페르낭 레제(Fernand Leger)의 디자인 원리를 응용한 기하도형 텍스타일 패턴연구

Abstract

예술과 기술은 우리의 생활과 밀접한 연관관계로 발전해 왔는데 21세기는 극한기술, 마이크로 전자공학과 생명공학 등의 첨단 과학기술의 발달로 그동안 인류가 경험하지 못했던 변화를 경험하면서 현대인의 문화와 생활양식을 근본적으로 변화시키고 있다. 이러한 과학기술의 혁명은 컴퓨터의 개발과 발달로 더욱 빠르게 전개되고 있다. 컴퓨터는 조형 예술분야에도 많은 영향을 주었는데 특히 패션과 텍스타일 디자인 분야에서는 창조적인 아이디어를 실천하는 도구의 역할을 한다. 그리고 동시에 디자인을 컴퓨터 시스템에 의한 생산 방식으로 정확하고 빠르게 생산 할 수 있도록 하여 예술과 기술의 접목을 실현시키는 도구로서 그 비중이 매우 크다. 현대는 창조적이고 새로운 디자인을 중요시하는 시대로서 섬유와 디자인이 접목하여 생겨난 텍스타일 디자인은 소비자의 기호를 고려하여 무늬와 컬러를 구성하고 이를 기술과 결합시키고 적합한 원단 소재에 표현하는 작업이다. 따라서 현대인과 급변하는 생활양식이 요구하는 디자인 개발이 중요하다. 이런 현대인의 기호와 시대적 흐름의 이해를 바탕으로 본 연구자는 페르낭 레제(Fernand Leger)의 디자인 원리와 단순하고 명쾌함을 주는 기하도형 형태의 접목을 통하여 간결하고 세련된 기하 패턴을 개발하여 고부가 가치의 인테리어 패브릭(Fabric) 패턴 디자인을 다음과 같이 연구한다. 첫째, 이론적 배경이 되는 페르낭 레제의 문헌자료들을 통해 그의 작품과 생애를 조사하고 현대 미술사의 흐름을 파악하여 그가 여러 예술 분야에 미친 영향을 연구한다. 둘째, 페르낭 레제의 기하학적 단순성의 디자인 원리와 대비, 반복(패턴), 강조, 통합(조화)의 구성방법을 연구 분석한다. 셋째, 페르낭 레제의 디자인 원리와 기하도형 모티브를 활성과 비활성 구조 개념에 의해 접목하여 실제 인테리어 패브릭 패턴 디자인 35 점을 제작 분석하여 그 개발 가능성을 연구하였다. 본 연구자는 이러한 연구를 통하여 다음과 같은 결론을 도출하였다. 첫째, 페르낭 레제는 입체주의의 작가로 회화를 비롯하여 건축, 영화, 연극 등에 관심을 가지고 벽면 장식 미술가로서, 무대 장치가와 실험적 전위 영화 작가로서 여러 예술 분야에 관여 하여 영향을 미친 것을 알 수 있었다. 이러한 그의 예술정신과 다양한 작품의 이해를 통해 레제 작품의 특성이 조형예술에 있어 하나의 중요한 디자인 원리가 된다는 것을 알게 되었다. 둘째, 페르낭 레제의 디자인 원리는 기하학적 단순성으로 대비, 반복(패턴), 강조, 통합(조화)의 구성 방법에 의하여 조형예술에서 구체적으로 이용된다는 것을 알 수 있었다. 셋째, 페르낭 레제의 디자인 원리와 기하도형 모티브를 활성과 비활성 구조 개념에 의해 접목한 복합적 반복구성의 기하도형 패턴은 시각적인 요소와 디자인 요소 즉 그 내용의 접목을 통하여 일반적인 기하 패턴과 차별화 될 수 있는 가능성이 보인다. 또한 기하 패턴이 컴퓨터 그래픽 작업과 접목하는 기법으로 디지털 프린트에 의하여 디자인되어 현대인의 지적수준과 미적 감각을 만족 시킬 수 있는 텍스타일 디자인으로 활용 될 가능성을 볼 수 있었다. 이와 같은 연구를 통해서 본 연구자는 레제의 작품, 레제의 디자인 원리, 기하도형 모티브에 대한 연구를 통해 체계적인 기하도형 패턴을 디자인함으로써 새로운 개념의 패턴을 제시하고 이를 컴퓨터 그래픽과 디지털 텍스타일 프린트 기법의 제작과정을 통해 텍스타일 디자인을 연구하여 소비자에게 차별성 있는 다양하고 좋은 텍스타일 디자인의 가능성을 제시해 보았다.;Art and technology have developed in close relation with our life. With the development of cutting-edge scientific technology such as ultimate technology, micro electronic engineering and biotechnology, we have gone through changes that humankind has never experienced until now, and that technology is basically changing modern culture and life style. The revolution of such scientific technology has advanced more rapidly with the development of computer. Computer has had many effects on formative arts and plays an important role particularly in fashion and textile design, providing creative idea. Furthermore, it puts art and technology together so that design can be produced accurately and promptly through computer system. Today, creative and new design is considered very highly. Textile design from the mixture of fiber and design comprises pattern and color in consideration of customer's taste, combining them with technology and representing them by means of proper cloth materials. Therefore, it is really important to develop design, which is required for the moderns and rapidly changing life style. Based on the understanding of the moderns' taste and the current of the times, I combined design principle of Fernand Leger with simple and pleasant geometrical figure to develop simple and sophisticated geometrical pattern and to research on high value-added interior Fabric pattern design in the following ways: First, based on the documents concerning Fernand Leger that is theoretical background, I researched into his work and life and figured out the current of modern art history to study his influence on various arts. Second, I research and analysis the geometric simplicity, Fernand Leger's design theory, through the method of composition such as contrast, repetition(pattern), emphasis, and integration(harmony). Third, I put his design theory and geometrical figure motif together through the conception of activation and deactivation structure, manufactured and analyzed 35 interior fabric pattern designs to investigate possibility of their development. I reached a conclusion below through such research. First, the research showed that Fernand Leger, a cubist, was interested in pictures, architecture, movie, play and others, and had much effect on various areas as wall decorative artist, stage designer and experimental avant-garde. Through his art spiritand the understanding of various work, I found that characteristics of his works is one of significant design principles in formative arts. Second, I found that his design theory was geometric simplicity and used by the method of composition such as contrast, repetition (pattern), emphasis, and integration (pattern) in formative arts with its detail. Third, I found that geometrical pattern of complex repeated structure combines Leger's design principle with geometrical figure motif through the conception of activation and deactivation structure. It can also be differentiated from common geometrical pattern through visual element and design element, that is, combination of its contents. In addition, geometrical pattern is designed by digital print through technique of combination with computer graphic work and can be used as textile design to satisfy intellectual level of the moderns and aesthetic sense. I suggested the new concept of pattern as designing systematic geometric figure pattern through the research about Leger's works, design theories, and motive of geometric figures. And I researched the textile design through its making process of computer graphics and digital textile prints. I suggested the possibility of textile designs which is distinguish, verify and good for the consumers.
