지문을 응용한 의상디자인 연구 : 디지털 텍스타일 프린팅 기법을 중심으로

Abstract

The modern industrial society is an information society, which is manufactured and publicized by mass production and efficient centralization, which are results of improvement in technology and industry. The information-oriented situation is especially the main cause in the improvement of industrial society and also the cause of industrious defection. The latter period industrial society pursuits a small amount of good grade commodity rather than a large quantity production. And this is a society in which emphasizes on pluralism than standardization. Modern people living in this kind of society make a living inside various materials and cultures, pursuing individuality. And that kind of living makes people get various individual desires. So this study uses fingerprints which has shape and moulding, changes them in various ways, and uses them as a motive for clothes to fulfill the individualities of modern people. I used Digital Textile Printing on the fingerprints to change the repeating curves and rhythm 3-dimensionally on the clothing, in order to increase the moulding of modern clothing. The purpose of this study is to increase the supplement value of clothing by making and expressing aesthetic sense that has the individuality the society requires. The method and contents of this study is about the background theory of information that needs to be researched about the shape of fingerprints by using the moulding character that it has. This is researched through documents and photographs related to this subject. We also look at the significance and the characteristics of fingerprints by classifying them into groups. We find out about how the importance of fingerprints changed from the past to the present and recognize the importance of fingerprints through examples of the uses of fingerprints. Also, we look at he meaning and features of Digital Textile Printing, analyze the digital printing process, and look at modern clothing that applies this technique through photographs. I chose about 150 fingerprints and tried expanding the fingerprints or rearranged various fingerprints through scanning or photoshop so they would match with the human body as a clothing, and so that it would be a one step higher shape-art design. For the making process, I did lots of theoretic thinking about the Digital Textile Printing technique and with this, I have made a total of 8 products; 6 of which are flat, 2 of which are three dimensional. The results of the research are: First, the various shapes the fingerprints have were organically composed of rhythmical changes and repetition, so this made it possible to use it for the motive for modern clothing. Second, by using the image of fingerprints on the clothing, I was able to increase the application limits of the various curves to the view of decoration, and make a new and unique design that fulfills individual needs and expresses individuality. Third, the moulding characteristic of the fingerprints was accorded with the clothing s shape element - like lines- that made infinite possibility of expression, so the fingerprints was a new shape that can increase the supplement value of clothing. With this, I was able to create a whole new design. Fourth, the Digital Textile Printing was good for the expanding and rearranging of fingerprints, and it was also effective for expressing the shape of fingerprints. Fifth, Digital Textile Printing made difficult design expression techniques and various design creation possible. And also, big quality, small production was possible, so it satisfied the various desires of modern dress design. With these results, the idea of using fingerprints as a motive for modern clothing design and expressing the characteristics of fingerprints to the clothing variously, has given a huge possibility for the dress design study. In the future, I hope that there are many designs that uses individual motives, gropes a new way for unique designs that makes big supplement values, and fulfills the needs of the people all around the world.; 현대 산업사회는 고도의 과학기술과 산업의 발달로 대량 상품을 위한 표준화된 방식, 대규모의 생산, 효율적인 집중 등을 특징으로 하는 공업화, 대중화, 정보사회 이다. 산업사회의 특징 중 정보화 현상은 산업사회를 발전시킨 요인이면서, 동시에 탈 산업화를 일으킨 요인이기도 하다. 정보화의 진행으로 산업사회와는 다른 특징을 보이는 후기 산업사회에는 대량 상품 생산보다는 소량의 다품종 생산을 추구하며 이는 획일성 보다는 다원성을 중시하는 사회이다. 이러한 사회에 살고 있는 현대인들은 대단히 다양한 물질과 문화 속에서 개성을 추구하는 생활을 하고, 그러한 생활성들이 다양한 개인적 욕구를 갖게 한다. 이에 본 연구는 현대인들의 개개인의 다양한 개성을 충족시키고자 여러 가지 형태와 조형성을 지닌 지문(指紋)을 변형시켜 의상작품의 모티브로 사용하고자 하였다. 여러 가지 지문을 디지털 텍스타일 프린팅(Digital Textile Printing) 기법을 이용하여 융선의 반복과 율동감을 의상표면에 3차원의 공간으로 형상화 시켜 현대 의상의 조형성을 높이고자 하였으며 이러한 연구를 통하여 현대 사회가 요구하는 독특한 개성을 주제로 한 조형적인 미적감각을 개발하여 표현하고 고부가가치의 현대 의상을 창출하는데 그 목적을 두고자 하였다. 본 연구의 방법 및 내용은 지문의 조형적인 특성을 살려 여러 가지 형태를 지니고 있는 지문의 형상을 응용함에 있어 연구 되어야 할 내용을 관계문헌 조사를 통해 이론적 배경을 연구하고 사진자료의 작품을 통해 살펴 보았으며, 지문의 의의와 특성에 대해 살펴보고 종류별로 분류하여 고찰 하였다. 과거와 현대에서 지문의 역할과 그에 따른 중요성이 어떻게 변하였는지 살펴보고, 지문이 실제적으로 사용되는 사례들에 대해서 살펴 봄으로서 지문의 중요성을 인식하였다. 또한 디지털 텍스타일 프린팅의 개념과 특징에 대해 알아보고, 디지털 날염공정과정을 분석하였으며 디지털 텍스타일 프린팅 기법을 응용한 현대 복식에 대해서도 사진 자료를 통하여 살펴 보았다. 약 150개 가량의 지문을 선별하여 스캔하고포토샵(Tiff, Psd)에서 전체, 부분 또는 확대, 축소하여 재구성 된 지문을 인체에 자연스럽게 조화시켜 조형예술로서 가치를 둔 차원 높은 의상디자인을 의도 하였다. 작품제작을 위해서는 디지털 텍스타일 프린팅 기법의 이론적 고찰을 한 뒤 이를 근거로 평면으로 표현된 작품 6점, 입체감 있게 표현된 작품 2점으로 실제 작품 총 8점을 제작하였다. 본 연구의 결과를 종합하면 다음과 같다. 첫째, 다양한 형태미를 지니고 있는 지문의 조형적인 특성은 선적인 리듬의 변화, 반복성 등이 유기적으로 구성되어 있어 현대 의상의 모티브로 응용하기에 적합하였다. 둘째, 지문의 이미지를 의상 디자인의 모티브로 사용함으로써 다양한 융선을 디자인선이라는 장식적인 측면에까지 그 활용 범위를 넓혀서 복잡한 현대 사회의 개인의 욕구에 부응하여 개성을 표현 할 수 있는 새롭고 독창적인 디자인을 전개 할 수 있었다. 셋째, 지문의 조형적인 특성은 의상의 선과 형태, 재질 등의 조형요소와 조화를 이루어 무한한 표현 가능성을 나타내고 이로 인해 지문을 의상의 부가가치를 높일 수 있는 하나의 문양으로 도입하여 조형성이 강한 디자인을 창출해 낼 수 있었다. 넷째, 디지털 텍스타일 프린팅 기법은 지문을 전체,부분 또는 확대,축소하여 배열하는데 자유로우며 지문의 조형성을 표현함에 있어 효과적이었다. 다섯째, 디지털 텍스타일 프린팅은 고난도 디자인 표현기법 개발 및 다양한 디자인 창조가 가능하고 단시간 내에 다품종 소량 생산이 가능하여 현대 복식 디자인의 다양한 욕구를 만족 시켜 주기에 효과적임을 알 수 있었다. 이상의 결과로 지문을 의상디자인의 모티브로 사용하여 지문의 조형적인 특성을 의상에 다양하게 표현함으로써 복식 디자인 연구에 커다란 가능성을 제시하였다. 앞으로도 다양하고 개성 있는 모티브를 응용하여 고부가가치성을 만들 수 있는 독창적인 의상디자인을 할 수 있는 새로운 방향을 모색하고 세계인의 욕구를 충족 시킬 수 있는 다양한 패션이 창출되길 기대한다.
