현악기의 이미지를 응용한 자수표현연구

Abstract

String instruments can be used as a material for expressing arts with its' unique shapes and musics as well as expressing sounds into music. The beauty of balance and harmony upon the exterior shape of the string instrument is outstanding, leading to desire in creating shapes. Lots of artists have expressed the image of string instruments by newly creating through their points of view by adapting its' image. The purpose of this study is to look over the shapes and melodies of the string instruments and visualizing the shapes and melodic vibrations by using mould 'line', leading to studying varieties of embroidery. Theoretical background is first, development process and the types of string instruments were surveyed, and its' structural distinctions were analyzed by using the violin. In case of melodies, by looking over the vibration of the strings, visualization of the melodies by using 'Bridge' which plays an important role in forming music were surveyed. Second, by analyzing concept and characteristics of lines which consists shapes of strings, relationship between string and line was studied. Third, image of string instruments expressed in modern arts were studied. Fourth, nature of lines from analysis upon fabric arts piece which are expressed from lines. By using the nature of lines, the shape of strings were used in my work. Production of work was formed by adapting gathering and diffusion, repeating and reiteration of 'line', which is a mould factors. Expressing materials were barbed wires and glass fabrics wires which are outstanding in expressing reiteration and repeating. And by using silk thread, silver thread and woodrocks, melodies were expressed effectively. Plain embroidery method was used, and a unique method by expressing cubical effects by penetrating the bridge was used. Also, to strengthen the endurance of the bridge, coiling of silk thread upon the woodrock was used. By using this bridge, a cubical expression from diverse lairs of thread penetration was expressed. From producing and analyzing embroidery works that expresses images of strings by using lines which are factors of shapes, following conclusions were obtained. First, by looking over the process of string instrument development, an understanding of modern string instrument shapes was achieved. Also, by performing study and analysis upon structures and features of lines, an understanding upon shapes of violins and vibration of melodies were achieved. By this, an effective visualization of string instrument music was possible. Second, nets used upon the ground have visualized linear images effectively. Also, the net posseses enough elasticity to hold the bridge, providing effective attachment. Third, diverse lairs of thread penetration upon the bridge using woodrock was formed. From this, solid and stuffing feelings were expressed from reiteration of lines. Also, by giving changes upon hights with woodrock, a rhythmical feeling upon melodies were formed. Fourth, the frame of the work have provided more effective expression upon musical rhythms by giving changes to angles and hights. Based upon this study, in expressing shapes of string instruments, an experiment upon new shaping by forming images upon strings were possible.;현악기는 연주를 통해 소리로 표현하는 매체인 동시에 형태와 음색의 이미지를 창의적이고 독창적인 조형예술로 표현할 수 있는 조형의 소재로 사용된다. 현악기의 외형적인 형태는 균형미와 조화미가 뛰어나 조형적인 창작 욕구를 불러온다. 이에 많은 예술가들은 현악기의 형태를 응용하여 자신의 주관적인 시각에 따라 새롭게 재구성하여 현악기의 이미지를 표현해 왔다. 본 연구는 현악기의 형태와 음에 대해 고찰하고 조형 요소인 '선'을 통해 현악기의 형태 표현과 음의 진동을 시각화함으로써 자수 표현방법의 다양성을 연구하는데 목적을 두었다. 이론적 배경은 첫째, 현악기의 발전과정과 종류를 알아보았고, 바이올린의 구조를 통하여 현악기 형태의 조형적 특징을 분석하였다. 현의 진동에 대해 알아봄으로써 음색은 음의 진동에 중요한 역할을 하는 브릿지(bridge)를 통한 시각화를 연구하였다. 둘째, 현의 형태를 구성하는 조형 요소인 선의 개념과 성질에 대해 분석하여 현과 선의 관계를 연구하였다. 셋째, 현악기를 응용한 현대미술작품에서 표현된 현악기의 이미지를 분석하였다. 넷째, 조형의 요소인 선(線)으로 표현된 섬유예술작품을 분석하여 선의 성질을 연구하였다. 이를 통해 선의 성질을 이용하여 현의 형태로 작품에 표현하였다. 작품제작은 조형요소인 '선'의 집합과 확산, 반복과 중첩 그리고 길이의 변화를 통해 현의 형태로 응용하여 표현하였다. 표현재료는 선의 중첩과 반복에 효과적인 철망, 유리섬유 망 등을 바탕으로 사용되었다. 그리고 견사, 은사, 우드락 등을 사용하여 음색을 효과적으로 표현하였다. 자수기법으로는 평수를 응용하였으며, 브릿지를 관통하여 입체적인 효과를 표현한 독창적인 기법이 사용되었다. 그 외에 브릿지의 내구성을 높여주기 위해 우드락에 견사로 코일링(coiling)하여 사용하였다. 이러한 브릿지를 이용해 여러 층으로 실을 관통하여 입체적인 표현을 할 수 있었다. 조형의 요소인 선을 이용하여 현의 이미지를 표현한 자수 작품을 제작하고 분석하여 다음과 같은 결론을 얻을 수 있었다. 첫째, 현악기의 발전과정을 통하여 오늘의 현악기 형태를 이해할 수 있었다. 또한 바이올린의 구조와 선의 특성에 대해 조사, 분석하여 바이올린 형태와 음의 진동을 이해하였다. 이로써 현악기 음색을 효과적으로 시각화 할 수 있었다. 둘째, 바탕에 사용된 망은 밑면에 직선의 이미지를 윗면에 효과적으로 투영할 수 있게 해주었다. 또한 망은 브릿지를 지탱할 수 있는 탄성을 지니고 있어 브릿지를 부착하기에 효과적이었다. 셋째, 우드락을 사용한 브릿지에 여러 층으로 실을 관통하였다. 이로써 직선의 중첩을 통해 입체감과 밀도감을 표현할 수 있었다. 또한 우드락으로 높이의 변화를 주어 음의 리듬감을 표현할 수 있었다. 넷째, 작품의 프레임은 각도와 높이의 변화를 주어 음악적 리듬감을 더욱 효과적으로 표현할 수 있도록 해 주었다. 본 연구를 바탕으로 현악기의 형태를 표현함에 있어서, 현의 이미지를 작품으로 표현함으로써 새로운 입체적 표현에 대한 조형적 실험을 할 수 있었다.
