기술 인력이 필요하게 되었다. 그리고 세 번째로 앞으로 보급될 HDTV를 복제할 수 있는 DVD 레코더의 개발에 관심이 집중되면서, 멀티 채널 서라운드 사운드를 그대로 디스크에 담을 수 있는 복제 기술의 개발이 필요하다. 네 번째로는 헤드폰을 통해 5.1 채널 서라운드 사운드를 재생할 수 있는 방법이 개발되어 앞으로는 멀티 채널에 여러 대의 스피커를 쓰지 않고도 2개의 스피커 만으로 멀티 채널 서라운드 사운드를 재생할 수 있는 기술이 개발되어야 할 것이다. ; DVD is now in the spotlight as the digital video carrier disk for the next generation and is being rapidly commercialized because of outstanding audio visual quality and large storage capacity. DVD-Video in particular has allowed people to enjoy rich surround sound at home, for multi-channel surround sound such as Dolby Digital, DTS, Dolby Digital ex, and THX ex that was only used in theatres was introduced as the audio standard. The DVD-Audio, a newly devised system based on the technology mentioned above, has now become the multimedia audio format of the new era in has higher auditorial quality than CD, and can reply multiple channels. After the introduction of digital audio formats the audio business firstly started concerntrating its energy in developing encoders and decoders that can allow compatibility to many different audio systems, so that those systems can encode and decode differently recorded formats. Secondly, expert mixing technicians has become in greater need as multi-channel recording is required. Thirdly, as enthusiasms in developing DVD recorders that can record HDTV format are being increased, technological development for reproducing undamaged multi-channel surround sound on the disk has become indispensable. Fourthly, it become important that a way of realizing multi-channel surround sound through headphones is developed, and therefore let the multi-channel surround sound to be replayed through only 2speakers, without using too many speakers. With multi-channel replay function, and density and lossless digital audio formats for the next generation will be replacing CD.
