퀼팅기법을 응용한 니트의상 디자인 연구 : 데칼코마니의 이미지 표현을 중심으로

Abstract

우리 나라 경제 개발과 성장을 주도해 온 니트 산업이, 선진국의 수입 규제강화, 후진국의 추격 및 국내 인건비의 상승 등으로 국내외의 환경이 급변하여 점차 어려워지고 있는 실정이다. 이러한 대내외 환경에 적극적으로 대응하고 계속적인 니트 산업의 성장을 도모하기 위해서는 고품질화 및 상품의 차별화로써 부가가치를 향상시켜야 한다. 부가가치를 높이는 방법에는 여러 가지 방법이 있을 수 있지만, 니트 디자인 관련분야를 육성, 개발하는 것이 중요한 방법 중의 하나이다. 즉, 독창적인 패션성 있는 니트 소재를 개발함으로써 상품의 부가가치를 직접적으로 높이게 된다. 이러한 시각에서 볼 때 니트의 새로운 소재 개발 및 창의적인 복식 디자인은 이 시대의사회 문화적 요구에도 부합될 뿐 아니라, 다변하는 국제 사회 속에서 경쟁력을 갖출 수 있는 하나의 좋은 방안이다. 이에 본 연구의 목적은 활동적이면서 편안한 니트에 퀼팅 기법을 접목시킴으로써 니트의 새로운 표현 방법과 가능성을 제시하고 니트 의상에 고부가가치를 창출할 수 있는 디자인을 개발하고 나아가 니트패션 산업의 성장을 도모하는데 있다. 본 연구의 내용은 니트의 전통적 개념, 역사에 대해 알아보고, 니트의 전통 기법과 혼합 기법을 분류 제시하였다. 그리고 니트의 표현 기법을 중심으로 현재까지 발표된 자료 및 작품을 대상 범위로 삼았다. 연구 방법은 상기 자료를 수집, 이론적 고찰을 토대로 조사·분석하고, 문헌 및 사진 자료를 표집, 분석하여 니트의 새로운 표현 기법에 대해 연구하였다. 또한 본인의 작품 제작에 있어서는 수편기 및 수잡업을 통한 니팅기법과 퀼팅기법을 의상에 도입하여 니트와 퀼팅의 접목을 시도한 총 8벌의 작품을 제작하였다. 소재는 모(毛)를 중심으로 모헤어얀(mohair yarn) 모(毛)몰얀(moll yarn), 모(毛)루프얀(loop yarn), 모(毛)슬럽얀(slub yarn) 등을 사용하였으며, 기계는 3 게이지의 수편기를 사용하였다. 기법으로는 니팅(knitting), 퀼팅(quilting), 코바늘 뜨기(crochet), 고무줄 박기(shirring) 등을 이용하였다. 이러한 연구를 통해서 얻은 결론은 다음과 같다. 첫째, 니트는 의상 형태의 자유로운 표현이 가능하며, 독특한 표면 효과를 가진 실과 조직기법을 사용함으로써 다양한 표면구조를 갖는 풍부한 재질가을 표출시킬 수 있었다. 둘째, 니트소재에 사용되는 모는 본질적으로 보온성이 뛰어난 특성을 가지고 있으며, 퀼팅 기법을 함께 사용함으로써 보온성을 한층 증대시키는 효과를 얻을 수 있었다. 셋째, 니트의 특성 중 하나인 니트의 가장자리가 휘말리는 현상을 역이용하여 소매끝과 목둘레 부분이 자연스럽게 말리도록 하여 의상의 가장자리 선을 기능적으로 정돈해주는 동시에 미적 감각을 표현할 수 있었다. 넷째, 니팅 기법과 퀼팅 기법을 결합한 수공예적(手工藝的) 혼합기법은 고급 의상 디자인 표현에 적합하며, 다양한 표현구조로 인해 고부가가치를 제공할 수 있고, 예술적 측면에서 독창적 표현의 가능성을 확대할 수 있었다. 본 연구는 니팅에 퀼팅을 접목시켜 소재의 재발견과 수공예술의 의상화를 시도하였으며, 니트의 전통기법과 혼합기법을 재조명하여 의상 디자인에 활용하였다. 이러한 작업이 니트의 예술성을 높이는 수공예술로 계속 시도되어야 할 것이며, 조형성과 심미성을 겸비한 소재로써 니트 소재의 고부가가치가 창출되기를 바란다. ; Korean knit industry which has led this country s economical development and growth is now confronting difficulty from the rapid changes in domestic and overseas environments due to the intensification of import regulations of the advanced nations, following-up of the underdeveloped countries, and rise of domestic labor cost. Under this circumstance, to cope with positively and promote the continuous growth of knit industry, we should heighten the value added through high quality, differentiated goods. There can be various methods of heightening the value added, but cultivation and development of the relevant fields of knit design seem to be one of the important ways. That is, producing unique, fashionable related materials with knit to heighten the value added in direct. From this point of view, development of new knit materials or creation of original costume can not only meet the social and cultural demands of this age but also be an excellent alternative with competitive power in the changing international society. The purpose of this study is to present new expressional methods and possibilities of knit this study to present new expressional methods and possibilities of knit and to create high value added of it by grafting quilting techniques onto knit easy to act and pleasant to wear. The range of this study is from the classical definitions of knit and its history to the traditional techniques and mixing techniques on knit. As for the methodological background, collection of the data mentioned above, theoretical investigation, research and analysis, reference to relevant literature on the new expressional techniques of knit and photo data has been paralleled. In making actual works, the author of this study applied knit handmaking and quilting to fashion to experiment grafting between knit and quilting and focused upon making wearable costume. As for the material, such wool materials as mohair, moreen, and rope yarn were used, and as to the machine a three-gage hand knitting machine was used. As for the technique, knitting, quilting, crochet, shirring and etc. were employed. And the results of this study are as follows; First, handcraft techniques upon which knitting and quilting techniques were grafted are proper to make high-class fashion designs. Second, wool being used in knit essentially keeps warm very well, and such quality is increased when using quilting techniques together. Third, reverse use of easily rolling up of knit, one of its characteristics, for the sleeve and neckline to naturally roll up can create pleasant and unique feel. Fourth, unlike ready-make clothes made of each given sizes of general fabric, knit can freely change its size according to the maker that we can also control the size and volume as we want. Fifth, a significance lies in the fact that we can create high value added by adding various decorations on knit through quilting techniques.
