스포츠 활동이 청각장애인의 사회-정서 발달 상태에 미치는 영향

Abstract

The purpose of the study is to define relationships between sports activities and a state of socio-emotional development of a person who have hearing difficulties. In the study, the sports activity was set as an independent variable, state of socio-emotional development as a dependent variable and the level of hearing ability, the state of hearing of the parents, used language and gender as parameters. There are three sample groups for the study, a group of 100 ordinary students, a group of 60 students attending a special high school for the deaf in Seoul area, and a group of 47 students who attend a special high school for the deaf in Seoul area and also have experiences of playing in national athletic competitions for 3 to 12 years in 1998. The test of Meadow-Kendall, a questionnaire of socio-emotional measurement test, was used in the study, and it is composed of three sub-areas, sociological adaptation, self consciousness, and emotional adaptation. T-test was used to compare the deaf students with the ordinary students, and also the deaf and athletic students with the ordinary students. To compare the dependency upon the parameters of the deaf and athletic students and the deaf students, 2-WAY-ANOVA was used. The conclusions of the study are as follows. First, the socio-emotion of the deaf students appeared to be developed less than that the ordinary students. It seems that the aphasia hindered them from forming normal social relationship, which consequently affected on their self-consciousness and emotional adaptation negatively. Secondly, when at least one of their parents have same hearing difficulties, languages and gender with the deaf, the socio-emotion developed higher. This suggests that the sports activities are related to the development of socio-emotion for those who have hearing difficulties. Finally, there are no significant differences between the deaf athletic students and the ordinary students in the social adaptation and self-consciousness which are the sub-areas of the state of socio-emotional development. It is quite comparable that generally there are significant differences in the state of socio-emotional development between the deaf students and the ordinary students. This suggests that a deaf also can develop his/her socio-emotion like the ordinary people by sports activities. In addition to this study which is the study on the deaf students who participate in the elite athletic sports activities, it is also necessary to study on the deaf students who continually participate in common physical sports activities and the deaf students who take part in systematically prepared school gymnastics. It is considered that a study is required which contributes to the development and distribution of systematic sports activity programs to develop socio-emotion of the deaf. ; 본 연구에서는 청각장애인의 스포츠 활동이 청각장애인의 사회-정서 발달에 어떠한 영향을 미치는가를 규명하는데 그 목적이 있다. 본 연구는 독립변인으로 스포츠 활동을 설정하였으며, 종속변인은 사회-정서 발달 상태이고, 매개변인으로 청력정도, 부모의 청력상태, 사용 언어, 성별을 설정하였다. 본 연구의 대상은 1998년 현재 서울지역에 위치한 청각장애 고등학교에 재학중인 청각장애 학생 중 3년부터 12년까지의 선수경력을 가지고 전국대회 출전 경력이 있는 청각장애 학생 47명과 일반 청각장애 학생 60명, 일반 학생100명을 선정하였다. 본 연구에서 사용한 설문지는 메도우-캔달(Meadow-Kendall)의 사회-정서 측정 검사지로 사회적응, 자아상, 정서적응 3개의 하위 영역으로 구성 되어있다. 자료분석을 위하여 본 연구에서는, 청각장애인과 일반인과의 비교와 청각장애 선수집단과 일반인 집단의 비교 시에는 T-검증을 실시하였고, 매개 변인에 따른 청각장애 선수 집단과 청각장애 비선수 집단 비교 시에는 이원변량분석을 실시하였다. 이와 같은 자료 수집, 분석 과정을 통하여 얻어진 결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 청각장애인은 일반인보다 사회-정서 발달 상태가 더 낮게 나타났다. 이는 언어 장애로 사회 안에서의 관계 형성의 어려움으로 인해 자아에 대한 생각과 정서적인 적응에 부정적인 영향을 미친 것으로 보인다. 둘째, 청각장애인은 청력, 부모의 청력 상태, 사용 언어, 성별이 같은 경우에는 스포츠 활동을 경험한 청각장애인이 사회-정서 발달 상태가 더 높게 나타났다. 이는 스포츠 활동이 청각장애인의 사회-정서 발달에 영향을 미친 것으로 사료 된다. 셋째, 청각장애인 선수 집단은 사회-정서 발달 상태의 하위 영역인 사회적응, 자아상 영역에서는 일반 학생과 유의한 차이가 나타나지 않았다. 이는 청각장애학생이 일반 학생보다 전체적으로 사회-정서 발달 상태가 통계적으로 유의한 차이를 보인 것과는 대조적이다. 이는 스포츠 활동을 통해 청각장애인도 일반인과 별 차이 없는 사회-정서측면을 발달시킬 수 있음을 보여준다.
