R. Schumann 'Five pieces in folk style op.102' 분석연구

Abstract

로베르트 슈만(Robert Schumann, 1810-1856)은 표제음악과 예술가곡을 확립한 독일 낭만음악의 대표적 작곡가로서 교향곡, 오라토리오, 합창곡, 가곡, 피아노, 독주곡 및 실내악 곡 등 다양한 장르에 걸쳐 많은 작품을 남겼는데 특히 문학적 성격 소품인 예술가곡과 피아노 작품에서 그 음악성을 인정 받고 있다. 슈만이 첼로를 위해 쓴 작품으로는 『Five Pieces in Folk Style, Op. 102』(1849)와『Cello Concerto, Op. 126』(1850)등 두 작품이 있는데 (『Fantasy Pieces, Op.73』(1849)과 『Adagio & Allegro, op.70』(1849)는 각각 클라리넷과 혼을 위해 작곡 된 곡이나, 첼로와 피아노로 대체하여 연주 할 수 있다.) 『Five Pieces in Folk Style, Op. 102』는 슈만의 소품적 특성이 잘 드러나고 있고 『Cello Concerto, Op. 126』는 그의 교향곡적 특성을 보여주는 작품이다. 본 논문은 첼로 작품에서의 슈만의 음악 세계에 대한 이해를 돕고 연주 해석에 도움이 되고자 그의 독창적인 음악성이 잘 드러나는 소품인 『Five Pieces in Folk Style, Op. 102』를 분석 연구한 것이다. 본 논문의 내용은 이 곡의 시대적 배경인 19세기 독일의 낭만 음악과 슈만 작품의 일반적 특징을 문헌을 통해 고찰한 후, 『Five Pieces in Folk Style, Op. 102』를 형식, 선율, 리듬 및 화성 구조와 첼로 주법상 나타나는 문제들을 중심으로 분석하였으며, 그 결과 다음과 같은 특징을 가지고 있음을 알 수 있다. 『Five Pieces in Folk Style, Op. 102』는 각기 다른 주제를 가진 다섯 곡으로, 다 악장 구조이며 각각 다른 형식을 가진 곡이다. 이 곡은 고전주의 형식에 바탕을 두고 있으나 다양한 감정 표현으로 인해 낭만주의적 성향이 짙으며 단순한 민요적 선율과 리듬의 반복으로 민속 음악적인 면도 잘 드러나고 있다. 이 곡에서 보이는 아름답고 시적인 선율, 악상에서 암시하는 이중성, 화성적 색채감, 반음계적 사용, 갑작스러운 전조, 감7화음과 9화음의 빈번한 사용, 당김음, 피아노 성부의 활약, pedal point의 사용등은 슈만의 가곡이나 피아노 곡에서도 볼 수 있는 전형적인 특징이라 할 수 있다. 『Five Pieces in Folk Style, Op. 102』는 이상과 같이 민속적인 요소가 가미된 슈만 특유의 소품 집으로, 다양한 기교와 음악성이 요구되는 곡이다. 그러므로 연주자가 음정의 어려움과 활 주법등 기교상의 문제를 극복하고 슈만의 내면 세계를 이해하여 연주하면 이 곡은 연주자의 기량과 음악성을 동시에 표현할 수 있는 곡이다. ; Robert Schumann (1810-1856), a quintessential German composer of Romanticism, is master of program music and art song. He wrote symphonic oratorios, folk songs, solo piano pieces and chamber music. Schumann s particular contributions are in the fields of literary character pieces such as art songs and piano music. Schumann wrote Five Pieces in Folk Style Op. 102 (1849) and Cello Concerto Op. 126 (1850) as cello compositions. Five Pieces in Folk Style Op. 102 has Schumann s typical short song characteristics and Cello Concerto Op. 126 demonstrates its symphonic traits. This thesis concentrates on the analysis of Schumann s Five Pieces in Folk Style Op. 102, focusing on the understanding of his musical world and interpretation of performing technique. The thesis includes the historical background of nineteenth century German Romantic music and general characteristics of Schumann s compositions. Then follow specific analysis of structure of form, melody, rhythm and harmony, with special attention to the problems of performing technique. Result of this analysis is as follows: Five Pieces in Folk Style Op. 102 has five pieces with multi-movement structure and various forms. This piece is in the style of Classical form, nevertheless strong Romantic traits are imbedded in various emotional expressions. It also has simple folklike melody with its rhythmic repetitions. The main characteristics of this piece are lyrical and beautiful melodies, colorful harmony, chromaticism, abrupt modulation, frequent diminished seventh and ninth, suspension, and prominent piano parts. This piece is a typical work of Schumann which combines both folklike elements and Romantic traits, and it demands various techniques with sensible musicality. Therefore, it is absolutely necessary for the performer to overcome the particular problems in the areas of difficult intervals and bowing technique, in order to perform with authenticity.
