착색발염에 의한 긴장과 이완 표현 연구 : 사물놀이 리듬을 중심으로

Abstract

예술은 인간이 갖는 기본적인 정신활동으로서, 미적 활동 즉 미적 가치를 창조하고 실현시키는 것을 목적으로 한다. 이에 따라 예술의 하위영역인 미술과 음악 역시 서로 다른 표현방식의 기술적 특성을 지녔음에도 불구하고 미의 추구라는 미학적 관점에서 상호 밀접한 연관성을 지니고 있다. 이에 이 연구는 우리 전통음악을 계승·발전시킨 사물놀이에 나타난 음악적 리듬의 이미지를 시각적으로 조형화하고 나아가 창의적인 텍스타일 디자인에 가능성을 모색하는데 목적을 두었다. 이러한 연구의 목적을 달성하기 위하여, 우선 첫째, 미술과 음악의 상호 연관성을 파악하기 위하여 현대미술에 나타나고 있는 음악성을 고찰하고, 음악적인 이미지를 표현하는데 있어 미술 조형요소적인 색채가 갖는 의미를 살펴보았다. 그리고 청각적인 음악 속에서 색채 연상과 공간감의 작용을 살펴보았다. 둘째, 사물놀이가 갖고 있는 음악적 특성을 고찰하였다. 이를 위하여 사물놀이에 내포되어 있는 음악적 사상과 함께 긴장과 이완의 원리, 음·양의 원리의 음악적 리듬특성에 대해 살펴보았다. 셋째, 사물놀이에 나타난 음악적 리듬의 이미지를 시각화하여 작품에 반영하기 위한 기법적 측면으로써, 착색발염에 대한 문헌고찰과 실험 연구를 통해 착색발염의 특성을 연구하였다. 넷째, 위와 같은 이론적 근거를 토대로 사물놀이에 나타난 음악적 리듬의 이미지를 작품으로 제작하고 컴퓨터 맵핑 작업을 통해 창의적인 텍스타일 디자인의 가능성을 제시하였다. 이에 대한 연구결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 예술의 한 영역인 미술과 음악은 각기 다른 표현 방식을 가지고 있다. 그러나 미의 추구라는 유사한 내적 의미와 목적을 갖는다는 점에서, 현대미술에 나타난 음악성과 음악에 있어서 미술의 조형요소인 색채간에 서로 밀접한 상호 연관성이 있음을 알 수 있었다. 이와 관련하여 우리의 전통을 계승·발전시킨 사물놀이 음악의 이미지를 시각적으로 조형화 하는 것은 충분히 가능한 것임을 알 수 있었다. 둘째, 사물놀이는 음양의 이치를 통해 우주의 질서를 해석하려 했던 민족정신의 반영물인 동시에, 한의 비극성을 초월하여 조화로운 희로애락에 대한 미학을 가지고 있는 음악임을 알 수 있었다. 이러한 사물놀이에 나타난 긴장과 이완의 원리, 그리고 음·양의 원리인 리듬을 시각적으로 조형화 할 수 있었다. 셋째, 작품제작에 있어, 사물놀이 음악적 리듬의 이미지를 효과적으로 표현하기 위해 호료의 농도에 의한 드리핑 기법을 활용하였으며, 실험을 통한 착색발염은 발염제 비율에 의한 발색 효과, 증열 처리 시간에 따른 염착 및 발색 효과가 다르게 나타남을 볼 수 있었다. 그러므로 작품제작에 있어 사전에 충분한 실험과 연구가 필요함을 알 수 있었다. 넷째, 사물놀이에 나타난 음악적 이미지의 시각화는 즉흥적인 표현에 의해 가능하였고, 컴퓨터작업을 통해 텍스타일 디자인을 제시해 봄으로써 독창적인 염색디자인의 가능성을 모색 할 수 있었다. ; Art is a human basic and mental activity. The object is to create and realize aesthetic activities, that is value. In relation to this, art and music have different technical characteristics in expressional methods. Nonetheless, they have close relationship to each other in an aesthetic aspect of pursuing beauty. At this, I will explore the possibility of creative textile design by visualizing the musical rhythm image which is shown in Samulnory which is a musical area that has succeeded to Korean traditional music and developed. To attain the object first, I investigated the musical quality which is shown in modern art in order to grasp the mutual relationship between art and music. And I investigated the senses of colors as the formative elements in art in order to express musical image. Also, I studied color association and the function of spacial sense in aural music. Secondly, I studied the musical characteristics of Samulnory music. For this, I studied not only the musical ideas of Samulnory but also the music rhythm characteristics of the principle of tension & relaxation and the principle of Yin & Yang. Thirdly, I generally researched about discharge dye in the technical aspect and studied the characteristics of discharge dye through experiments so that I might reflect the intented image of Samulnory music on the works. Fourthly, after I made up the works with the rhythm of Samulnory music in the basis of such theoretical grounds, I studied the possibility of creative textile design through mapping work by a computer program of Corel Photo Print. The results of the study are as follows. Fist, though art and music assume different forms, because they have similar inner meanings and objectives, we can find that the musical quality shown in modern art and the colors as formative elements in art have a close relation to each other. In relation to this, we can see that it is fully possible to visualize the musical image of Samulnory which has succeeded to our tradition and developed it. Secondly, I could realize that Samulnory has supported the spirit of our people which have tried to understand the cosmic other through the principle of Yin & Yang. Also, I could see that Samulnory is the music which has a harmonious gamut of feelings beyond the tragical grudge. I could visualize the musical rhythm of Samulnory music which is the principle of tension & relaxation and the principle of Yin & Yang. Thirldy, in order to express effectively, I used dripping technique by the thickness of glue in making the work. And I found that the effect of discharge dyeing is different according to the chemical rate and that the effects of charge dyeing and discharge dyeing are different according to the time difference. In addition, I realized that we need to experiment and study in advance when we make works. Fourthly, I could visualize the musical of Samulnory by impromptu expression. And by investigating Korean textile design through computer work, I could explore the possibility of original dyeing design.
