동물 이미지의 표현연구

Abstract

오늘날 기계를 사용하여 이룩한 혁명적 이미지의 성공이 이전의 수공적으로 생산된 모든 이미지에 거대한 변혁을 가져왔음을 의심하는 사람은 이제 거의 없는 것 같다. 사진은 역사의 전개를 통해 표현의 확장과 개념의 변형을 겪고왔고, 그리하여 새로운 예술의 영역으로 확장되어왔다. 예술이란 항상 불가피하게도 우회(은유적이든, 환유적이였든)적인 상징으로 대상의 진실, 작가가 의도한 진실을 표명한다. 본연구는‘친근한것’‘선호하는것’이 갖는 설득력에서 그 근거를 찾고자한다. 우리에게 익숙한것이야말로 어떤주제를 선택하고 작업하게 하는 원동력이라고 생각하기 때문이다. 사진에서는 사람에 관한 이야기가 아주 오랜 세월 동안 나와 주변의 다른 인간들, 동식물, 천체, 자연현상과 결부되어 다루어 지고 있다. 그러한 주제가 작가와 사람들을 매료시키는 근거는 어디에 있는지에 대한 의문이 이 연구의 시발점이다. 본 연구는 이러한 이미지가 출현한 기원과 사진속에서 출현한 동물이미지를 사진사의 전개안에서 살펴보고, 본 연구자의 연구 방향성에 대한 최소한의 표현 단서들로 삼았다. 최소한의 표현 단서들이란, 그러한 사진에서 작가들이 동물에 대한 관심과 의사소통을 원하는 대상과의 사이에서, 동물이미지의 의미를 어떻게 해석하고, 일관성 있게 작업해 나갔는가하는 작가의 주관적 관점을 다양한 작업에서 살펴보고 동물들이 존재의미를 획득하고 의사소통을 환기시키거나 감정의 매개물로 예시되어지는 대상으로 전환(표출)되는것을 주목하면서 본 연구자의 관심사와 동물이미지의 사진적 표현을 합치시켜나가는 근거이다. 본 연구자의 관심은 본질에 대한 그리움과 자연과 인간, 혹은 동물과 인간이 조화롭게 공존하는 세계에 관한 것이다. 동물원이라는 좁은 공간에서 길들어지는 동물과 거대한 현대사회와 제도속에서 길들어진채 살아가는 인간의 삶이 갖는 유사성을 표현하고자 했다. 그리하여 삶의 본질을 갈망하고 나의 존재를 확인하려는 내면의 외침을 듣는다. 현대사회에서 인간과 자연(동물)이 공유할 수 있는 새로운 관계를 모색하는것, 이것이 사진을 통해 발언하는 이 작업(연구)의 지향점이다. ; Today there is no one who serious doubts that success of revolutionary image by means of machines produced a great change to all the images formely created by handicraft. This produced not only transformation and expansion of expression and concept itself but also expansion of new field. Art always and inevitably expresses truth of the subject and truth intended by the authors through circuitious symbols either by metaphor or metonymy. This writer likes to seek source of persuation from what is familiar and what is preferred It is because this writer believes what is familiar is one major motive behind our choice for a certain motif and working for it. In pictures tales about man were treated in context of I and people around me, animals and plants, planetary system and natural phenomena. The start point of this study is question on why such motifs draw attention and interest of the artists and people in general. In this treatise this writer attempted to study origin of appearance of such image and to search animal image presented in pictures from the standpoint of photographer and use them as minimum hint for deciding direction of this study. Herein the world minimum hint means the artist s subjective standpoint with respect to how such artist interpreted animal image under the context of relationship between interest to animals and viewers to whom such image is projected and how such stand was maintained and persisted in their works. This writer drew attention to conversion(expression) wherby animals find its meaning of existence and act as source of reminder for communication and become media for sentiment. Through this study interest of this writer and pictorial expression of animal image have been converged. Interest of this writer is about the world where yearning for essence, nature and man or animal and man coexist in harmony. This writer attempted to express the similarity between animals being domesticated dat a narrow space called as a zoo and life of man being domesticated at a narrow space called as a zoo and life of man being domesticated in a big modern society and system. And I hear the cry inside myself yearning for essence of life. I seek for a self discovering my free self in a zoo and for my existence communicating with others (other living beings). Seeking new relationship which can be shared by man and nature(animal) in modern society and this is where this work is beading for as expressed through pictures.
