수묵과 한지의 특성을 이용한 공간의 내면적 표현

Abstract

인간이 다양하게 살아가고 존재하는 이 공간은 삶에 대한 의미가 충만해 있는 곳이다. 그 공간 안에서 모든 경험이 이루어지며 그러한 경험을 통해 사회와 문화, 환경 등이 형성된다. 그러한 환경을 토대로 각 시대와 민족마다의 개성적 공간 관이 형성되며 이 같은 공간 관은 예술적 창조행위와 매우 밀접한 연관을 지니게 된다. 현대에 이르러 예술가는 가지 주관에 따른 고유의 창조활동을 하며 자신만의 독특한 감정을 예술작품에 반영하고자 한다. 또한 그들이 의도하고 표현하고자 하는 작품은 화면과 공간 속에서 예술가의 내적감각에 의한 감성에 의지하게 된다. 특히, 동양회화에 있어서의 감성은 미적 대상을 분석하고 해체한 다기 보다 표현의 대상인 물질적인 것으로부터 예술가의 추상적이며 동시에 창조적인 정신을 통해 거시적이고 종합적인 내적 필연성을 드러내도록 하고 있다. 그러므로 예술은 단순히 대상을 재현하는 데에 그치지 않고, 예술가의 주관에 의한 지적, 정서적 경험을 가시적으로 표현을 하는데 보다 구체적이며 실체적인 감성표현에 좀 더 많은 의미를 부여한다고 볼 수 있겠다. 본 논문에서는 우리들이 존재하는 공간을 화면 안으로 끌어들여 추상적으로 공간 이미지의 형상화를 시도한 본인의 작품세계를 다루었다. 또한, 공간을 통해 나타나는 자기경험을 해석하고 자아 내면의 감수성을 동양화의 기본적인 재료가 되는 수묵과 한지를 이용하여 본인작품에 주관적인 표현으로 이끌어가고자 하였다. 영국의 시인이자 문학, 미술 비평가 허버트 리드는 그의 저서 [예술의 의미(Meaning of Art)]에서 ‘예술의 진정한 기능은 내면의 감정들을 표현하는 일, 그리고 그것의 이해를 전달 하는 일’이라고 서술하고 있다. 본고에서는 그러한 내면의 감정들이 화면이라는 또 하나의 공간을 통해 나타나는 내적이미지 표현에 있어 공간에 관한 이론적인 이해에 있어 회화적 시각에서 본 공간의 의미와 동ㆍ서양회화에 나타나는 공간에 대한 개념과 인식을 아울러 검토해 보고자 하였다. 또한, 본인 작품에서 공간의 내면적 표현에 대해 묵과 한지가 지닌 내적 이미지와 선 염(渲染)에 의한 내면 정서의 표출, 그리고 콜라쥬를 통한 공간의 변주로 나누어 본 논문의 과제로 삼고자 하였다. 이러한 연구를 통하여 본인의 작품을 분석하고 작업의 성과와 함께 반성의 계기를 마련해 봄으로써 앞으로의 작업방향과 표현 방법에 대한 것을 모색해 보고자 한다. ; The space in which people live and exist in various ways is where life s meaning lies. Inside this space is where everything is experienced. Society, culture, and environment are formed thoughout these experiences. Each period and race from a unique idea of space on the basis of their environment, and this idea of space has much to do with artistic creation. Now artists create work their own way, and they try to reflect their unique feelings into thier art, also, the work that they are trying to express depends on the sensitivness of an artist s inner touch. Especially, in Oriental Art, sensitiveness is not analyzing and breaking things up. It is rather trying to express the broad and overall inner inevitability from the material object of expression through an artist s abstract and creative mind. Therefore art does not stop at visibly expressing oneself s objective thought and the intellectual emotional experiences one goes through. It tries to put more meaning into a more concrete and realistic sensitiveness expression. This paper deals with my works which try to formulate the abstract spacial image by putting the space in which we live onto the canvas. I also tried to interpretate my experiences expressed through space and subjectively express the inner senitivity of myself. Herbery Read, an English poet and critic of literature and art, said in his book, [THE MEANING OF ART], that "the real funcion of art is to express and convey the interpretation of inner emotions". In this paper I have tried to express these inner emotions through another space, which is the canvas of oriental paper. Also, I have also examined the concept of space in both esstern and western art. Forethermore, I have divided this paper into three subjects, which are inner image of water ink and oriental paper, expression of inner emotion through water ink, and variation of space through a collage. Through this research I have had the opportunity to analyse and reflect on my work of results. By doing so, I will deside on my style of expression and direction of my works.
