새로운 공간의 시작으로서의 틈

Abstract

예술작품은 인간의 내면적 실재에 대한 하나의 개념을 표현한다. 예술론에서 다루는 표현론의 특징은 개인의 내면적 정서나 어떤 정형화된 형태로 전달할 수 없는 감정을 표현하는데 있다. 예술 작품은 내면에 존재하는 정서나 감정의 이미지들이며, 예술가 자신의 내면에 존재하는 근원적 움직임을 표현한 것이다. 예술이 마음의 상태를 다룬다는 점에서 예술가는 자신의 심상에 귀기울여야할 필요가 있다. 심리적 자아 표현은 모든 인간에게 내재되어 있는 본질적 욕구이다. 다만 예술가는 예술이라는 매체를 통해 자아 표현을 하는 것이다. 예술가는 내면 세계에 집적되어 있는 개인적인 경험이나, 감정, 정서들을 작가에 의한 상상과 연상을 통해 작품으로 표현한다. 즉 예술가는 의식 또는 무의식적인 내면의 심리 속에 잠재되어 있는 의미의 실현을 미술 작품을 통하여 이루게 되는 것이다. 나에게 있어 작품은 내면의 심리를 형상화한 상징물이다. 나의 작품제작 동기는 나의 내면에 존재하는 심리적 갈등의 움직임에서 시작된다. 그 움직임은 나의 내면 세계의 근원적 에너지이며, 유기체적인 형상을 통해 표현되었다. 작품에 등장하는 유기체의 꿈틀거림은 새로운 공간의 시작을 알리는 틈을 찾아가는 움직임이다. 나는 모든 구속에서 해방될 수 있는 열쇠는 틈 에 있다고 믿는다. 틈은 매우 작은 공간을 연상시키지만 그 너머로 시작되는 공간의 무한한 가능성을 품고 있다. 융은 미술 작품에서 어떠한 상징을 기대했다. 나의 작품에서 틈은 바로 희망의 상징이다. 본 논문에서는 융의 심리학 이론을 배경으로 예술 작품을 창조하게 되는 원동력이 개인의 내면 심리에서 비롯될 수 있으며, 인간 내면의 잠재된 심리 상태가 예술 작품에 표출될 수 있음을 설명하였다. 그리고 자신의 내면 세계를 작품에 반영시킨 다른 작가들의 예를 들어 설명하게 된다. 또한 작품에서 유기체의 움직임이 추구하는 틈이 의미하는 바에 대해 알아보며 그 속에서 진정한 자유를 찾는 일련의 움직임이 시작됨을 설명한다. 끝으로 나의 작품을 제시하여 본문에서 다룬 내용들과 관련지어 설명함으로서 앞으로의 작업에 대한 새로운 방향을 찾고자 하였다. ; The artwork represents an idea of reality inside of human being. The character of an essay on expression by an essay on art is representing feelings that cannot be represented by inner reality or typical type of human mind. The artwork is an inner reality or images of an artist. He or she tends to listen their own mind for showing their thoughts at artworks. Self-assertion is a natural desire of every human. Typically, the artists show their self-assertion by artwork. Artists show their personal experiences, emotion, and feelings by putting those on their artworks. That means they make those intangible things - inner reality, emotion, and feelings - to be tangible. For me, artworks are symbolic representation of my inner mind. Little movements of my mind are the motivation of my artworks. Those movements in my mind are the energy for my works and some sort of organism represents them. On the artwork, the movements of an organism in that work are heading for an open space. I believe that people can be free from all the restraints by the small chink that we have. A chink is very tiny. However, it can be a start for an open space. Carl Gustav Jung expected any symbol in artwork. In my works, a chink is a symbol of hope. In this thesis, I explain that the motivation of creating artworks is caused by humans inner mind and also the artworks can represent the artists inside of it with the psychological theory of Jung. In addition, I show some examples of those artists who showed the inside of their mind. Then, I explain what an opening by organism means and there will be a start for pursuing freedom in the artwork. Finally, with showing my works and explaining the similarities of other works and mine in thesis, I want to show new ways of creating my work in the future.
