테이핑 기법을 응용한 의상디자인 연구

Abstract

복식은 역사적, 사회적, 문화적 특성에 따른 시대의 미의식을 나타내고, 인체라는 3차원 구조를 위한 표현이라는 점에서 시각적 조형물로서의 가치를 갖는 조형예술에 속한다. 복식은 각 시대의 예술의 형태와 특성을 살리고 입는 사람의 내면적인 미를 종합한 복합미의 표현이다. 즉, 복식은 시대에 따라 변화하고 그 시대를 사는 구성원이 공감하는 미의식을 나타냄으로써 시대의 사회적, 문화적 요구를 반영한다. 따라서 복식의 역사를 살펴보면 그 시대의 흐름과 유행, 정신세계를 이해할 수 있다. 복식의 역사 속에서 복식은 구성하는 재료와 형태 등이 변화해온 것을 알 수 있는데 그 중 테이프는 복식의 재료이자 모티브로써 오랜 과거에서부터 현재에 이르기까지 광범위하게 사용되어져 왔다. 테이프의 역할은 인간이 몸을 가리기 위해 늘어뜨린 술장식에서 시작되어 의복의 구성적인 재료와 장식적인 목적으로 활용되었다. 또한 테이프는 엮는 방법 등에 의해 소재 구성의 재료로 이용되기도 했으며 오늘날 디자인의 영역에 있어서 개성화와 새로운 구성미의 추구라는 시대적 관심 속에 그 활용 범위는 점차 확대되고 있다. 또한 테이프를 구성하는 다양한 재료와 여러 가지 테이핑 기법으로 적극적이고 개성적인 표현 가능성이 높아지고 있다. 특히 개성을 중시하는 다품종 소량생산에 따라 다양하고 고급스러운 복식 디자인의 수요가 급증하고 있는 이 때 표현효과가 자유로운 테이프의 응용은 복식디자인의 내용을 풍부하게 하는 중요한 기법이 될 수 있다. 뿐만 아니라 복식디자인의 장식적, 구성적 요인으로서 선(線)은 테이프의 길고 가느다란 특성을 이용하여 다양한 효과를 나타내기도 한다. 이에 본 연구는 복식에 있어 장식적 역할로서 선을 테이프의 특성과 접목시켜 테이프를 반복적으로 배열하거나 교차해 얻을 수 있는 색다른 느낌을 표현하고자 하였다. 즉, 직선과 곡선을 테이프의 반복적인 기법으로 구성하여 풍부한 선의 느낌, 다양한 표면감과 재질감, 중첩효과에 의한 입체적인 공간감이 나타나는 복식디자인을 하였다. 본 연구의 내용 및 방법으로는 문헌고찰을 통하여 광범위한 테이핑 사용 영역내에서 테이핑의 개념을 정립하고 그에 따라 복식의 역사에서 테이프가 어떻게 사용되어왔는가를 살펴보았다. 또한 작품사례를 표집하여 테이핑의 다양한 표현기법과 종류를 분석하고, 현대 복식에 나타난 새로운 개념의 테이핑 기법과 응용방법에 대해 알아보았다. 선과 복식디자인에 있어서는 선의 개념과 선구성의 표현방법, 그리고 선을 응용한 현대 복식디자인에 대해 알아보았다. 이와 같은 이론적 배경을 토대로 테이프의 재질감과 장식적인 선구성의 특징이 나타나는 총 8점의 의상을 실물 제작하였다. 이러한 문헌고찰과 작품제작을 통하여 얻어진 결론은 다음과 같다. 첫째, 테이프는 가는 선의 성격과 함께 유연성과 탄성의 특성을 가지고 있어 직선과 곡선의 선을 평면과 입체로 자유롭게 표현할 수 있고, 이를 통해 복식디자인의 선 요소를 효과적으로 나타내는 기법으로의 발전 가능성을 제시할 수 있었다. 둘째, 테이핑은 사용하는 의도나 상황에 따라 다양한 기법으로 개발이 가능하고 구조기능적, 장식적인 용도로 의미있게 활용되며, 특히 창작적인 소재를 구성하기에 유용한 재료이자 모티브가 되는 것을 확인할 수 있었다. 셋째, 테이프로 반복적으로 구성한 복식 디자인의 경우, 테이프의 재질이나 선으로 표현된 단위형태가 겹치는 정도에 따라 상이한 입체적 질감과 공간감을 표출하게 되어 새로운 시각적 효과를 가져올 수 있었다. 네째, 테이프의 반복적 배열에 의한 장식적 디자인은 각각의 테이프 선의 색상 변화를 통해 여러 가지 색채 표현이 가능하고 테이프 선의 중첩에 의한 음영효과 등을 기대할 수 있었다. 이상의 결과로 테이핑 기법은 조형예술로서 작가의 독창성과 개성 그리고 현대적인 선의 간결미를 표현할 수 있어 현대적인 복식디자인 제작에 기여하는 중요한 디자인적 요소를 제공할 수 있었다. 그리고 테이핑 기법을 응용한 작품 제작과정에 있어서 테이프로 평면 또는 입체적인 표현을 할 때 테이프의 연결 및 형태유지 방법이 고려되어야 하는 것을 알 수 있었다. 따라서 테이핑 기법 활용에 있어 테이프를 연결하고 유지시키는 효율적인 방법의 개발과 연구가 필요하겠다. 이러한 테이핑 기법 사용의 한계성은 테이핑에 대한 새로운 관심의 유발, 그리고 다양한 표현 기법과 재료 개발에 관한 계속된 노력과 연구를 통해 복식의 부가가치를 높이는 방향으로 극복되어야 할 것이다.;Dress and its ornaments are part of valuable modeling art in that they present aesthetic senses of the time and express three-dimensional human body. Dress and its ornaments are complex beauty that expresses the inner beauty of the person who wears them. They change as the times change, and reflect and aesthetic senses of the people who wear them including cultural demand of that time. Accordingly, a look at the history of dress and its ornaments will help you understand the flow, trend and spiritual world of that time. The role of a tape in the history of dress and its ornaments starts from a tassel hung down to cover human body, and it was used only for decoration or part of dress material. However, the use of tape is being expanded with the individualization of design and the pursuit of a new composition, and it enables the positive and individualistic expressions with various materials and techniques. According to a small amount of production with a variety of selection item, demand of high class dress and its ornaments design is increasing and the application of tape will rich the contents of design and change its level. This study introduces taping skills, escaping one dimensional range of using a tape such as simply tying or hanging down, and expects the creation of the design that pursues modern composition. As the theoretical background of this study, I looked at the concept of various taping skills and the examples of using taping skills in each time period. I also analyzed various skills and types of taping and examined taping skills with a new concept used in modern dress and its ornaments design and line composition expressed in modern dress and its ornaments. Based on this, I introduced skills that can express the line image more simply and effectively among various taping skills for creating work. It is also focused on composing dress and its ornaments suitable for modern image. In the method of creating work, I used repetitive tape arrangement and unit form skills that can effectively express the composition of straight and curved lines. I made eight pieces of modeling work. By introducing repetitive composition of straight and curved lines to taping skills, I tried to present the sense of space by rich feeling of lines, various expression and tape lines. I emphasized the neat feeling with silk as main material. Also, I used pastel toned bright colors to express the line composition modern. The following are the results of this study. First, in theoretical background, taping skills have various kinds of types depending on situations and they have a lot of possibilities of being used as a unique technique. Second, escaping simple ways or tying or hanging down tapes, I used new taping skills to rich the contents of design and improve the level of composition, which presents the pursuit of neat modern beauty. Third, by presenting contrasting structure and space according to the line composition and materials in introducing taping skills to similar design technique, I could make a new visual effect. Fourth, the linear characteristics of a tape provides variety in color within the tape line. The use of mono tone gives a material effect of a tape, and the use of gradation colors gives a shading effect. As written above, a study on taping expressed as a line composition can provide important design elements that contributes to the creation of modern clothing design.
