기하학적 線에 의한 공간 표현

Abstract

현대사회를 살아가면서 우리가 접하는 수많은 사물들은 인류의 발전을 통해 만들어진 기하학적 단위 요소들을 갖고 있다. 도시 안의 빌딩들과 도로들은 끊임없는 직선들로 이루어져있고 무의식중에 눈에 들어오는 기하학적인 선들은 획일, 반복화 되어있다. 이러한 현대사회 속의 도식적 이미지를 단순한 선과 면을 사용하여 객관적이고, 명료하며 부연설명이 덧붙여지지 않은 작품으로 표현하는 것이다. 선을 사용하는데 있어서는 그 배경으로 조선시대에 보여지는 조각보나 책거리, 누비 등을 들 수 있는데 이들은 꾸밈없는 동양의 순수한 선을 갖고 있다. 반면 미니멀리즘의 작품들은 실용주의적이고 기계적인 느낌을 담고 있는 기하학적인 선을 담고 있다. 본인은 이러한 선이 갖고 있는 요소들을 표현하기 위해 배접된 종이를 뜯어내는 작업을 하였고, 그 과정에 미묘한 강약이 나타나 보다 현대적이면서도 인간적인 선을 나타낼 수 있었다. 그 만들어진 선은 그 길이와 간격에 따라 힘과 느낌을 다양하게 표현할 수 있을 뿐만 아니라 본인이 이러한 작업을 통해 보여주고자 하는 단순 명료한 점을 적절하게 표현해준다. 이러한 선을 이용해 기하학적 공간을 조형적으로 배치하여 건물을 해체하고 화면 밖으로 연장되어나가는 효과를 나타내고자 하였으며 반복된 구조를 통해 본인의 감성을 표현하고자 하였다. 작품 표현에 있어서는 본인의 감성이 장지와 만났을 때, 화면에 반영되는 방식이 구체적 형상의 변형과 해체를 통하여 나타나도록 하였다. 배접된 장지를 사용함으로써 그 특성을 이용, 두꺼운 종이의 한 겹을 뜯어냈을 때 나타난 선으로 기하학적인 공간을 구성하고, 건물의 확대·축소를 통해 직사각형과 정사각형의 화면에 배치하였다. 또한 칼로 선을 그어 만들어진 종이의 공간을 뜯어냈을 때 생기는 선들이 작품에 빛이 비춰졌을 때 생기는 그림자가 또 다른 선의 표현이라는 점을 설명하였고 작업 곳곳에 본인의 내면을 표현하기 위한 색면을 이용하였다. 이러한 조형 작업을 통해 현대사회에서 보여지는 시각적 형상과 본인의 내적 이미지가 추상적 상징 형식을 통하여 형상화 되는 과정을 진술하고자 하였다. 또한 기하학적 선에 본인의 감성을 담아내고자 건물의 지속적인 관찰을 통해 작업을 발전시켜 나가고자 하며 일상을 살아가면서 시야에서 벗어날 수 없는 것들에게 보다 적극적으로 다가가 표현적인 부분에서 보다 창조적인 작업으로 나아갈 수 있는 계기를 마련하고자 한다.;Numerous objects that we are in the modern society have geometric unit factors formed through the development of the mankind. Building and streets in a city are composed of endless straight lines and geometric lines are uniformed and repeated. This schematic images in the modern society are created into an objective, definite, and precise work by using a simple line and surface. In using a line, it is shown in a patchwork wrapping-cloth, a painting of writing material, or a quilted work, made of simple lines of the Orient, in Choseon Dynasty. While works of Minimalism are used with geometric lines expressing practically and mechanically. In order to express features of these lines, I removed the patched paper and during this process I was able to show modern and humanistic lines with a subtle strength and weakness. The lines are not able to represent only the strength and feeling depending on the length and the width in various ways but also properly show the simplicity and plainness which I am pursuing through this work. Using these lines, I have intended to arrange a geometric space in formative way and dismantle a building to extend to out of the picture and tried to express my emotion through the repeated structure. As for an expression of the work, when my sensibility meets a paper sliding door I have intended to indicate that in the picture through the change and disorganization of a tangible shape. Using the patched paper sliding door, lines shown when a lay of thick paper was removed formed a geometric space and the expansion of reduction of the building were arranged in a rectangular picture and a square picture. In addition, lines shown when a room in the paper with lines drawn with a knife was removed cast a shadow when a work was given a light. This shadow is the representation of another line. Painted surfaces have been also used to show my inner part. I have tried to state the process that the visual shape shown in the modern society and my inner image become to be formed through an abstract symbolic format. Besides, I seek to develop a work through continuous observations of a building and proceed to a more creative work in the expressive aspect by approaching to the surround of me in order to include my sensibility in geometric lines.
