한국민화를 응용한 의상디자인 연구 : 花鳥畵를 중심으로

Abstract

오늘날 우리는 통신혁명과 정보기술의 확산에 따른 정보화 시대에 살고 있다. 이는 많은 정보의 실제시간 유통 등의 이점을 내재하고 있는 반면, 개인주의와 세계화라는 맥락속에서 문화적 민족주의라는 역반응적 현상을 야기시키고 있다. 이것은 문화적 로컬리즘(Localism)뿐만 아니라 21세기 산업화 물결속에서 경안시되었던 인본주의, 자연주의 과거회귀적 경향으로 나타나게 되었다. 효율성과 합리성에 근거했던 서구예술과 문화는 인간과 자연을 중시하는 동양사상과 문화에 관심을 보이게 되었고, 시대를 반영하는 패션경향 또한 오리엔탈리즘(Orientalism)과 함께 민속성을 나타내는 에스닉(Ethnic)을 지속적으로 반영하고 있다. 이러한 추세속에 우리나라에도 전통과 고유미의 규명을 통해 세계시장(Global Market)과 문화적 획일화에 대비해야 한다는 인식이 확산되고 있다. 이에 본 연구는 우리의 생활속에서 민족의 정서가 이입된 민화의 화조화를 현대의상디자인에 응용함으로써 전통의 현대적 활용뿐 아니라, 현대 DTP(Digital Textile Print)기술에 의해 고유미의 확산을 기하고, 나아가 패션제품의 이미지 차별화를 통해 세계시장 속에서의 경쟁력 확보에 일조하는데 그 목적이 있다. 작품제작을 위한 연구의 절차는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 화조화의 이론적 고찰을 통해 개념과 상징성을 알아보고 조형적 특성을 구도, 선, 색채의 측면에서 접근, 정리·분석하였다. 둘째, 한국미를 표현한 현대의상디자인 사례를 분류·분석함으로써 문제점을 도출하여 현대사회에 보편성있고 창의적인 디자인 창출의 기본을 제시하도록 연구하였다. 이와 같은 이론적 전개과정을 토대로 작품 총 8벌을 제작하였고 본 연구의 이론적 연구를 통해 얻은 결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 화조화는 우리 전통과 미의식을 반영하는 예술로서 독창성뿐만 아니라 범세계화 시대에 세계를 향해 보편적 미적 가치를 지닌 유산으로 재평가 되어야 함을 알 수 있다. 둘째, 한국적 정서와 염원을 나타낸 화조화는 그 장식성 뿐 아니라 일상생활 속에서 흔히 접할 수 있는 길상화로서 가치를 지님을 알 수 있었다. 셋째, 화조화의 조형적 요소인 구도(역원근법, 복합다시점, 복합성, 나열성), 색(오방색의 정색과 간색), 선을 분석함으로써 민족적 정서가 함축된 독창적 고유미의 특성을 고찰할 수 있다. 화조화의 이론적 배경을 기본으로 한 작품연구의 결론은 다음과 같다. 첫째, 화조화 소재인 꽃(모란, 연꽃, 국화, 매화, 동백)과 새(꿩, 오리, 앵무새, 나비)의 화려한 회화적 이미지를 분석, 패턴 디자인에 의해 재구성함으로써 무한한 디자인 창출의 가능성을 확인할 수 있었다. 둘째, 디지털 프린팅 기법을 통해 산업적 생산을 통한 실용화뿐 아니라 대중적 확산도 기할 수 있음을 확인할 수 있었다. 셋째, 디지털 프린팅 이미지 위에 자수, 비딩, 누비, 패딩 등의 기법을 적용하여 화조화의 풍부하고 화려한 이미지를 재창출함과 동시에 고부가 가치 부여의 가능성을 제시할 수 있었다. 넷째, 화조화의 화려하고 독특한 이미지를 기본정장 형태를 통해 표현함으로써 고급스럽고 품위있는 여성미를 표출시킬 수 있었다. 본 연구에서는 한국 고유의 미적 요소와 소재의 상징성을 내포하는 한국민화의 화조화를 디자인 소재로 활용함으로써 단순한 답습의 차원이 아닌 현대성에 의해 독특한 표현양식으로 거듭날 수 있는 가능성을 제시하였다. 즉 현대의상디자인에 한국민화의 화조화를 패턴디자인을 통해 재구성 함으로써 전통적 고유미를 현대성(modernity)에 융합하여 세계화의 대안으로 제시하고자 하였다. 또한 앞으로 화조화 뿐만 아니라 그 범위를 넓혀 우리 정서와 시대상에 맞는 보편적 미의식의 가치구현이 요구되어지는 바이다.; In the 21st century, sharply-developing material civilization, information, and art and culture are realized in a circle of the world, and to establish our traditional beauty by keeping it as an aesthetic characteristic both having the value of the time and creativity not just by following it is required, which is disappearing with the title of globalization. This study is to express our unique aesthetic sense and improve national competitiveness by applying the motives and features of paintings of flower and birds in Korean folk paintings that reflect our peculiar aesthetic sense, re-analyzing them from the modern view and applying them to fashion design. The aesthetic features according to pictures of flowers and birds and their theoretical results in this study are as follows; Paintings of flowers and birds in the Korean folk paintings are divided into paintings of flowers and birds, paintings of grass and insects, paintings of peonies and paintings of lotus flowers by materials, which have been developed together with our national emotion in our life. Also, they are art of national emotion of prayer and wish on the basis of the symbolic properties of things such as flower, bird, and butterfly. The features of paintings of flowers and birds are composition, color and line. The composition of paintings of flowers and birds is divided into the reverse perspective, complex and multiple points of view, complexity, and enumeration. And, our unique Five Colors(red, blue, yellow, black and white) mainly create atmosphere of pictures. The line, as a concrete technique, is outline-oriented contrary to the existing techniques of calligraphy. The findings of the study that applied various techniques and connected them to modern fashion design on the basis of the contents of paintings of flower and birds in the Korean folk paintings are as follows; First, pictures of flowers and birds shall be re-recognized as an art reflecting our tradition and aesthetic sense and as a cultural heritage containing universal aesthetic value suitable for globalization as well as originality. Second, unlimited potential of design creation could be confirmed by analyzing the brilliant pictorial images of flowers(peony, lotus flower, chrysanthemum, maehwa flower and camellia) and birds(pheasant, duck, parrot and butterfly), the materials of paintings of flowers and birds and recomposing them into pattern designs. Third, it can contribute to popularization as well as commercialization through industrial production with Digital Printing technique. Fourth, it was confirmed that not only abundant, showy images of pictures of flowers and birds but also higher value-added business can be recreated by applying the techniques of embroidering, beading, quilting and padding on Digital Printing images. Finally, elegant and graceful womanly beauty could be expressed through showy and unique images of pictures of flowers and birds in basic form of full dress. In this study, it was understood that paintings of flowers and birds in the Korean folk paintings have potential to be reborn into our original expressions, not by simply following them but by applying them that imply the aesthetic and symbolic property of our own to a design. That is, this study attempted to suggest an alternative of our own to globalization by combining traditional Korean beauty and modernity through expressing paintings of flower and birds in the Korean folk paintings into modern fashion design with modern codes. In conclusion, it should be recognized that creative and aesthetic interpretation is required for globalization of traditional Korean beauty, and to understand correctly not that tradition and modern are separated or cut off but that modern is based on tradition.
