한국 현대도예의 성립과 그 발전에 관한 연구

Abstract

도예는 전통적으로 회화나 조각으로 불리 우는 순수예술과 달리 그릇이라는 실용적 목적에 의하여 그 역사가 시작된다. 따라서 예술보다는 일상생활에 필요한 실용적 도구로 인식되었다. 그러나 현대에 이르러 양적 팽창보다는 삶의 질적 만족을 추구하는 시대의 변화에 따라 전통적인 그릇의 개념에서 벗어나 보다 새롭고 다양한 예술양식과 생활용품으로의 전개양상을 보이고 있다. 최근에는 경제와 생활 수준의 향상으로 인하여 생활 속에서 이어져 내려 온 공예의 가치를 점점 인정하기 시작했으며, 이에 따라 현대도예에 대한 관심도 날이 갈수록 증가하여 오늘날 도예 인구의 저변을 크게 확대시켜 놓고 있다. 특히 많은 대학에서 도예교육이 이루어졌고, 따라서 많은 수의 도예가 들이 배출되었으며 도예 작품을 위한 전문적 전시공간 및 판매장소 등이 생기고 있음을 볼 수 있다. 제 II장에서는 이러한 상황 하에서 우리에게 필요한 것은 우리나라 현대 도예의 형성과 전개과정을 알아보고 다양한 자료를 확보하여 현대도예의 이론적 근거를 마련함에 중점을 두었다. 제 III장에서는 오늘날 현대도예의 현황과 넓은 의미에서 도예는 실용적 가치와 미적 가치를 동시에 지니면서 전통적으로 생활에 필요한 기물을 만드는 기술과 그 결과물로서의 조형미술품들로 인식되어 왔다는 생각으로 전통성을 표방하는 전승·전통도예, 예술로서의 순수조형 도예, 실용주의에 입각한 생활도예부분으로 나누어 알아보았다. 제 IV장에서는 현대도예의 필요성과 현대사회에서의 도예의 발전 가능성에 대하여 연구하였으며 그 결과 나아가 도예를 알고자 하는 수많은 도예 학도 및 도예에 관심 있는 일반인들에게도 나름대로의 이론적 지식의 바탕을 제공하여 도예작업에 다양하고 풍부한 방법론에 대한 연구를 가능하게 할 것이며, 현대 도예의 개념이 방향성을 가지게 되어 미래의 도예의 발전 가능성을 가늠해 볼 수 있을 것이다. 현대 사회에서의 문화란 가치 창조적인 새로운 아이디어를 구성하는 것이다. 이러한 관점에서 도예는 미래의 예술적 가능성 뿐 아니라 이를 바탕으로 한국 현대도예의 정체성을 우리의 전통과 연결시켜 그 개념에 도달할 수 있는 노력을 해야 할 것이며, 나아가 정보와 문화를 중심으로 하는 현대 사회에서의 공예의 가치를 보다 다양한 문화산업으로 발전시킬 수 있는 가능성을 통하여 도예에 대한 미래의 비전을 제시할 수 있게 되는 것이다. 특히 지식과 정보를 기반으로 하는 문화 산업시대를 맞이하여 현대도예의 성립과 현황 파악을 통해 그 내용을 알아보고 미래 지향적인 체계를 세우기 위하여 본 연구는 우리나라 현대도예의 정체성 확보와 현대사회에 도예가 어떻게 발전할 수 있는지에 대한 즉 세계 속의 한국의 도예에 대한 그 발전 가능성에 대한 연구에 있다.; The history of ceramic art begins with the purpose of practical usage as the pottery unlike other fields of pure art such as traditional painting or sculpting. Thus it has been considered as tools practically used in our everyday life. However, current trend of ceramic art is an expansion to a new diverse style of art and living-ware beyond the concept of traditional pottery inspired by the change of era pursuing satisfaction of living by quality rather than quantity. Due to the recent economic growth and life style development, the value of inherited general ceramic art has been gradually recognized. Interests in modern ceramic art have also been steeply increased so that has expanded modern population of ceramic artists. Many colleges and universities have been providing educations of ceramic art, thus producing large number of ceramic artists. As a result of that, dedicated galleries and market places for ceramic art has also been created. The Chapter II focuses on what we need is to provide theoretical evidence of modern ceramic art by surveying the origin of modern ceramic art and gathering its diverse information. The Chapter III describes the modern ceramic art that is recognized as both a kind of tool for making living-ware and a field of art with practical worth and beauty. The current status of modern ceramic art consists of three major fields: traditional ceramic art, pure ceramic art and ceramic art for practical usage. The Chapter IV necessity of modern ceramic art and possibility of ceramic art development in contemporary life are studied. This will provide students majoring in ceramic art and the people who are simply interested in ceramic art with the basis of theoretical knowledge. In addition, it will make it possible for them to research other various methodologies for ceramic working, and estimate the direction of future development of ceramic art. The culture in our modern life is about organizing new value-creative ideas. At this point of view, ceramic art needs to become a field of art that can gives us a well-defined concept by connecting our tradition to the stability of Korean contemporary ceramic art as well as future possibility as a field of art. And it also has to offer a vision for ceramic arts future with the possibility of development in various industries of cultures.
