참여적 장으로서의 설치미술의 특성을 적용한 환경디자인 연구

Abstract

고도로 산업화된 현대 물질문명의 발달은 모든 기존의 구조나 가치를 재편성시켰고 이는 인간의 삶을 더욱 복잡하고 각박한 환경에 방치시키는 결과를 초래하였다. 시대의 변화에 따른 패러다임의 전환은 예술전반 영역에까지 그 영향력을 확대해 나가고 있으며, 기존의 인간의 삶과 행태에 관한 고려없이 디자인된 건축물이나 도시 환경에 대한 문제점이 대두되고 있어 새로운 해결안이 요구된다. 최근의 예술양상은 전통적 예술 양식에서 탈피하여 어떤 특징적 이념이나 경향에 구애받지 않고 자유롭고 창의적인 실험정신을 강조하는 것이라 할 수 있는데, 이러한 특성은 설치미술에 잘 나타나고 있다. 설치미술은 과거 제한된 하나의 개체적인 예술 형태에서 벗어나 미디어 아트(Media art), 컴퓨터 아트 등과 같이 고도의 첨단과학을 미술에 결합시킬 뿐만 아니라 회화, 조각, 건축, 외부환경을 서로 상호 침투시켜 이른바 토탈아트(Total art)로 확장된다. 설치미술은 오늘날 예술표현의 주체인 인간을 꼴라쥬화하고 일상생활 공간속에서 주제, 소재, 행위변화에 의한 여러 가지 형식으로 재구성하고 있다. 작품의 성격상 환경과 인간, 예술의 통합을 중요시하는 설치미술의 특성을 실제 일상 생활에 적용하여 획일적인 건축물과 도시환경을 대중적이고 능동적으로 인간의 참여를 유도할 수 있는 ‘ 참여적 장 ’으로 만들 수 있는 가능성을 제시한다. 본 연구에서는 예술의 각 영역을 통합히여 총체적 예술형태로 자리잡아 가고있는 설치미술의 개념을 이해하고 공간에 적용함으로써 예술과 일상이 통합된 ‘참여적 장’이 이루어 질 수 있도록 다음과 같은 과정으로 진행한다. 1. 현대미술의 대표적 표현방법으로서 설치미술의 개념과 미술사적 전개과정을 살펴본다. 2. 설치미술의 조형적 특성을 파악하여 새로운 환경언어를 창출하는 하나의 합리적인 디자인 접근 방법으로 제시한다. 3. 설치적 양상을 보이고 있는 현대건축의 조형적인 특성을 파악하여 새로운 환경을 디자인하는 하나의 접근 방법으로 이해한다. 4. 양재 시민의 숲의 현황과 문제점을 분석하여 해결방안을 찾고자 한다. 5. 앞서 논의되었던 이론을 환경디자인에 적용시킨다. 다양한 재료와 장르가 자유롭게 결합한 형태의 공간을 디자인하여 대중의 적극적인 참여와 체험을 지원하는 공공예술로의 환경을 제시하는데 의의를 둔다. ; As the modern society becomes more and more industrialized with its material civilization developed more, almost every existing structure and value has been reset, making our human beings life more complicated and exposing it to the unfavorable environment. Such a shifting paradigm inevitable over time is being felt even across the art at large. Namely, since buildings or urban environment designed without a due regard to human life style and its scale pose various problems, we need to find the solutions to them. Recently, the art appear to be departing from its traditional form to be free from a certain ideology or tendency, and thereby, pursue a variety of liberal and creative experimental spirits, which may be most peculiar in installation art. The installation art tends to abandon the traditional art objects and instead, attempts to combine art with such hi-tech science techniques as media or computer art, and at the same time, it tends to be expanded into a total art mixing painting, sculpture, architecture and exterior environment. After all, the installation artists attempt to collage the subjects of art or human beings, while recomposing topics, materials and behaviors in diverse ways. Thus, it may well be necessary to apply to our actual life the installation art integrating environment, man and art, and thereby, create a field of participation which can encourage people to participate in buildings or their urban environment. With such basic conceptions in mind, this study aims to review the concepts of the installation art which are being rooted as a genre of total art integrating various art genres, and thereupon, apply them to our space to create a field of participation combining art and life. To this end, the following procedures of study are set up; 1. Concepts of the installation art or a new method of modern art expressions will be examined in view of art history. 2. The formative characteristics of installation art will be reviewed to suggest some reasonable design approach to the creation of new environmental languages. 3. The formative characteristics of our modern architecture accommodating the installation art will be discussed to find a new approach to environmental designs. 4. The conditions and problems of citizens wood will be addressed to find their solutions. 5. The theories thus found will be applied to environmental designs. Specifically, the spatial forms with diverse materials and art genres freely mixed will be designed to present a public art environment which can encourage people to participate and experience.
