아동의 이야기 꾸미기를 통한 정신적 표상에 관한 연구 : 부모에 대한 정신적 표상과의 관계를 중심으로

Abstract

The objective of this study is to investigate association among children s representations of parenting style, narrative themes, and emotional responses in child s play narratives. Using the MacArthur Story-Stem Battery and coding system, children s representations of parenting behavior, narrative themes, and emotional responses were coded from the play of fifty-five children at ages 3, 4, 5, and 6 years. The data was statistically processed through factor analysis and pearson Product-moment correlation. The result of this study were as follows: 1. Factor analysis of the content themes suggested 3 factor structures. The first factor(aggressive themes) included atypical negative response, aggression, personal injury, exclusion. The second factor(prosocial themes) included affection, affiliation, and reparation/guilt. The third factor(oppositional themes) included non-compliance and punishment. 2. Positive, negative, and disciplinary representations of parents were significantly correlated to prosocial themes, aggressive themes, and oppositional themes, respectively. 3. The negative and disciplinary representation scores were not related with emotional responses, but positive representation and anxiety revealed negative correlation. Children who had more positive representation reported less anxiety. 4. The results of this study show that aggressive and oppositional themes in play narratives were related with distress positively, and prosocial themes was related with concern and anxiety negatively. These findings suggested that the MacArthur Story-Stem Battery may be useful technique for obtaining self-reported information from the child. ; 본 연구는 학령전 정상 아동들에게 구조화된 인형역할놀이 상황절차를 이용하여 내적 표상을 알아보았다. 그 결과로 학령전 아동의 부모양육태도에 대한 정신적 표상과 이야기 속에서 드러난 내용 주제와의 연관성, 부모에 대한 정신적 표상과 아동 정서와의 연관성, 그리고 이야기 주제와 아동 정서와의 연관성을 알아보았다. 본 연구의 대상은 3-6세의 정상아동 55명으로 남아 32명, 여아 23명으로 구성되었다. 이야기 꾸미기(narrative)를 통한 아동의 내적 표상을 알아보기 위해 인형역할놀이 상황절차(MacArthur Story-Stem Battery:MSSB, Bretherton, Oppenheim, Buchsbaum, Emde, & the MacArthur Narrative Group, 1990)를 사용하였다. 아동의 이야기 꾸미기에서 나타난 내용 항목들을 요인분석하여 공격적 주제, 친사회적 주제, 반항적 주제로 세가지 내용 주제요인을 추출하여 부모에 대한 내적 표상, 아동 정서와의 관련성을 보고자 상관분석을 실시하였다. 본 연구의 결과는 다음과 같다. 1. 인형역할놀이 상황절차로 유도된 정서적 갈등 상황에서 보이는 아동의 이야기 내용 가운데 전체 반응의 5% 이상 나타난 내용 주제 10개를 요인분석한 결과, 공격적 주제에는 비정상적 부정적 반응, 공격성, 개인적 상해, 배제가 포함되었고, 친사회적 주제에는 애정, 제휴, 죄의식/보상이, 그리고 반항적 주제에는 불복종과 처벌이 포함되었다. 2. 부모의 양육행동에 대한 아동의 긍정적 표상은 친사회적 주제와, 부정적 표상은 공격적 주제와, 그리고 훈육적 표상은 반항적 주제와 유의미한 관련성을 보였다. 3. 아동의 부모에 대한 부정적, 훈육적 표상은 아동의 정서적 측면과 관련성을 보이지 않았으나, 긍정적 표상은 불안과 의미있는 부적 상관을 보여 부모에 대한 긍정적 표상을 가진 아동일수록 불안의 표현이 적음을 알 수 있었다. 4. 아동의 이야기 꾸미기 주제요인들과 언어적, 비언어적으로 표현된 정서간의 관계를 알아보기 위해 상관계수를 산출한 결과, 아동의 이야기에 나타난 공격적 주제와 반항적 주제는 고통스런 감정과 유의미한 상관을 보이고, 친사회적 주제는 근심, 불안과 유의미한 부적 상관관계를 나타내었다. 이상의 결과를 통해, 이야기 꾸미기 접근(Narrative Approach)은 아동의 정신적 표상을 이해하는데 효율적인 접근을 제공하며, 아동의 정신적 표상을 통해 정서와 부모에 대한 아동의 지각에 대한 유용한 정보를 제공해준다는 것을 알 수 있었다.
