한국의 이미지를 응용한 파티션 직물 연구

Abstract

우리의 주거공간은 생활수준의 향상과 더불어 급격하게 서구화되었다. 서구식 아파트 생활이 보편화된 현대 도시인들의 주거공간이 자칫 잘못하면 획일적이고 차가운 느낌을 줄 수도 있는데 이는 현대화, 세계화라는 목적으로 서양문화를 무조건적으로 수입하고 수용하고 있는 과도기적 현상이라고 할 수 있다. 한국의 전통적인 미에 대한 비중이 점점 엷어져가고, 정보화의 물결 속에서 서구화를 현대화라고 여겨왔던 우리는 세계화라는 명제아래 우리의 문화적, 미적 정체성을 확인해야할 필요성을 깨닫게 되었다. 그리고 동양적인 좁게는 한국적인 인테리어가 새롭게 재조명되고 있는 지금, 우리는 우리의 서구화된 주거공간을 전통적인 한국의 이미지를 느낄 수 있는 개성적이고 인간미 있는 공간으로의 창조의 필요성을 느끼게 되었다. 이에 본 논문에서는 한국의 이미지에 의한 실내공간을 구성하는 효율적인 방안의 하나로 우리의 고유 이미지를 응용한 파티션 직물 개발을 시도하였다. 파티션이란 실내공간을 구획하여 막아대는 벽을 말한다. 우리의 생활공간이 점차적으로 원룸의 형태를 띤 복합공간으로 변해 가는 지금 공간의 경계를 생각하지 않을 수 없는데 이러한 파티션이라는 가변의 벽을 놓을 경우 확고부동한 벽에 의지하지 않고도 정신적, 심리적인 경계가 가능하다. 이러한 벽과 같은 의미로 사용되는 파티션은 실내공간의 부족함을 해소하고 공간을 차단하는 칸막이 등의 기능적인 요소와 실내의 이미지를 색다르게 변화시킬 수 있는 장식적인 요소를 함께 지니고 있어 그 가치가 높아져 가고 있다. 파티션에 쓰이는 소재는 목재, 종이, 금속, 유리, 직물, 석고보드 등이 있다. 이중에서 직물류는 다른 소재에 비해 색상이나 조직, 질감을 자유롭게 선택할 수 있으며 사용 중 더러워지거나 파손됐을 경우 손쉽게 새로운 직물로 교환 할 수 있다는 장점이 있다. 또한 직물이라는 소재를 사용함으로써 차갑게 느껴질 수 있는 공간을 부드러우면서도 친근하고 고급스러운 공간으로 재창조할 수 있다. 그러나 지금까지의 파티션 직물은 그 재료나 색상, 디자인이 지극히 단순한 형태로 머물러 있는 실정이다. 이러한 점을 해결하고자 한국의 이미지를 적극 응용하여 직조로 제작함으로써 실내공간에서의 파티션의 활용가치를 높여보고자 한다. 우선 본 연구의 이론적 배경으로 첫째, 한국의 조형개념과 특징을 살펴보고 한국적인 미를 현대적으로 활용한 예를 찾아봄으로써 파티션 직물에의 응용 가능성을 알아보았다. 둘째, 파티션의 전반적인 특성을 알아보고 그 기능성과 장식성을 분석하였으며 직물 파티션의 장점과 발전가능성을 살펴보았다. 이를 기반으로 한 작품제작은 우리 옛 조상들의 전통적인 놀이용품인 방패연의 형상을 본 따서 디자인한 후 구름 문양의 조직을 제직하고 색상을 강하게 대비시켜 새로운 느낌의 파티션을 제작하였으며, 여인네의 용품인 참빗을 크게 확대하여 파티션 디자인으로 응용하고 조직의 변화로 그 형상을 표현함으로써 작고 보잘것없는 소품이 가치있음을 제시하였다. 또한 우리 고유의 장신구인 노리개를 조형화 시켜 디자인하였는데 조직과 색상의 다양한 변화로 입체감을 주고, 늘어지는 술의 형태를 파티션의 형태로 옮겨와서 제작하여 새로운 파티션의 형상으로 재창조하였다. 그리고 문살의 모양을 실의 굵기와 질감과 밀도를 달리하여 부분적으로 반투명성을 주었으며, 전통 문양을 프린트하여 다양하게 한국의 미를 느낄 수 있도록 하였다. 이와 같은 연구결과 한국의 이미지를 응용한 직물을 제작함에 있어 옛 조상들의 형태감각을 이어받아 현대의 디자인으로 발전시키는데는 그럴만한 충분한 가치가 있다는 것을 깨달았다. 또한 파티션 직물로 개발함에 있어 우리가 제대로 알지 못했던 우리민족의 미를 충분히 활용하여, 우리의 서구화된 공간에서 조금이나마 전통의 미를 느낄 수 있는 조형적인 인테리어 소품으로서의 파티션으로 발전할 수 있는 가능성을 제시하는 기회가 되었다. 그러나 제작상의 여건상 사각의 틀에 맞추어야 한다는 한계 때문에 좀더 다양한 한국의 미를 개발하지 못하였고, 수직기로 여러 조직을 넣어 제직함에 있어 텐션과 질감의 다양한 변화 등이 어렵다는 아쉬움이 남았다. 현재 시판되고 있는 직물 파티션은 무궁 무진한 디자인 발전 가능성에도 불구하고 그저 반복적인 패턴의 직물을 사용하는데 그치고 있다. 그러므로 파티션 직물에 있어서도 한국의 전통적인 이미지를 활용하여 제작한다면 좀더 개성있는 공간을 창조할 수 있겠다. 본 연구에서는 옛것 그대로의 모방이 아닌 새롭게 재해석하고 창조되어진 직물 파티션을 제시함으로써 조형적인 완성을 기대하고, 현대적 감각으로도 뒤떨어지지 않는 디자인을 개발하여 국제적으로도 고부가가치를 지닌 직물 파티션을 제작하는데 도움이 되고자 한다.;Our living place has been abruptly westernized with the improvement of living level. Westernized life style in an apartment can give a unified and cold image, but it is a transitional phenomena that unconditionally imports and accepts western culture in the name of modernization and globalization. As the gravity of Korean traditional beauty becomes lower in the wave of information society, we get to realize the necessity of finding cultural identity. Also, Oriental, more specifically Korean, interior design is being newly appreciated, we should create more unique and humanistic space that displays traditional Korean image. Hereby, this study attempts to develop partition textile that applies Korean traditional image as an effective way of making up an interior space. Partition means a wall that divides an interior space. As our living space becomes complex with a one-room style, we get to think of the boundary of the present space. This partition makes mental and psychological boundary possible. It also has the function of screening and decorating, and its value is becoming high. Materials used for partition are wood, paper, metal, glass, textile and plaster board. Among these, textiles have a variety of colors and texture, and they can be easily changed when dirty or damaged. Also, you can create a soft and familiar place with textiles. However, partition textiles so far has been very simple in color and design, To solve this problem, I'd like to elevate the value of partition in interior space by applying Korean image to textile. The theoretical background of this study includes first, the concept and characteristic of Korean modeling and the examples of using it in a modern way, second, the general characteristic of partition with the analysis of its function and decorative elements and third the advantage of textile partition and the possibility of development. Creation of work based on this is a partition of a new feeling with the design of shield shaped kite and the contrast of color in a cloud-shaped texture. An enlarged version of a comb for women is applied to a partition, and it suggest a small thing can be a valuable tool of design. Also, various changes of texture and color gives a cubic sense and they are re-created as a new form of partition. As a result, I found that it is worthwhile to applying our traditional sense to modern design. Also, it is a chance to suggest the possibility of developing partition as the item that makes us feel our traditional beauty in a modern space. However, the limits of following a square frame prevented me from developing more various Korean beauty, and it was difficult to make various change of tension and texture in creating various textures with a handloom. Presently released textile partition merely uses the textile of repeating patterns despite infinite possibility of development. Therefore, using Korea traditional image in making a partition will help create more individualistic space. This study expects the completion of modeling by suggesting newly translated and created textile partition, and it is intended to give help with the creation of high value-added textile partition.
