낙관성 수준에 따른 우호/적대상황에서의 대인관계도식 차이

Abstract

낙관성이 높은 사람과 낮은 사람들의 대인관계도식에는 어떠한 차이가 있을까? 이 연구는 건강하고 적응적인 인간의 특성으로 보이는 낙관성이 대인관계도식과 어떤 관계가 있는 지를 알아보기 위하여 다음과 같은 가설을 검증하였다: (가설 1) 낙관성이 높은 사람은 낙관성이 낮은 사람에 비해 우호적인 대인관계 상황에서 더 긍정적이며 우호적인 타인의 반응을 예상할 것이다, (가설 2) 낙관성이 높은 사람은 낙관성이 낮은 사람에 비해 적대적인 대인관계 상황에서 덜 부정적이며 적대적인 타인의 반응을 예상할 것이다, (가설 3) 낙관성이 높은 사람은 낙관성이 낮은 사람에 비해 자신이 예상한 타인의 반응이 보다 더 바람직한 것이라고 평가할 것이다. 이를 검증하기 위하여 18-30세 사이의 대학생 267명이 낙관성과 대인관계도식에 대한 척도에 반응했다. 낙관성을 수준에 따라 두 집단으로 나누어 우호/적대 상황에서의 대인관계도식과 타인의 예상반응에 대한 바람직성의 차이를 분석하였다. 그 결과 낙관성이 높은 사람은 우호적인 상황에서 낙관성이 낮은 사람에 비해 더 긍정적이고 더 우호적인 타인의 반응을 기대하는 것으로 나타났고 낙관성이 높은 사람이 그렇지 않은 사람보다 타인의 예상 반응이 더 바람직하다고 평가하는 것으로 나타났다. 또 낙관성 수준에 따라 적대 상황에서의 대인관계도식에 차이가 나타나지는 않았으나 우호 상황에서의 대인관계도식에 비해 현저히 낮은 점수를 보임으로서 적대상황에도 불구하고 타인의 우호적인 반응을 기대하는 것으로 나타났다. ; The aim of this study was to examine the relationship of optimism and interpersonal schemas. Korean university students (108 men and 103 women), 18-30 years old, participated in this study. They completed the Revised Life Orientation Test (M. Scheier, C. Carver & M. Bridges; 1994) and the Interpersonal Schema Questionnaire (C. Hill & J. Safran; 1994). It was predicted that, compared to low-optimistic students, high-optimistic students will (a) expect more friendly responses from significant others in friendly situation, (b) expect less hostile responses from them, and (c) rate their expected responses from them as more desirable than will students in low-optimistic group. The results of this study revealed that individuals in the high-optimistic group expected more friendly responses from significant others in friendly situation. They rated their expected responses from others as more desirable than did individuals in low-optimistic group.
