꽃의 조형성을 응용한 복식디자인 연구 : 입체 자수 기법을 중심으로

Abstract

항상 새롭고 아름다운 것을 추구하려는 인간의 미적 욕구는 현대 복식문화에 있어서 개성과 다양성으로 표현된다. 복식역사에 있어서 자수의 역할은 인간이 몸을 가리는데 쓰인 동물의 가죽이나 모피 등 천연의 자원을 그대로 연결하는 단순한 동기에서 시작되어 신분계급의 표시, 장식의 수단으로 사용하게 되었다. 기성복 생산 시대에서 자수는 고가의 비실용적 장식요소라는 이유로 특수복(무대복, 행사복)이나 오뜨 꾸띄르의 전유물로만 한정되기도 했었다. 그러나, 오늘날 디자인에 있어서 고부가가치의 추구라는 새로운 관심 속에 그 활용 범위가 확대되어 지고 있으며 새로운 재료의 선택과 기법으로 적극적이고 다양한 표현 범위를 넓혀 가고 있다. 획일화되고 기계화된 기성복 디자인의 한계를 벗어나 디자인적 미적 표현효과가 다양한 자수의 응용은 복식디자인의 내용을 풍부하게 해주고 그 수준을 격상시키는 역할을 한다. 본 연구는 평면 자수의 2차원적인 표현형식을 벗어나 부조와 입체로 전환된 현대 자수를 응용해 수공예적 고부가가치를 갖는 디자인 창출의 가능성을 새롭게 조명하고자 한다. 본 연구의 이론적 배경으로는, 첫째, 광범위한 자수의 영역 내에서 입체 자수의 개념을 설정하고 복식사에 있어서 입체 자수의 발달 과정을 살펴보았다. 둘째, 입체 자수의 다양한 표현 기법과 재료, 그에 관한 자수 사례들을 살펴보고 복식에 나타난 입체 자수의 응용사례에 대해 알아보았다. 셋째, 표현 모티브인 꽃의 조형미를 응용한 입체 자수 기법의 설명과 그 기법들이 도입된 복식디자인 사례를 살펴보았다. 본 연구의 작품제작은 입체 자수의 표현 기법 가운데, 꽃의 이미지를 섬세하고 입체감 있게 표현할 수 있는 기법을 도입하였으며 오뜨 꾸띄르적인 고급 복식을 구성하는 데에 초점을 두었다. 작품 제작 기법에 있어서는, 섬세한 자수표현과 부조적인 표면효과를 부여할 수 있는 기본자수와 입체적인 리본플라워 기법, 그리고 아트플라워 기법 등을 사용하였다. 작품은 20-30대 초반에 이르는 여성을 대상으로 장식적이고 조형적인 의상 4벌, 구두 4족, 숄2점을 실물 제작하였다. 이러한 연구과정을 통해 얻어진 결론은 다음과 같다. 첫째, 복식디자인에 도입된 입체 자수 기법은 평면적인 자수의 개념을 벗어나 다양한 기법과 재료를 사용함으로써 현대복식의 예술적 표현을 높일 뿐만 아니라 고부가가치 창출을 가능케 함을 확인하였다. 둘째, 다양한 기법과 재료들이 조화되어, 복식의 부분에 한정되어 장식된 악세사리의 역할 뿐 아니라 복식 전체에 표현되어 풍부한 재질적 효과를 거둘 수 있었다. 셋째, 입체 자수 기법은 같은 주제와 모티브로 문양을 표현할 경우라도, 기법과 재료에 따라 상이한 재질감과 입체감이 표출됨으로써 복식디자인에 있어서 무한한 미적 표현 가능성을 갖게 함을 확인할 수 있었다. 넷째, 복식 표면의 꽃 입체 자수에서 복식외부의 공간으로 연장된 입체적인 리본 플라워 어레인지먼트(arrangement)의 장식을 통해 새로운 시각적 조형공간과 동적인 조형미가 표출될 수 있었다. 다섯째, 리본 자수 기법의 경제성과 미적 표현 범위에 대한 효용 가치를 확인할 수 있었다. 이상과 같이, 입체 자수와 복식의 조화를 통한 디자인 연구는 화려함과 수공예적인 섬세함을 추구하는 현대고급 의상(Haute Couture) 제작에 부가가치를 부여할 수 있는 중요한 디자인적 요소를 제공할 수 있다고 본다. ; Human always strive for novelty and beauty and this need of beauty is represented by individuality and variety at modern costume culture. In costume history, embroidery played a role not only as a simple motive that made to attach natural source such as animal skin and fur also as a symbol of social position rank and used as a ornament. Embroidery became a expensive unpractical ornament in ready-made clothes days and only limited to special cloth like stage costume, formal dresses, and Haute Couture. Today s design, however, paid attention to high added value and resulted active, various expressions with new materials and method as well as large use of embroidery. This study intended to lighten the possibility of production of high value-added handcrafted design that applied modern embroidery; that is, using a transformed semi-solid and raised form of modern embroidery beyond two-dimensional expression of plane embroidery. This study is based on theoretical foundation as follows; First, define raised embroidery concept in broad embroidery field and reviewed the development of raised embroidery in costume history. Second, find out a diverse manifestation method, materials and exemplar of each case and also applied case among raised embroidery costume. Third, reviewed cases of costume that applied shape of flower-expression motive- and used flower raised embroidery techniques. Production was made with a raised embroidery expression technique that helps to express the flower image very finely and as a cubic. Above all, the point was to express the flower as a high-grade costume with Haute Couture. To product the work, delicate embroidery manifestation and Ribbon embroidery, Ribbon flower, and Art flower that can show semi-solid textural effect was used. The work was actually producted; it is ornamantal 4 cloths and 4 shoes for 20~30s womans. The conclusions find out through this study is as follows: First, raised embroidery technique that was imported in costume design use various methods and materials which is beyond plane embroidery not only heightens the artical expression of modern costume also makes it possible to product a high-valued work. second, various methods and materials made harmony and help to obtain rich textural effect. Third, even if a pattern was expressed with the theme and motive like raised embroidery technique, diverse textuality and solid beauty was possible through various methods and materials. This suggests that embroidery could make infinitive expression of beauty. Forth, prolonged solid flower ornament to outside of costume in flower raised embroidery technique of costume texture made a expression of novel visual organization space and dynamic beauty of organization. Fifth, ribbon embroidery technique was relatively easy and it saved time than plane embroidery. This suggests the efficacy value of economy and range of expression beauty of ribbon embroidery method. In sum, study of design through harmony with raised embroider and costume suggests a important design factor that endow with added value for production of modern high ranking dresses(Haute Couture) which pursuit gorgeousness and delicacy.
